Ok, here is a simple explanation for the ones who dont know much about the lore.
Geno was a regular sans on a genocide run. He injected himself with DT and saved right when he died, so he got stuck in the save screen with frisk. When chara got in the save screen, Geno killed Chara in order to control the universe. After some events that i won't spoil, he managed to get a pacifist ending. He was too naive though, so he played around with the power of DT, so he somehow got himself stuck in the Anti-Void. He spent so much time there, that he lost his memory and became what we know of as "Error"
He learnt about dimension travelling, so he started killing AUs because he hated everyone, until he met Geno (himself). And that's how this story begins.
I heard a slightly different story instead of messing around with pacifist ending he died I believe and glitche to the anti void and was such there for a long time and stated glitching out trying to escape and he did and forgot everything but his goal which he sort of forgot which was to end frisk and charas then it turned into glitches (don't remember the story well)

Huh, Aftertale has a much more complex lore than I remember when I was at my first Undertale phase

This makes complete sense though.
Geno exists outside of the normal game code within the save screen, his very code prevents him from experiencing death due to his circumstances.
Error is a being capable of accessing the game files, and is able to “kill” sentient code, erasing the data completely.
Error “killing” Geno triggered a segmentation fault, a segmentation fault occurs when a program or entity attempts to bypass or load and illegal memory or action, creating a paradox within the script and crashing it entirely.
Error attempted to kill Geno while Geno was still in the save screen, rendering him immune against death, but because Error is a program that can override code itself in order to delete it, Error basically completely blue screened Geno instead.
The voice acting is always top tier, you never cease to impress

red - verbally and sometimes physically abused by his brother.
cross - his word became corrupted and erased, after a chaotic genocide run.

This is officially stated by Error's creator (who created both Error and Geno)

Fatal is like Error. But whiter.
The creator actually said that Error is Geno so when you think like that Error is literally talking to himself.
6:31 is when Fatal actually appears. Before that, it was Geno.
Fatal!Error is actually inspired as a mash between the two, and this is just the origin story for Fatal.
If you want to get deeper into the lore, here goes:
Geno can’t die because he is on the save screen, which is how he has been surviving in the first place. Error comes to the save screen and attempts to kill/erase Geno since he is a “glitch.” However, that doesn’t work because Geno can’t die, causing an error, which then becomes Fatal.
Geno’s original goal is to allow Papyrus have a better life than the genocide route he was in, which influences Fatal because technically, he is a Geno who glitches out.
Fatal’s goal is to put Papyrus back together after Error had messed up his timeline (in the later chapters).
Error is a version of Geno that got stuck in the Anti-Void
So when Error went and tried to kill Geno (basically past him who also can't die) it caused a Fatal Error

Basically error-san is like a more serious version of merlow the gizoid from the sonic fandom universe. Merlow wants to destroy the sonic fandom universe because its a sloppy universe, and because sonic fandom. Error sans wants to destroy all au's because there's too many to count, and makes the multiverse sloppy, and because undertale fandom.
