- Not My Bag is a short documentary exploring our lifestyle choices. It’s examining the individual responsibility for the climate crises that we face. The story follows a journey of two women, Beta and Olga who meet during regular Saturday litter-pick in Crumlin, their Dublin neighbourhood.
The documentary narrators are confronting the concept of putting the climate action responsibility on citizens who don’t have resources to avoid the accumulation of single use plastic and packaging. Above all, they are questioning the outcomes of recycling that is often being presented as the most effective contribution to help tackle the environmental disaster.
The documentary is the testament to the importance of governmental support that communities need to receive in order to be able to implement significant climate actions. The earnest look at the Crumlin area shows the lack of leadership which is negatively affecting every aspect of life of this suburban community, including mental health of its individuals.
Not My Bag documentary suggests that only dedicated long term solutions into the waste management, massive investment to the environmental education and notable support of sustainable businesses can lead to our behavioural changes that would impact climate. That and an outright ban of single use plastic.
