I read this in high school. Terrifying...but I always loved it. "I am Hopfrog...and this is my last jest." Chilling!

One of the first Poe stories I read in 8th grade English class, and although the Masque of Red Death is my most favorite, this is one that you never really forget, thanks to that scene at the end.

+AnaxErik4ever Have you ever seen the film adaptations? Truly grisly.

Chilling Tales For Dark Nights No, but I can imagine the screams of the king and his ministers without needing to see anything.

The British tried to get Edgar Allan Poe to commit treason. He refused and wrote the story Hop-Frog, which ridicules them. He hurt their fragile feelings, so they murdered him. It’s a good story. It’s even better when you know all about British Freemasonry and how they pretend to be Jews.
The British and American traitors murdered John Kennedy because he issued Executive Order 11110. He knew the U.S. had been infiltrated. The Federal Reserve is unconstitutional. That’s what enslaves us today. The British and American traitors are our enemy. We are at war.
Trump is in the CIA. He is not our friend. Kennedy Jr. is in the CIA. He is not our friend. The U.S. is run by traitors. Their allegiance is to the U.K. Most comments about Israel controlling the U.S. are from MI6/CIA. This Jew trick has been going on for 500 years. Our enemy is the U.K. That’s the big secret they don’t want you to know. That’s it.

Thank you, HOP FROG has always been in my top five favorites of Poe's work. I've had the pleasure of introducing others to this one of Poe's least known tales. Will definitely be sharing your post as well. Pleasant.....dreams.

Dear Mr. Vaughn Clegg: I would like to say, I find that your voice suits Edgar Alan Poe's writing so well. I hope to hear more of his work read by you!

I have heard this story (a favorite of mine) by EAP (another favorite of mine) narrated by several different people. You’ve taken this succinctly written marvelous tale of revenge and wrenched from it all flavor, reducing it to a piece of tough dry chicken.

I loved reading this. Not so fun fact, this story is based on a real incident that actually happened in the French court.

This story formed part of Roger Corman's best Poe film -'The Masque of the Red Death'. Hop-Frog becoming Hop-Toad.
