Trains at Ashford International, SEML + HS1 - 4/5/19

- Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Ashford International on the South Eastern Main Line where services are seen by Southeastern, Eurostar and Southern (GTR Brand).
It wasn't so long ago since my last visit over to Ashford International however I felt it needed a re-visit so it could be done for the Big Trip series. Once again, the station impressed with its scenery and its variety as a bit more appeared at this station meaning for a bit more interest going forwards during our time here. It was nice to catch some 171s here, I don't see them all that often so of course it's great to see when they do appear in places. The station is laid out really nicely and although I won't give too much away here, it was a lot better than the last time I was here and you'll see why when you watch.

I do wonder why the 375/77s don't use the electrification line above? Though it could be because there's no other stations beyond that really have it I guess....great video anyway Kieran, thoroughly enjoyed it, can't wait for chiltern main line😃😃
That's right, it's because there's no overhead wiring beyond Ashford International therefore third rail is put in place. Glad you enjoyed the video. 😀
HS1 between St Pancras and Ashford Intl is the only part of SouthEasterm's network to have OHLE. The rest is third railed

Are the 395 Javelin trains actually Britain's fastest?
I believe so, however they can't really match their maximum speed due to the restrictions here.
the top speed record is 157mph and someone talks me that
@@KTVTransport The 395s are the fastest domestic train in the UK, however, the Eurostars do go faster but they are international services
