      I bought myself a pair of tinted night time glasses that have "anti-glare" They may not help everyone, but I do use them sometimes at night - especially if it's raining, the lights from other cars can be even more blinding, so these glasses just take the edge off slightly 😊👍

    LED headlights is the bane of driving at night....at least for me, living in the countryside you get some seriously dark roads. another tip for this is if you find other drivers lights too bright, look to the left curb so you dont get dazzled as i have found myself getting dazzled by some drivers that froget they have there main beam on as they go past you.

    I'll be honest, it depends. If you live in a well-lit busy place then yes, it's mostly the same. I did a few hours driving lessons in the dark and where I live it was VERY different (especially in pitch black country lanes). I'm glad I did it, good practice.

    Very helpful, I never had any lessons driving in the dark so it is one area I’m wary of. First time I drove in the dark was to a gig and had 40mph winds, heavy rain then I broke down on the way home. I do drive to work when it’s dark in the mornings and prefer daytime driving but only because I’m more use to it.

    Clearly you never drove at night in Asian countries like India or the Philippines. There you have all kinds of fun: dogs, kids, cows, sudden street parties or funerals in the middle of the road, feces and other slippery substances on the road. All this bliss without any street lights, and most of the vehicles coming at you have either high beam, 2000% bright halogen "low" beam or no lights at all (to save gasoline of course).
    Also that pulling out in the beginning.. Ooof. In the countries I mentioned earlier you must be ready for that kind of thing, because bikers are everywhere.

    Every year you will find you go through a settling period of getting used to driving in the dark on the first couple of drivers. On country roads you will actually be qware of cars in some situations soomer due to light reflection. Your instructor should have told you about hazard line for bends dups junctions that information can be used during the night. If approaching a junction dip your lights. Motorway dip your lights unless you can see its clear for 2 miles. If someone does overtake dip your lights if you dont they may put on there rear fog lights to tell you. At night reflection is your best friend

    Not sure that driving at night is quite the same. Visibility is certainly a bit more of an issue but I find the most common difficulty I have is too much light. Headlights on modern cars seem too bright to me and can obscure a lot of what is going on around them. When a car is coming towards you with very bright lights it's hard to see anything behind it. The same with cars behind you. I have particular issues with big modern 4X4s with bright lights sitting too close behind me. Even if we're stationary at lights, if a cyclist was to ride down a line of traffic I wouldn't be able to see them until they get in front of the car behind. This isn't helped by a lot of the delivery cyclists we have in London who don't have any lights or hi-vis.

    Driving at night can be scary, I prefer it when there's no approaching cars in the other lane. Because their lights are so bright it blinds your lane and its hard to see the road signs etc. Is there a way to get used to the lights without buying sunglasses?
    Also is there a better way to be more visible/ see more clearly in pitch black small car parks where even though you're driving at low speeds, people can appear out of nowhere wearing black, making it hard to notice them.

      Not sure if it will help but spotted some in a service station this morning when fuelling up. Anti-glare night driving glasses meant to prevent you being dazzled. Could be worth a look. I recently passed my test just 6 weeks ago and spent so much time night driving because of work I think I'm getting used to it.
      Saying that..... lot of speed bumps around my way so constantly getting strobed by oncoming traffic even when they have their dipped headlights on. :D

    How best to overcome fear of ditching your car at night. Un lit narrow country roads, plenty of sharp bends to get main beamed on and up hill parts. How can you judge size when the oncoming motor has burnt your retinas and all you see is pitch black around them? The roads I drive can be just big enough for one vehicle at a time. Other areas are passable if very carefully positioned both vehicles. Now the cars even are much wider. I can't easily judge what car size is coming and how much room is left. Especially when being main beamed by a high level headlamped car truck exc... Some are so strong I don't need x-rays to find a health problem!

    • @ZeerakImran
      @ZeerakImran 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Just have to go really slowly past them. Most people just follow the path they predict to be there. The problem is, no one can see what’s actually there. So if someone is standing there talking to someone wearing all black, there is zero chance they’re getting spotted. Just the chance of that is low so people go for it. If you can’t see, then you can’t see. So we should slow down and ban the shhttt out of modern led headlights ffs. No white of blue lights. We have laws against tinting windows but nothing regarding this. Driving at night is easy. Now a days its getting really annoying and dangerous because of these new cars having headlights that should be illegal. No, settings or lowering them doesn’t work. Roads aren’t perfectly flat. Ban them. Make yellow halogens the norm again.

      @ZeerakImran Thanks for your tips. Someone else said to me look at your bonnet if a car approaching blinds you or the white line at the side of the road if it's there. Don't know if it helps not tried it yet. I like that oncoming lights warn you of traffic round blind bends exc on dark roads. And can see stuff coming much further off on the dark country roads. Just an idea. Do you know if I can change the bulb to a different type of I think mine may be the white ones? Is there like some numbers that mean the new ones should fit? Then may be my car won't be a blinder. Thanks.

    Is not that easy, but is not hard. Pedestrians , cyclists 80% of them hjave no lights , remember that at night you only see lights, reflectors and what you headlights lit, nothing else
