- In this iPad student review, I give a VERY honest review of the iPad Pro. Is the iPad Pro is good for students? Should you get an iPad or a laptop? These are questions that I had too and after six months of using both the iPad Pro and MacBook, I thought I would give you my thoughts on both.
Overall, the iPad is very good for note taking. I’m pretty sure you knew this from all the “iPad note-taking’ videos (I binged watch them too). The iPad is very convenient and should be used by every student. However, it is expensive.
The iPad and iPad Pro come with a lot of ‘hidden’ costs that you might not have considered when buying it at first. The iPad and Apple Pen is enough to do the bare minimum, but you need the bluetooth keyboard and mouse (link to mine down below) to fully utilise it as an equipment for school/college/university.

if you are deciding between a laptop and an iPad, I'd strongly recommend a laptop based on my personal experience.
I personally feel that a laptop has features that iPad does not have, and supports desktop apps and layouts, which many schools use. Additionally, paper and pen do just fine, and an iPad does not replace the experience entirely, or that well.
I fell into the trap of watching iPad unboxing videos and thus began saving up to get an iPad. if I could turn back time, I don't think I would buy it again, especially since I find it much easier to do things on my laptop, and I prefer the feel of pen and paper. It's good as a media consumption device, or if you don't really need to type assignments out. But I'd strongly suggest for people to think carefully if they really need an iPad, because I realised that I don't.
that being said, I do enjoy using the iPad! its super pretty and I can draw on it, which is pretty fun tbh.

I can't even explain how much you inspire me with your videos. I'm a student and also want to be a youtuber but I'm always stressed thinking how will I manage both the things well but you're a constant source of motivation! Tysm💌
As someone who used iPad Air 4, I don’t think there are any different feeling using it without the pro motion of iPad Pro. When I wrote note, there wasn’t any ‘lagging feeling’ . I thought a lot when considering buying pro or not because of that pro motion. And i agree with Faye that laptop is more necessary than iPad if you need to choose.

It might be great for other students , but I can't imagine myself staring at screen for hours to study , my eyes burned and my head was paining , and felt sleepy , my eyes felt numb . I thought I will get used to it , but after few months of using , my eyes felt blurry day by day and I got glasses instead . Now , after paying for I pad , the vision kept getting blur so had operation to correct my vision , got scolded by parents . Didn't had a good experience with I pad :( . So I use books now , they help me study without harming me , don't give me headaches , don't give out harmful radiations and also don't affect my eyes. If u talk about laptop/computer ,the screen is a bit more far , but with I pad it's more closer ,and I heard somewhere the light from phone and I pad is more harmful than laptop / computer . And of course it's my experience , if u want u can buy but remember it's life time decision cause it's definitely expensive . U can use for sometimes or to keep it docs and edit sometimes or something like that , but if u study for many hours in a day , with or without breaks , please think again . Thank you ❤️

I agree on the feel of the glass! as an artist I bought a paperlike! My pen tip has lasted 9 months so far. I made a full review on it :) It has its cons but for what I need it works well! I love taking notes on it as well!

I have the dell 2-in-one laptop which is a lot more convenient in my opinion as I only have to carry around one device. Although you need to purchase a digital pen, it's far cheaper than the apple pencil and if you get the mesh tip it doesn't wear down. I think its a really good option for students since its about the price of a MacBook but is more functional
(note: the touch screen is not the highest quality and it can compare to the cheapest iPad model and I'm not really sure if they make paper screen protectors for laptops)

I got an iPad air 4 and I have to say, am iPad 8th gen would've been perfect for my needs and wallet. The pro model is definitely not essential for students unless they really need the extra inches on the screen or sell their digital art.

The battery life is superb, the landscape camera is a winner for me, the shape is suitable for my carrying case. As part of my purchase, I threw in a case from ESR, and a Logitech Crayon to compliment my purchase. So far so good on my iPad. The Logitech Crayon works perfectly with it as well.

You don’t have to keep airdrop-ing your stuff hehe you can copy paste across apple devices, (like copy something on your MacBook then press paste on the iPad) just make your “handoff” settings are turned on 😊

One tip : if you sign in your iphone and ipad with the same apple account, you can copy pics/words from one device and paste it to another☺️

you can make a website compatible for an ipad by pressing the three dots (chrome) or the Aa (safari) then request the desktop website!! then everything should look exactly how it would look on a computer as long as you have the ipad in landscape mode (sideways). hope this helps :)

Bought one for myself last fall, best notebook ever! Only worth it for students, if you already have a laptop or some sort pc, preferably in the ecosystem. Apples ecosystem makes everything worth it.

About the zoom tool, it is actually there so that you don’t have to move the screen every time, rather than just zooming in. Also, since the video is already three years old, Goodnotes has the recording feature too by now. I hope this helps

🍎 I have a 2 in 1 laptop, but drawing on it is kinda wonky. The ipad-apple pen combo is the best in my experience so far. Im using an ipad mini 5 and planning to donate my body to science for an ipad pro. The ipad mini is good for small illustrations and stuff but I often find my hands slipping outside the edge and messing up my lines. 😭

During my foundation year, I am planning to get ipad for my degree and guess what I am happy that i didnt get one coz in my degree (computer science), you need a freaking laptop with good spec (i5 or ryzen 5 at least) to do coding as this is the core subject for this course. You can use laptop for notetaking but its not worth it from my pov as a cs student. So for future cs student, invest yourself in a good spec laptop with comfortable keyboard .
After all paper and pen note taking are the best 😊
