That may be true, but in this case it still boils down to the artist willingly humiliating themselves. It begs the question, do the promoters fully understand what is going on? What do the contracts say? Are there legal implications of fraud, not to the fans, but the promoters and underwriters of these tours? Who is really pulling the strings... the cigar-chomping industry caricatures, or has that role shifted to the artists in an ironic role reversal?
Fil I think it’s awesome that you are taking action to change the music industry to be more transparent. I’m looking forward to when you are able to launch and share the details! You have incredible patience, I can’t imagine what it’s been like from your perspective, for years being constantly asked if something is pitch corrected or mimed.
Excellent! University music programs should be alerted once the secret FIL project is revealed. They are creating next gen sound engineers and music artists, but they also teach music industry business models….tons of room for evolution, or maybe a revolution!
Hopefully they have an actual system to play the vinyl on and not one of those crappy self-contained record player things they have today. You're not getting the benefits of vinyl unless you have the stereo system to show them to you
Very excited for the new project and your vision for the future! Thrilling to think of you changing the music industry Fil ❗️ Thanks for working on the big picture! 🏆
Hi Fil, Thank you for this video! I think you have an incredible plan, and I can't wait to hear all the details about it. I am here for you as well as all your loyal people are, and ready to help in any way I (we) can! Love and Rock! 🎸🤘💜
Fil, as I said in an earlier comment a month or two ago, in the future there could be a "music seal of approval" that artists can submit their work for authentication, much like the organic food industry where farm practices are authenticated . Those artists that don't submit their work for analysis, don't get to put the seal on their Album. Fans that want to know what they are actually listening to, will look for the seal of approval. You may be starting a new movement & I'm all for it. Go Fil!!!
This may need to happen, but for a different reason. AI is making it possible to fool audiences regarding their favorite artists. Jungkook had mentioned in his livestream, how he hears the AI versions of himself singing other artists songs and worries if he'll be replaced eventually (never). This can become big problem for male artist in Korea since they're mandated to enlist in the military around the time their careers are red hot. That industry uses these tricks a lot so AI could easily replace some of those guys.
They'll be enough idiots who love AI and don't care... Let's face it, most young people are happy to pay to see some plonker on a laptop playing other people's music. They're just not interested in organic music, just getting off their heads in synthetic drugs, listening to synthetic music.
As an 88 yr old still working in broadcast engineering, I was not paying attention to some of the technology you have been showcasing in your channel, until I ran across it here. My biggest beef besides your exposure to pitch correction, autotune, and other technology, is the way the modern singer holds their mike: right up to their lips. If you did a frequency annalysis of this and compare it to a mic kept at a distance, you would see on the scope a better waveform. The old crooners of my day like Pery Como, Bing Crosby, Patti page, and others before all the technology altered their voices sounded great, warts and all. Of course, the electronics between the voice and the speaker or headphones does change things a bit, but the early engineers tried to make their waveforms as close as possible t the actual waveform being developed by the vocal chords. Then technology got into the mix, and made even a lousy singer sound good. It technology is done correctly, it will always try to emulate the actual sound of the singer. So, I'm very much with your channel exposing all this make believe sound.
You’re 88 and still not retired? Good on you! And why not! The Stones are still working! Thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge and welcome to Fil’s channel! Everyone is really nice here. He does a livestream on Tues and Sat usually, hope to see you.
Close-miking really took off after Karen Carpenter exploited the proximity effect of the then-new dynamic response mike that selectively amplified the lower frequencies, giving her "the basement" and leading to the every-woman-a-contralto era that persists to this day.
Being in the business as long as you have, I’m sure you’re an invaluable source to studios and artists looking for someone who knows not only what they’re doing, but also the best approaches to recording in different ways etc. Sounds like a very fulfilling life!

Well done, this is absolutely fantastic, so glad your're taking everything to the next level. The actors and musicians in the new Bob Dylan movie "A Complete Unknown" are being praised for their live music performances without autotune .. There's a real appreciation for the original sound of the vintage equipment used in the movie. It's an awakening and the right timing for the work you are doing.
@@housevo330 The vintage equipment and microphones capture the psychedelic sound and vibe of the era. I think it's as authentic as they can get it for cinema stereo. After all, it's a movie, not a concert. The fact that it's being discussed by the film makers themselves in the making of the movie videos and the casting was chosen for authenticity makes the timing ripe for this subject to be brought to light,
@@housevo330 There’s no pitch correction in the trailer. I already asked Fil about it and he watched and analyzed it. And the trailer was just clips from the movie, so I think you may be wrong. I don’t see any way someone could imitate Bob with pitch correction involved.

If you paid a lot of money for a product that came in parts to be be assembled but some of the parts were missing you wouldn't be happy and would demand to know what's going on. That's what's been happening at some "live" shows people aren't getting everything they think they're paying for. Glad you're trying to do something about it Fil.
I watched an older video from WoP the other day, and it struck me, before the pitch correction monitoring, Fil's analyses were more about "what makes this (song or song element) great" and now days it's more like "what makes this performance suck." Which I'm glad is being done, but I totally can see why Fil wants to try to make the music industry change for the better.

I’ll certainly be helping 👍🏻been sharing your videos on several news and fan pages when they say an artist “sang” amazing, to prove to them those reading that they didn’t.
Thank you, Fil, for being straightforward and pointing out what is going on with concerts and TV performances. I hope there are enough of us to spread the word and let the music industry know that WE KNOW what they're doing.
To be fair, tv performances are different. There are (were?) technical reasons why the older tv performances had to be lip synced. I think that’s changed, with different technology in broadcasting. As far as the "talent” contest singing shows, I think there’s a lot of fakery and scripting, just like other "reality” shows. I’m concerned about concerts and albums. We need transparency there.
You would "think" that these artists would want their fans to receive the ultimate show? No? But, again, some have not even cared to be up-front about it at all. Very sad. Anyhow! Great work! Thank you Fil!🌷
I discussed some of the Taylor Swift fakes analyses with some huge fans at my work. They thought I was blowing this out of proportion, but as I made the same arguments in this video, they finally appreciated the $1000/ticket being a rip-off for fans wanting to hear their favorite singer. The "full disclosure" concept here is completely appropriate to bring up to ticket buyers. Sadly, some of the fans admittedly don't care if Taylor Swift is a fake. Their fandom has taken over what should incite rational thinking. Good luck, Fil. There are lot of younger fans who won't care about any of this....
Having a right ding dong with Swift fans saying they dont mind if she mimes as she does long shows....Really? Iron maiden do long shows and tour alot - all live! You are right. younger fans dont seem to care
Fil, I admire and respect you. You have demonstrated courage and in depth knowledge and integrity. As some of us in America might say, you’re a swell guy. Go, kid, go!
Honestly, I just hope this helps you find some mental and emotional peace if this issue has been weighing on you so much. And I also hope people don’t get so disappointed when others continue paying just for the experience of being part of a collective moment and enjoying the performance-which is a big part of why concerts are so loved. Or when others choose to stick to enjoying edited music simply because that’s what they’ve decided works for them. Let’s remember that these are equally valid positions, just like yours.
I also hope your project encourages people to explore the specific circumstances of each artist, because there must be different reasons and forces at play that can only be fully understood by stepping into their shoes.
“So you want a revolution…” Fil, I’ve been following your channel since February 2020. I’ve seen your channel grow and watched you grow in terms of what you stand for in music. I’ve always admired your persistence in your work. It appears that your secret project will no longer be a secret. I’m all for maintaining honesty and integrity in proving what’s happening in the music industry. Perhaps I sound a bit off by saying this, but I hope that this honest approach will remain with your followers. Change is inevitable but as long as you remain true, your Wingers will stand by you. Let’s see what 2025 will bring. Thanks for the update. Cheers!
Yes!! We've gotten used to photoshopped or otherwise manipulated images in commercials and magazines being clearly marked as such. I think we are ready for something similar for music, too!
Brilliant, Fil. It is so refreshing to have someone being the standard bearer for ethical behaviour and honesty in the music industry. Really looking forward to hearing your idea, and spreading the word about it.
I know this is a bit specific, but I have been doing the nostalgic thing lately, and currently, I am binge watching Journey videos with Steve Perry as the frontman. And it's clear to me that he is one of a kind vocally as well as in his charismatic stage presence. And I find it incredibly impossible to believe that the various vocalists that have been employed over the years to replace him could even come close to emulating his voice, yet they do. Is it possible they are miming, using autotune or pitch correction in their performances? It would be interesting to see an analysis on that.
I am right behind you Fil. I have watched many of your analysis videos now and I thoroughly enjoy your very capable articulation of your deep and detailed knowledge of this disturbing topic. Great work!! Keep it up and keep calling it out !
Of course we are all here and ready to support you Fil. I think the timing on this may be good, have you picked a launch date yet? 😁 Enough people within the music industry are freaking out about AI music, and how that may affect them that they may be more receptive to a push towards authenticity and transparency than they would otherwise.
We're all here to support you Fil. In my opinion the work that you're doing is incredibly important for the integrity of music. Thank you for standing up to the man and speaking out. Don't ever let anyone tell you that no one cares, because there are so many of us who are small musicians, fans, regular people with no platform and you're sticking up for all of us. So thank you for doing what you do, it really means a lot
Yes! Cliff Richard will be 85 when he tours NZ next year. He is still brilliant in concert. But back in the 90s, there was a slight glitch during one song - which made me wonder if the whole show was lip sync 2025 $200/300 ticket price. The concert atmosphere is awesome, I have mixed feelings. If he sings 'live' and slightly off, will it spoil the experience. ( although, I'm sure his voice is still capable - most rearrange songs slightly, when they no longer have the range to sing the original. I guess a live show is a total 'performance' experience. Maybe price tags should reflect whether they are genuinely 'live' or lip sync. *but that will never happen😅
Ready to support you Fil .Either they play live mistakes included or go or go shopping .Followers of music know that albums are not one take efforts that bits and pieces even from different sessions and years are used to make up a single track .💪🏼
I’m thrilled that you are working on this Fil and I’d be pleased to do anything to spread the word and help you to ‘single handedly’ change the current music industry… and allow the public to know what they are listening to. So glad to hear it. 👍
I'm very glad to hear that you are hatching a plan. I don't attend many live shows these days as I'm in my 7th decade and large young crowds are no longer a thrill for me. But, I do want to know what I'm buying when I do buy a concert ticket. Thanks, Fil!
Fil, even though I am miming this, I am with you 100%. The power is with the people, once they wake up and realize that their $1,000-$15,000 ticket got them a lipsyncing/miming/autotuned/pitched-corrected concert. Say the word and have a great New YEAR!!!
We're going to need memes, high quality memes that somehow get the word out without putting down the artists. Do we focus on the record companies, producers, etc.? Do we pressure artists in general to take pride in the fact that they're either not part of the problem or not part of the problem any longer? Maybe we start with some of the more popular TH-cam artists who are making a living without the "help" of record companies. Would some of them taking the lead put some extra bucks in their pockets and just maybe get the industry a little worried? Because you know money will have to play a role if we really want this to change. Lots of things to think about here ...
Very salient point there about money playing a role if we are going to be successful in this campaign. And some very good questions to consider, as well. I hope many of our favourite artists and bands from the seventies and eighties will get on board because it is the retroactive application of pitch correction and autotuning on those classic rock albums from decades ago (when they are re-released or when songs are officially uploaded anew to digital platforms and streaming services) that would seem to be the easiest case to make for disclosing the use of pitch "correction" and/or autotuning and, indeed, for the prevention altogether of the retroactive and posthumous use of digital pitch correction.
Just tonight I listened to a newly-released 30-minute recording of Barbra Streisand at 21 years of age singing at the Hungry i in San Francisco. I shudder to think how that amazing experience would have changed if studio technicians had gotten hold of this and 'corrected' it. You have my total support.
Streisand had a unique contract that gave her artistic control in exchange for not getting an advance. I don't think such a contract has since been offered to a previously unsigned artist by a major label.
Excited for this side project to be revealed, I think I have an idea of what it is. I’m really glad that you will going back to analysis of great artists again I will also go insane if I had to spend hours listening to pitch correction and looking at mime performances all day! I think my generation and generation after doesn’t care too much about pitch correction and auto tune, but I’ll try by best to get the word out because this is a travesty. Hope 2025 will be a big one to bring back transparency to the music industry. Fight the good fight Fil!
Mate! It was only during your previous video that I was thinking, "Okay, we've now watched and heard tons of proof of what's really been going on the Music Industry - but what can *we* do about it??" 😀 So I'm very curious to find out in the new year what exactly you've thought out, Fil 😉👍

The status attained from possession of a ticket does not depend on how the vocals are effected.
Fil, I admire and respect you. You have demonstrated courage and in depth knowledge and integrity.
As some of us in America might say, you’re a swell guy. Go, kid, go!
Thank you Fil. It's going to be great.
I have years learning to be at my level and I am in 100%. Love authentic and real!
Yes - this sounds amazing - Fil!!! 💗💗💗
Cheers!
Sounds hopeful and exciting, Fil! Roll on 2025!
Lie detectors? You are a good artist! Use your larger popularity to make good music! The kids need to hear it!
Yes!! We've gotten used to photoshopped or otherwise manipulated images in commercials and magazines being clearly marked as such. I think we are ready for something similar for music, too!
Yes! We're with you Fil!
Thank you sir! I wouldn't miss this for the world!!!!
Thanks!
Thank you!
2025 the "come to Jesus" year for the music industry? Anything's possible ⚠🏷🎶
😂👌
Happy to support you with this Fil
Some sort of accreditation for us pub/club bands that never mime or use this technology would be good
All I ask of bar bands is to be more engaging that whatever sportsball is on the big screen. I really don't care how they get there.
Go Fil go. Thank you for all your work to make things better.
Brilliant, Fil.
It is so refreshing to have someone being the standard bearer for ethical behaviour and honesty in the music industry.
Really looking forward to hearing your idea, and spreading the word about it.
Of course, you have my support 100%!
Fil Wings of Pegasus is making important music history!!
Fil, you're awesome! 🤩
Go Fil you're the Superman of music correction 😅 love the show, Happy New Year travel safely 😊😊😊
Too bad Ken Tamplin turned them down. We would know for sure that it’s lip synced.
I am right behind you Fil. I have watched many of your analysis videos now and I thoroughly enjoy your very capable articulation of your deep and detailed knowledge of this disturbing topic. Great work!! Keep it up and keep calling it out !
It is time for things to change. Thank God for Wings of Pegasus and now I know modern Eagles are miming.
They're Des-per-a-doh...
I'm on board with ya. Transparency is direly needed.
Thank you Fil,something definitely has to be done
Very important work you are doing here. Cheers, Fil!
I'm very glad to hear that you are hatching a plan. I don't attend many live shows these days as I'm in my 7th decade and large young crowds are no longer a thrill for me. But, I do want to know what I'm buying when I do buy a concert ticket. Thanks, Fil!
Keepin it real !
Yes please. I am ready.
YES! To the bat cave Fil, Wingers are with you 🎸🤘
'Fully-live / Pegasus Approved' accreditation is something a lot of bands would be proud to display, Build it and they will come!
ALWAYS behind you on this!! Amazed that more people aren't doing the same thing
Ah, well you know I'm in!
I'll share it to my Facebook page and also on my community page! Thank you!
Really appreciate the effort you're putting into this worthwhile cause!!❤
Mate! It was only during your previous video that I was thinking, "Okay, we've now watched and heard tons of proof of what's really been going on the Music Industry - but what can *we* do about it??" 😀
So I'm very curious to find out in the new year what exactly you've thought out, Fil
😉👍
Fil has a petition linked in every livestream video, in the description. We need more signatures.
Great work Fil, you’re an angel in this dark industry
Good luck Fil. I will show this video to a few people. Thanks Good Luck. And Happy New Year. Nothing happened yet. But good luck on this. I will try and send this video to one of your new wingers. And maybe he might be able to help you. If he isn’t busy.
