As certain racial and ethnical groups gain a generally high income class, they tend to be under represented in sports. Many children born in low income families view sports as the only means of great success, while wealthy children view it as a past time. This has made sports more culturally significant in many western low income minority groups. For a long time in the early days of basketball jewish men were considered the best basketball players, this may seem odd considering the stereotype that exists today is that jewish people are unathletic, but I believe it illustrates a point. Many Jewish refugees were poor when introduced to america in the 40's and 50's, but with ample government assistance and hard work they became a generally upper class ethnic group, as a result their representation in sports has vastly declined. Many scientist have tried to find a physical genetic adavantage amongst developed children of all races, but no significany discrepancy has been found. The modern conclusion is that these great advantages come from hard work, that many upper income people don't have the motvation to put forth. Other factors also exist, such as cultural beliefs. For instance, in most western white families, sports are the least considered profession, sciences, social studies, and arts are more valued.

I don't see a problem with the Washington Redskins name or symbol at all. Back when Europeans took over what is now known as the United States of America there were still territorial wars going on in the rest of the world, but no one seems to care about those. Hell there's still territorial wars going on today but it's ok right because no one is killing "Native Americans". Oh and here's a little history lesson for you about Native Americans... they weren't the first people on this continent so they are NOT indigenous to this land. A comparative analysis of US Black athletes and foreign Black athletes will quickly demonstrate a hugely significant playing ability, in favor of the Americans. What can explain this? Jimmy the Greek nailed it. The problem is, he said it publicly. The minds of overly sensitive, PC snowflakes couldn't handle reality.
If you consider the deplorable, inhumane and heinous act of merely transporting slaves, from Africa to the US; many of them died, on the voyage across the Atlantic. Then, what was done to these people, after their arrival was even more cruel and inhumane. Throughout the entire 300 year history of US slavery - dating back to the 1500s - only the strongest could survive. Only the strongest were allowed to procreate.
Retelling historical facts, just as they were is not racist. Racism comes into play when someone sees this history and wishes it could return to those days, or somehow feels these people deserved their fate. Personally, I find that part of American history to be the most disgusting thing about America. To color over it or make it taboo to discuss historical facts, because it might offend someone, is simply asking for racism to continue. People are afraid and dislike what they do not know or understand.

Btw, I have been watching pro sports for 40 plus years, played baseball in the minors and was a member of the Jr. U.S. Olympic wrestling team for several years. I never knew that names like Redskins, Redmen etc were racial. My mom and dad didn't bring up racism until my brother and I were in are teens. We were called "Wetbacks" by some sheriffs during an incident where we were witnesses. To be honest at that time I hadn't heard that terminology at all so when they talked to us about it later I was surprised!!! Those were different times!! At least in our home in the mid 80's to mid 90's. Then certainly after I made certain choices I heard it all!! Idk, I think the main reason most great athletes have been black is because sports have always been a poor man's profession and unfortunately spanning nations black populations have generally been in the lower income brackets. As certain racial and ethnical groups gain a generally high income class, they tend to be under represented in sports. Many children born in low income families view sports as the only means of great success, while wealthy children view it as a past time. This has made sports more culturally significant in many western low income minority groups. For a long time in the early days of basketball jewish men were considered the best basketball players, this may seem odd considering the stereotype that exists today is that jewish people are unathletic, but I believe it illustrates a point. Many Jewish refugees were poor when introduced to america in the 40's and 50's, but with ample government assistance and hard work they became a generally upper class ethnic group, as a result their representation in sports has vastly declined. Many scientist have tried to find a physical genetic adavantage amongst developed children of all races, but no significany discrepancy has been found. The modern conclusion is that these great advantages come from hard work, that many upper income people don't have the motvation to put forth. Other factors also exist, such as cultural beliefs. For instance, in most western white families, sports are the least considered profession, sciences, social studies, and arts are more valued.

Not all slaves had this treatment, not all blacks of today had slave ancestors in the US, and the gene pool that was cultivated through this selective breeding has long since been tainted as people inevitably reproduced with others outside that "ideal" that the slave owners were trying to attain. It is true, but his generalization that that was why blacks are better athletes doesn't apply to today. That's like saying Greeks from the area of Sparta should still have all those qualities making them the best warriors in the world.... Back when Europeans took over what is now known as the United States of America there were still territorial wars going on in the rest of the world, but no one seems to care about those. Hell there's still territorial wars going on today but it's ok right because no one is killing "Native Americans". Oh and here's a little history lesson for you about Native Americans... they weren't the first people on this continent so they are NOT indigenous to this land. In fact they came across the Bering Strait and massacred the Clovis tribes who first came here 13,000 years ago from Asia. Not only that... for thousands of years after they slaughtered each other to in fact gain control of territories. So it's ok for them to do it to other people but lets all boohoo 200 years after it was done to them for a political narrative. The funny thing about all this was people blaming Christopher Columbus for the demise of the Native Americans and he never even set foot on American soil. As a matter of fact the Vikings were coming to this region a 1,000 years before Columbus existed. Which brings me to this point... why is it ok and not racist for the Vikings to have the name Vikings and a Viking on their helmet when they were also slaughtered by other civilizations in the end of their reign, but not ok and racist to have an "Indian" on the helmet of the Washington Redskins and have that name? Hypocrisy and Ignorance definitely go hand in hand.
