I’ve had my Redfoot for 10 years in Wisconsin. He’s got so much personality and it’s been so much fun raising him. An inside tort that loves to leave his 6’x4’ house to roam the floor to cause trouble and takes supervised trips to explore the yard in the summer. I have big dreams of a wonderful garden space for him when I own a house. Tortoises are the best! Don’t let your location stop you from getting one. 😊
I really enjoy Matt's sense of wonder and curiosity about all of your animals. His interest and excitement mirrors my own as I learn about these beautiful creatures. I smile when he gets focused on something and then you can almost see when he says to himself, "Oh yeah, I'm supposed to be filming Kenan."
No, they didn't, because the Kamp doesn't have any grass for them to graze & tortoises are grazing animals, they absolutely need green grasses to graze or at the very least he should give them some hay. They are NOT living their best lives there.
@@NaNaBooBoo24 First, Cherry Heads are a jungle tortoise and not a grassland/arid species like Sulcatas or Leopard Tortoises. They subside on a diet consisting of mainly succulent, tropical green vegetation, flowers, fruit, berries, etc. While they may eat certain grasses when other food is scarce it’s not their primary sustenance. Perhaps you would do better to reserve commenting until you did a bit more research/gained more experience in tortoise husbandry.
@@davidvento5481 Even his sulcata's don't have grass to graze, their living in a pine needle & dust wasteland! And you can't say that even the Cherry heads won't be living their best lives if they did have grass to graze on. Like I said his animals are NOT living their best lives!!
I really enjoy learning new stuff about the cherry heads and all your beautiful animals. Yes, I would keep a cherry headed tortoises. My dream tortoise is the aldabra. Thanks for all you do. 😊
Hi Kenan Good morning, Happy Friday. Your new Cherry heads are so pretty. They are so lucky to come to your Kamp. Their previous took such good care of them. Now yours will have some new friends. And the news ones will have fun exploring their new home. It is so nice to see Matt wanting to learn all about all of your reptiles, and love being around them. Have a wonderful day. Sorry that my comment is late. Cindy
I always forget you're color blind til you mention it. So beautiful. I love red-foots. Don't have a cherry head yet. Would love to take in tortoise rescues in the future. Though not very ideal in Michigan.
Props to the original caretaker of the tortoises. For being from Minnesota he obviously made sure to invest the proper time and resources to keep them healthy
I love Cherry Heads, they are my favorite tortoise. I would LOVE to keep them but I am in NC and they can't stay outside all year. I love watching these videos, one day I may retire in Florida and have a tortoise colony, myself!
I wish they weren't so expensive in my country! Redfoots run between 500 and 800 dollars, and cherry heads start at around 1,000 dollars (converted from my currency.) Not only that, they are extremely hard to find in the first place.
We have four redfoots and two cherry heads. We love them! We are in Iowa, so they are inside for the winter. Would love to get an animal from you sometime! Love your channel!
Nice lookin tortoises! It’s funny right before I sat down and watched this video I was cleaning out my 8x4’ sulcata house….The weather in East Texas got a little chilly, so they made quite a mess in there.
I have a male yellow foot named tank he runs right up to me when I’m in my reptile room and interacts with all my animals, I had an older tegu and they would curl up and sleep together was definitely an odd friendship but they hung out all the time . Would love a cherry head I just think that bright red head is so awesome, definitely in my future . Love the camp and all your little friends
Tortoises NEED access to grasses and hay on which to graze. This is the bulk of their diet (90%) and should be from pesticide- and herbicide-free grass and grass cuttings. At the very least they should have access to some hay!
I Love seeing your "Moving Cherry-Headed Rocks" ! Good news about the newcomers which will surely increase your babies in the future. The newcomers and established residents ALL seem to be checking each other out . And in the background the show was, "Dad, ....dad... Don't forget your Rhinos ! "
Too bad those poor babies won't be able to graze, because that's what they need to do to be happy, happy animals. He has NO green grass there for them to graze on & tortoises are grazing animals. He won't even give them any hay, at the least...smh
I have a red foot tortoise and wanted to get him a female soon…. Those cherry heads are so dang cute, if I were to get a female cherry head will she get along fine with my “taco”? Possibly even mate in the future?
Kenan you should put a paint spot on each Tortoise and have the community vote to name them. Sponsoring them and giving updates to each of their sponsors would be a great program for you as you expand. You can use the money to build them a nice newer hide like the Aldabra/Galapagos and Radiateds lol
I’d love a tortoise, it’s my dream animal but I live in Canada so I don’t know, ideally if it would be the best for the animal. Maybe a very small species.
What are some issues that could arise from housing new guys with a more established colony, and is there a pecking order amongst cherry heads like there is with other turtle species? They’re all gorgeous!!! 🤩
I would most definitely love to keep these tortoises, but they're really hard to come by here in El Salvador 🇸🇻 The permits you need take ages if you end up getting them at all. Good thing I can still enjoy them through your channel Kenan!!
Sulcata tortoises NEED access to grasses and hay on which to graze. This is the bulk of their diet (90%) and should be from pesticide- and herbicide-free grass and grass cuttings.
Good morning Kenan! Have you tried those glasses that help colorblind people see color?? It seems a shame you don't get to see the full beauty of your animals like we do. If you haven't, you should look into them. Great video as always!!
Kenan, I have a Sulcata that I keep outside and she has now burrowed under my house. She seems to get in and out fine but she’s rubbing her shell on top quite a bit. Do you think this will cause future problems down the line or can I let her continue to do as she pleases?
I don't feel comfortable keeping a tropical tortoise here in Maryland where it gets cold. I do have a Russian tortoise though and they can go down to 50 degrees at night no problem. Because they are much more forgiving of cold weather they are more suitable to keep in the climate in which I live. They can even live outside all year here in Maryland if acclimated to outdoor conditions starting in late spring even if they previously lived their entire lives indoors.
Used to watch yoyr videos every day they dropped. Giving away all your snakes over the years was really disheartening and a turn off. Plus your self recording days throughout the virus and onward was awesome. Created a really good sense of immersion.
Look here, Loves & Hugs, but... 10m45s when Kenan had to ask Matt what color he was seeing... I think we need to figure out how to get Kenan some "Color-blindness" glasses, but which "Flavor" of Color-blindness are Ya, Kenan???

You are so right !!!
Matt is an amazing member of the camp now he’s brought so much more to the camp always asking questions and wanting to learn about the reptiles!!!
Welcome, new Cherryheads!! You lucked out to be re-homed to the Kamp!🐢❤️🐢

they just need to acclimate to each other and you've got a good chance. you'd be better off if he had more than one female
