    I’m really surprised by the Febi pump! I’m about to build up a 1.6td from a t25 to put in a mk1 Caddy so the oil pump and sump are different. I was going to opt for a Febi pump but now I’ll probably get a secondhand genuine one. I worked at a specialist on earlier water cooled VWs for 10 years on only ever replaced one oil pump because it had been run dry.

    Would the aftermarket pump also push metal around the engine that has been worn away?

      Unfortunately yes any small particles would be introduced into oil
