I'd just found out that CN had taken up trackage rights on the old Illinois Central. I'm super surprised that it happened ! I rode The City of New Orleans from Chicago to Nawlins in June of '92 via Amtrak. This was done totally from a railfan perspective. It was great to ride those rails & see the Illinnois Central Gulf. I was disappointed that ICG had changed their paint scheme from white, orange with black lettering to all black w white lettering at the time. Now I feel fortunate enough to have seen them at all... At the time, I was also thrilled to see Wisconsin Central around Chicago. Plus the CTA/Metra commuter trains, which were still using the old E-8's still half way in their Burlington Northern livery.... But man, CN reaching down to Nawlins ?
I also recall seeing tons of sidings with bulkhead ended flatcars stacked with pulp wood & high-sided hoppers filled with wood chips. I was guessing, at the time, that this was the particle board/plywood industry in action on these rail sidings. A lot of smoke in these areas, too. I'll give myself a lot of credit for having remembered any of the above; I was severely crippled at the time- drunk ! Young, dumb & full of cum, I mean, Newcastle Brown Ale !! 😎

I've been here a few times, really loud diamonds, you can here them a mile away on Route 59. Wonder if any trains roll through here at 3 in the morning. Residential area. Saw Big Boy here to.

Correction. 4 tracks ? Quad dimond over a opposing single track? Mega cool

They have a speaker that amplifies the clanking noises.

roy ubaldo trains like that don't show the lights on, however I believe they forgot to shut it down before doing a depart to Chicago.

This area is known as a quiet zone. Engines are not allowed to use their horns in this zone
