In this episode of Dialing In... I take a look at the new to firmware 3.15 ADT double tracker/tape emulation block we recently received. I am not usually a fan of doubler plugins but this one is quite usable. In the video I take an in depth look at what each parameter does and how we can use it to get this fx block sounding great! I really hope you enjoy the video!
As always, thanks so much for watching...

The versatility and variety of useful tones is surprising. I had no clear idea what the ADT could do until watching this video. The fact that we get such amazing sounding effects in the digital domain from Line 6 Helix is nothing short of amazing and is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I’ve been waiting for an explanation like this of the ADT. Thanks Jason! Awesome demo and tones!
LOVE the idea of putting it in a parallel path to blend it in and retain the original signal. Genius.

yeah that change was the icing on the cake for sure. Helix rocks and keeps on giving

Great Job Line 6! One of my favorite effects, and I've been getting by using a very short delay or the Retro Reel etc but this is the doubler we needed! I play bass in a metal band and I get some wicked power with this doubler to make my bass sound HUGE!!

      @bangsart13 ปีที่แล้ว

So, you use 2 channel out for your bass?

    Agree with you Jason 100%!
The Doubler was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Without it, I was struggling to find the right combination of the Double Take, short delays, flanger, chorus, multiple, etc, to get a particular “wide/thick” tone, but it was never satisfying…
    Until now!
The Helix really is perfect for my needs now that Line6 gave us the 3.15 update.
    :)

By adding the Split A/B block, you’ve sorta turned the tape doubler into a tape tripler!

The ADT effect rules for vocals, aswell. Depending on how you dial it in, you can get that killer 80s chorused sheen or a nice double tracked vocal take in general to thicken things up.
    Love it.

@17:11 is about as 80s a tone as has ever been produced! Steve Vai straight from White Snake right there.

Genius! Love the ADT, but never thought of some of the ideas shared here. Path B and controlling the mix is the key. Thx!

HUGE sound at 18:51. Great video, as usual, @JasonSadites. So helpful. Good observations on the "mix" between Deck 1 and 2, and parallel paths.

Awesome tutorial and overview of the ADT effect Jason. So many cool ways to get a great sound with this one and fatten up your tone fone for sure. Cant wait to try this one out on my LT. Need to update to 3.15 first... been busy with other stuff so no guitar playing for me for a while :( Keep rocking and keep the 3.15 content coming!

Im hearing some good tones for some zztop maybe? Or even dimebag darrells sound? Im not very technical when it comes to guitar gear but those bands came to mind.

I use it on an fx loop with an ehx mel9 to give the pedal some spread and extra depth.

I was hoping someone would make a video on this effect. I’m wondering if this is similar or can do what the Keeley 30ms Double Tracker can do.

Hey Jason - perhaps very dumb question, perhaps not: is there any reason or benefit to having certain blocks on the first or second path? Or is it totally personal preference in terms of "spacing" out the blocks mentally? (Hopefully this question makes sense...)

Personally I find that using a flanger effect in stereo with LFO Freeze effect on, give me doubling tones I find very appealing, and better than what the ADT or Retro Reel gives me. Any comments on that ? and do you use doubling effect in live situations ? I play in a rockband with 2 guitars and keys, and though I like the sound of the Flanger doubling, it might be too much in a band/live context, at least for rhythm parts. Any advice ?

Loaded up a Stereo instance of Helix Native... and don't see the pan controls in the ADT? I thought they were the same. Anyone know why that might be? I sure wish Line 6 had used the great interface they had going with POD FARM2. This thing sucks to me. Hard to even tell whats on or off at times with those little boxes.

the faint grey line going thru the effect icon is also the indicator. If the faint grey line runs THRU the block its OFF. if it shows the color box around the icon and the grey line goes into and OUT of the block icon but not thru it then its ON. Hope this helps
