Yeah that raise was so bad. You literally have the second nuts. What are you protecting from? At best your opponent has 2 outs no matter what they have
It depends on your playing style. If you raise the flop not only with the nuts but also with draws and bluffs. Probably thought his opponent had an 8.. but agree most of the time this should be a call to keep your strength disguised.
Actually getting money in is the only play. If a flush comes the guy with the 8 folds if it doesn't come the guy with the flush draw never pays. Raise was 100% the correct play
Yea, considering his stack size relative to the pot, there's no reason to play it fast, good spot to lure the other player to put money in the pot as well.
He actually had 2% equity. The 10 of diamonds was already folded. Their % calculator doesn’t take folded cards into account. It was basing it off of the 5 of diamonds and the 10 but he only had the 5
I'm highly skeptical of the legitimacy of all of that, I've been playing poker a long time, why would anyone who flopped top boat want to risk chasing other players away by raising the flop?
@@CanadianLoveKnot ..... that's the point dimwit. The raiser had < 2x SPR. Raising in that situation is setting money on fire. Raising chases out the third player who's far less likely to call, and even weaker draws by the original better may decide not to continue.
@Hotobu I didn't realize he only had 1 spr behind if he calls. If they were deeper, a raise in position is reasonable when facing a 1/3 bet size lead. But it depends on the players' strategy and tablet image.
I don’t know of any pokers room where nines full of eights qualifies for a bad beat. If you know of one, let me know. If it was quad 9s that would be different.
@@5c0rp101 Oh yeah, it's got to be quads beaten by a straight or royal flush, right? OK but the first part of my question stands. Can they have bad beats at the lodge (or more importantly at the card room near me in north Fort Worth)?
OK the raise was good, from sure, but he fail on nuts. He had very fair change to win even if opponent had set. Basically the 99 the 88 or the 89 have the opponent really behind.
that jim guy played this terrible and made terrible decision. why raise the flop bet and why go once? knowing he actually has a draw to win? more you run! more chance for you to win the chips!
Lol come on to run twice, must be accept from opponent first. The opponent had basically no reason to even thing the twice. And basically not change much. If they run twice, and the second time hit the strait flush, then you said deference.

Yeah the commentators and the computer takes into consideration all the hole cards that were folded pre-flop when calculating their odds for victory. When you're calculating your own odds when you don't know your opponents folded hole cards, so the percentages are going to come out differently than what we see on these live games.
Jim started sweating bullets when he realized Bash had an out.

Shouldn't outs calculator show for the person behind in hand rank not equity?

Never had a doubt.

Karmas a bitch, he knew he was miles ahead and decided to run it once.
Why is that karma? Running it twice isn't a gift to your opponent. It's a strategic decision to deflate the effects of variance.
