Today I stood in the aisle of Home Depot and deliberated the pros and cons of these hatches for 15 minutes.
Both are great quality for their respective prices, but the the premium steel one is wellll worth the few extra dollars.
This is how I sharpened and finished mine on a budget:
In a circular motion, I sanded the exposed metal with wet 80 grit sandpaper, followed by wet 20 grit.
Next, I ran it through an inexpensive knife sharpener.
Followed by another round of wet 20 grit sandpaper.
Last, I frictioned wax dixie cups along the bare steel until there was a near mirrored finish to each side.
Then repeated this process to the husky logo.
Added a para-cord rope loop at the end of the hatchet, and I think I just made a new favorite heirloom.
I can’t wait to use it to cut firewood on an upcoming camping trip.
    A great purchase!

How does that steel compare to Fiskars/Gerber

I'd say they are comparable. The Fiskars are built very well, but this axe is a pretty good bang for the buck.

How would it compare to eastwing 16 camper?

I actually did a review of the Estwing 16 Camper....the Estwing is better. This is a good alternative in my opinion.
