    So great that you are doing some solo Justin music. In my mind, there are only a few songwriters in the rock world who could write so many memorable melodies: Lennon, McCartney, Wilson, Lightfoot, and Hayward. I'm sure there are a few more, but Justin is up there with the very best of them. And his crying voice and crying guitar are perfectly matched.

    I love this song. He also has a version of this song on the Spirit of The Western Sky album using acoustic instruments. I believe it was recorded in Nashville.
    My wonderful wife has purchased two VIP tickets to see Justin Hayward for my upcoming 60th birthday.

    Two words: "Blue Jays." Others may have mentioned as well...fabulous Hayward-Lodge 1974 follow-up soon after the Moody Blues first break ('72)--after what I call their "core seven." It is essentially the Moodies' core sound, showcasing their two main frontmen, lush orchestration, great production, melodious blended vocals, Justin's soaring leads, everything. Although there is the MB's first full band re-start up album a few years later, "Octave," re-uniting Ray Thomas with his distinctive flute and baritone, and briefly Mike Pinder's keyboards, and which is quite good,...I've always thought of Blue Jays as effectively their 8th.

    Easily one of the top five most hauntingly beautiful songs ever written. Speaking of Haunted, try that Justin Hayward song next. It too is hauntingly beautiful.

    Justin did an incredible solo album called "Classic Blue" where he covered great songs, but re-writing the music to be classical. You should cover that whole album some time. Then Justin and Jon Lodge did an album called "Blue Jays" -- which as far as I'm concerned (big Moody Blues fan) is one of the best of the best of the group. Again, a whole album review would be fantastic. Based on your other reactions to various artists I predict you would absolutely love both of these works.

    • @lgeyser1
      @lgeyser1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I fully agree with you re "Blue Jays" - my favorite lp from MB's (even if it is only two of them). Since 1975 I've been hoping that Justin and John would do a Blue Jays tour - now that it's possible, it looks like they're happier touring as single acts. A great loss for life-long Moodies fans.

    I've always loved this song. Perhaps my favorite solo Justin Hayward song. I'm so glad you reviewed it and I love your reaction to it. Justin is able to write very sentimental songs that avoid being maudlin. They have that lift of hope in them that really touches me.

    I have booked to see Justin again in 2024 having seen him many times since retiring through my youth I was never able to see the MB due to commitments. The early MB were amazing with songs for every mood we go through. I don’t think people understand that there are a few anti war songs in their repertoire. Great choice Harry.

    Justin Hayward, always loved this Moody Blues mastermind, so to say !! From the early beginning in 1967, listened to Nights in whit Satin (I was 11 years then) and he and the band stayed a favorite for me till today with this really innovative music and sound ! Always good vibes and moods, so catchy and melancholic too.
