Just went to my little brothers wedding shower. He is a witness so there were several witnesses there from my childhood congregation coming up to say hi after many many years of zero contact. They would ask me how I'm doing, and when I would ask them it would be "WHO DIED, WHO'S SICK, HOW BAD THINGS ARE", and that they are just getting by day by day. It really threw my girlfriend off.... it was very uncanny.
They talk about the “best life ever” but I swear it’s the most guilt ridden unhappy life ever. I honestly have had more happiness and NO GUILT since I left 10 years ago. It’s like the guilt lessens with every year I’m away.
Imagine it being your family, which becomes true as a JW, but as a child, to never feel worthy, void of unconditional love... Such an awful outlook on life, and oneself. :/

Awesome video! When my daughter did her initial cry for help because my jw husband was sexually abusing her, I was told to "Get out in service. It will make you feel better." So there I was, 3 days after the shocking news, homeless with 2 teenage children, trying to go door to door. I only made it an hour. Service & meetings did not make my kids & I feel better. Leaving the cult made all 3 of us feel much better!

I did go to them. Only to tell what i had done. At 14 not realizing they wanted more answers. One of them talked to their wives. I was shunned, as an active member of the cong. For years. I wasn't punished for going to them. The cong punished me for "telling"
When My son passed away at 25 years old, the first thing my best friend of 40 years who is a JW told is that it's too bad he didn't accept Jehovah and wouldn't be in paradise. Why? Because he was gay. But why would anyone say such a thing to a grieving mother? My heart, which was barely beating from the pain, just broke into nothingness when she said that. She's always been there for me and I love her and care for her, but those words are imprinted in my brain forever. I trust my Lord though and pray as a mother that some day I will see my boy again. 😢💔
In case you didn't know, when you get reproved and have your privileges taken away, then later when they allow you to comment at meetings again, the elders TELL YOU to start with one word answers! Then when you do that for awhile, they will give you permission to say a whole sentence, but just one sentence and they CAUTION you to "not elaborate and not get carried away" with your comnents until you are "strong spiritually again."
I think there's a comment about it in the Shepherding book btw. So, this is more evidence that this is not a real experience. It just happens to line up too perfectly with the point they want to make.

When I was 11, I started to realize something wasn’t right about what I was being taught at these meeting I’ve been going to for my whole life, especially when it came to their views of the lgbtq community and the roles of women. I’ve been counting down the days for almost five years pretty much, and once I turn 18 I’m going to go live with my friend But seriously, good luck with saving for a place. I’ve found, the more you push yourself away from this group, the more freedom you’ll get to feel, and you’ll realize that life can be great, actually, and it’s totally FINE to think critically for yourself. I love Jehovah’s Witnesses. I too loving the brothers and sisters but that was not reason enough to be a part of an organization that shuns their mothers and fathers, sisters, and brothers for having questions and researching to find the answers. Much of my waking up came from reading from my own JW library that contain books that showed the entire history of JW organization. Why did the governing body have everybody destroy all the old literature?? I found the answers when I read their own publications. They’re hiding and covering up the facts about shunning, disfellow shipping and so much more. When I saw a governing body member lying when put under oath at the hearings of the Australian royal commission, that was it for me.
When I was 12, a girlfriend in my congregation was kidnapped and raped. The fiend kept her for 3 days, she barely escaped. When she returned to the hall, she was taken to a judicial committee without her parents. Just her and 3 elders. She shared with me how awful those men were about her experience. The following Sunday meeting, she was put on public reproof. FOR BEING KIDNAPPED AND RAPED, the f’n elders chose to punish HER. There is no small connection with my refusal to study or attend meetings after that.
These people's manipulation and gaslighting skills are way better than my ex's. They get off on punishing and controlling the sheep. I can't believe it took me this long to realize that all I had to do is turn to God and not to these men to confess (it's a confession, not going to them for help). They're no different than the Catholic church that relies on confession.

It depends on the congregation you grew up in, everyone minus a few families, were related!!! They were all really close, and my dad, being an Elder, we all got along really well, and very close!!! But now when I've visited the congregations, I can't talk to them, but they seem more like you're talking about. I think people have cooled off!!! P.S. I think that's why in 1974 or 1975 all of us kids who were about the same age lined up to give our answer to each question and got baptized. I had no idea what I was doing.

Which of course how the heck could we know when the world will end dude? He said there will be wars and rumors of wars, but don't let anyone tell you they know when the end is. I’ve been counting down the days for almost five years pretty much, and once I turn 18 I’m going to go live with my friend
But seriously, good luck with saving for a place. I’ve found, the more you push yourself away from this group, the more freedom you’ll get to feel, and you’ll realize that life can be great, actually, and it’s totally FINE to think critically for yourself. The minute you realize that you never did anything wrong my thinking for yourself, is the moment you get a fresh start.

I love Jehovah’s Witnesses. I too loving the brothers and sisters but that was not reason enough to be a part of an organization that shuns their mothers and fathers, sisters, and brothers for having questions and researching to find the answers. Much of my waking up came from reading from my own JW library that contain books that showed the entire history of JW organization.
Why did the governing body have everybody destroy all the old literature?? I found the answers when I read their own publications. They’re hiding and covering up the facts about shunning, disfellow shipping and so much more.
When I saw a governing body member lying when put under oath at the hearings of the Australian royal commission, that was it for me.
When I was 12, a girlfriend in my congregation was kidnapped and raped. The fiend kept her for 3 days, she barely escaped.
When she returned to the hall, she was taken to a judicial committee without her parents. Just her and 3 elders. She shared with me how awful those men were about her experience.
The following Sunday meeting, she was put on public reproof. FOR BEING KIDNAPPED AND RAPED, the f’n elders chose to punish HER.
There is no small connection with my refusal to study or attend meetings after that.
These people's manipulation and gaslighting skills are way better than my ex's. They get off on punishing and controlling the sheep. I can't believe it took me this long to realize that all I had to do is turn to God and not to these men to confess (it's a confession, not going to them for help). They're no different than the Catholic church that relies on confession.

It depends on the congregation you grew up in, everyone minus a few families, were related!!! They were all really close, and my dad, being an Elder, we all got along really well, and very close!!! But now when I've visited the congregations, I can't talk to them, but they seem more like you're talking about. I think people have cooled off!!! P.S. I think that's why in 1974 or 1975 all of us kids who were about the same age lined up to give our answer to each question and got baptized. I had no idea what I was doing.
They use scripture and twist it to their desires, but ignore the common sense, plain as day scripture such as Jesus saying "YOU WILL NOT KNOW THE DAY OR TIME" of the end. Which of course how the heck could we know when the world will end dude? He said there will be wars and rumors of wars, but don't let anyone tell you they know when the end is. Totally plain and simple and easy to understand-no twisting needed. Yet they constantly have to claim they know the date. And then when that date is wrong it's the next date. And so on and so on. I wish they would just stop.

I'm not a man, and even I would be annoyed having to shave down what grows out of my damn face every day in order to look "clean shaven" and the stubble just look like it itches. I was in the military, and I know for a fact not every man can shave comfortably, because either their hair is so thick, or just grows a certain way, or they have uber sensitive skin, and if they shaved everyday, their faces would start to look like an infected dropped berry pie and I'd recon hurt really, really bad.
