We only have channels and flatheads. I target channels all Summer, then target the flatheads in October. I like to keep a couple of the smaller flats (5-10#) each year. I usually try to keep around 2 dozen nice channels (2-4#) each year. Smoke most of em. Thanks for the videos. Stuck inside right now waiting for ice. I switch to bluegills and pike in the Winter. I have caught a few cats through the ice by accident. They fight really hard in the colder water.
Thanks for watching the video. Flatheads are my favorite to eat when I keep some. Such a clean tasting catfish. I’ve seen some guys smoke catfish but haven’t tried it. Definitely on my list of things to do if I get a smoker one day. Right now I either fry it or blacken it.
Great to see another video…!!! Always enjoy the footage… curious about using eel for bait … how/where do you get those guys…???? We’ve been havn great luck with beef loverz….!!
Appreciate you taking time to watch! You can catch them locally and we have several bait shops that sell them. You can catch them on red worms or put out eel traps. They’re a pretty good bait and about impossible to get off a hook. One eel will last ya all night a lot of times.
Loved the video. Nice blues and channels cats. My water is strictly channel cats. We have monster carp 40 pound plus. I hook into while catfishing frequently lol.
@@ftlitos3943 that will depend on the size of the bait also. Generally you will always see me with the 8/0 or 10/0. If using really small bait say for channel cats I might step down to a 6/0. If I have a giant live bait or cut bait that fills up too much of the gap them I would step up to a 12/0.
@@nccatfishing no thats the red river in north dakota, we have big blues and flatheads , im where the red river runs into lake texoma, alot of channels but not the big ones like up north
