    I was surprised to find out the the S1000V is already out at Guitar Center last weekend! I had two folks here in Cleveland Ohio telling me they’d just brought them home and they were having a blast. I was briefly tempted to run out and get it or at least go see it, but I’ve got a pre-order that should be here shortly. I think Mike and Rich did a fantastic job at getting attention to this release and “selling” it. And, like you, I think Casio seems to have really recaptured the classic Casiotone spirit by putting something so unexpected inside an affordable and accessible keyboard. Great video and commentary, Chas 👍

      Have you heard anything about the key action, is it good for the price?

      @@Rokku16 I’ve heard it’s the same as the CT-S1 and CT-S400, a new action and texture for Casio entry level keyboards. I have those and they’re excellent for the price, better than any other sub-$500 keyboard I’ve ever had

      Thank you Robert,! And yes, Casio have really captured the classic Casio/ Casiotone spirit with this model. I was hoping to find that when I got a CT-S300 a couple of years ago, but as competent a keyboard as it is, it didn't have anything sonically that any other modern keyboard couldn't provide (with the exception of its "Dance Music Mode" perhaps). The CT-S1000V meanwhile is oddball, bizarre, unique and fun - everything that I remember Casios being years ago.
      it's also strange that many places were advertising them as "available for pre-order", yet it seems that some, most notably Guitar Center, had some in stock. Also notably, I've heard some say that each store only had two in stock - one for demo, and one for purchase. This was also the case for my own local Guitar Center because as it was my birthday last week, my other half surprised me by getting me one! Yes, I'm now the proud owner of a CT-S1000V!

    The Casio CT-S1000V is in stores. I bought mine from the Guitar Center store a week ago. They had 2 in stock.
    On a funny note - Casio took a time machine and went back to 1969 to hear the German band Kraftwerk and the engineer driving the time machine said "let's go to the year 2077 and create a keyboard that can sing". They designed, created the CT-1000V and brought the keyboard back to the present year 2022. Great job CASIO !

    • @CasioChaosTheory
      @CasioChaosTheory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It seems that some stores have been given 2 units, one for display and one for sale, and my local Guitar Center also had two (one is now mine!) Other online stores were still advertising as "available for pre-order", such as Sweetwater. At least that was the case when I uploaded my video and when the Livestream was published, and hopefully since then Casio's production has ramped up to match demand.
      And yes, the 1000V seems to be a product from many different eras from the past and from the future! It is a great and very unique keyboard with the oddball spirit of those vintage Casios and Casiotones that many of us grew up with. Long may they continue to make new products like this!

    Many thanks CCT. You saved me a job there. Andertons in the UK said they had only 1 @ £429 left in stock this Thurs morning 27/01/22. My order is in. It reminds me of the Talk Any! software that was available when XP was Microsoft's latest OS. It also saves me using the Google Translate woman and pitch bending the samples. I am hoping I will be using the S1000V for more than just a voice synthesizer, I already have the standard AiX piano sounds on my CT-S1 (kinda wish I'd known about this keyboard coming as I wouldn't have bought the red S1 but that said it is a thing of beauty). I'm also hoping there are a variety of new synth sounds different to the CT-X3000 in my collection...I've edited my post as watching you again compare the 1000 to facilities on your old Casiotones, I am rwondering if you can loop samples like the old SK-1 only more professionally? Apologies, I forgot to say what a great job you did of summarising the livestream and including some interesting thoughts of your own.

      Thank you so much for the compliments! It appears that some stores are now carrying the CT-S1000V, and some are still only offering "available for pre-order". My local Guitar Center had two in stock, and one of them is now mine! I'm sure they'll be more commonly available once production gets up to speed.
      Regarding tones, apparently the 1000V has all the Tones that were in the S1, and a whole bunch of new Tones not found in any other models. There's also a good selection of "synth" tones, that to be honest are much more what I use compared with the traditional instrument Tones onboard, though with all the excellent DSPs and a nice sounding filter, you can really morph any of the Tones into totally new sonic territories.
      Reading the manual, yes, you can loop the samples in the 1000V, though its sampling features are very basic. Some of the more powerful SK models from decades ago have more sampling tools and features, i.e. such as the ability to reverse the sample and also the ability to cycle through separate samples. The 1000V's sampler would work best for drum/ percussion sounds as you can have up to 10 short samples that can be assigned to specific keys, then build a drum kit with them (mind you, it already has a bunch of great drum sounds onboard). You can only have one longer sample of up to 10 seconds, and that single sample will have to be pitched across the entire keyboard meaning it won't realistically reproduce samples above and below more than a few steps of the original. There's also no crossfading or loop set point capability. But to be fair, the 1000V is not being advertised as a dedicated sampler, so I'd take the sampling feature as an extra but limited bonus.
      What I can say though is that it is an incredibly good fun, unique and inspiring keyboard. Casio have knocked it out of the park with this one!

    I only saw the first 30 minutes of the stream live, so I'm now up to speed! It must have taken you ages to edit it - great job. Your comments and interjections are useful too, and I share some of your final concerns at the end of your video. You're right - the Casio philosophy has always been to take a different route. But then again, that's one way of standing out from the crowd! All the best from the UK.

      Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad that you found the video useful! And yes, I do hope that Casio will continue more in this 1000V direction and produce more off the wall and unusual keyboards again. We can but hope!

    The only thing missing in the CT-S1000V is a microphone input. But no worries for me. I also own the Casio WK-7600 for that. The interesting feature.of the WK-7600 is that you can add DSP to your voice !

    • @CasioChaosTheory
      @CasioChaosTheory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agree. I think that as wonderful as Voice Synthesis is, Casio should have included a microphone input for real time use of the DSPs, filter and also to use the "Vocoder" type sounds in voice synthesis. A bit of a missed opportunity there.

      The WK-7600 is ancient. I think Casio will release AIX workstation keyboards soon with the super easy to use interface.

    Any knowledge on a good cord for connecting an iOS device? I have tried the app and it connects, finds the keyboard then doesn’t transfer. I have tried two iPhones, two iPads, the usb camera adapter, and the usb powered camera adapter (both Apple brand) but it just doesn’t want to work. I tried three different usb to micro usb cables to no avail. I know how to use the app but it just won’t transfer. Just wondering if you had a preferred cable. Thanks and fabulous video!!

    • @CasioChaosTheory
      @CasioChaosTheory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the compliment! :-)
      With regards to your issue of not being able to transfer from the app to the S1000V, the first thing to ensure is that you are using a USB data only cable and not one that is also used for charging. Apparently cables that also enable charging can sometime cause issues, though not always.
      However, if you able to connect the phone app with the keyboard, it might be one simple step that many others (including myself initially) have missed and been tripped up with. I've only used the Android version of the app, but the Android and IOS apps should otherwise operate identically.
      When you have a set of lyrics on the phone ready for transfer (and the phone connected to the S1000V), you hit the three vertical dots to the right of the lyrics you want to transfer, and select "Transfer". This will take you to a screen where you can select/ change some options - Destination, Vocalist, Attack Balancer. If you are happy with these, hit the "Transfer" button at the bottom of the screen. This will then open up an information screen (unless you already saw it previously and checked the "Do Not Show Again" box at the bottom), and this info screen is reminding you to select the CT-S1000V as the drive/ location to save to. Click the "OK" on this screen if you get it, if not, then you will already be at the "SAVE" screen.
      At the SAVE screen is where people get tripped up. The default save (transfer to) location for your phone and the app is the phone's DOWNLOADS folder. If you hit SAVE now, the app will try and transfer the lyrics to the phone downloads folder, NOT the S1000V. The S1000V meanwhile is waiting for the lyrics to be transferred, and when it doesn't complete you will get an error. In the SAVE screen you need to change the location from "DOWNLOADS" to "CT-S1000V". In the Android app you tap the three horizontal bars at the upper left, and that allows you to then select from the available locations to save to - my phone shows Downloads, Galaxy S10 and CT-S1000V.. Select "CT-S1000V", and now the save screen should show "CT-S1000V" at the top, with a blue "SAVE" button at the bottom next to the name of the file that you wish to transfer. Tap the blue "SAVE" button, and if all is going to plan your S1000V's screen should now display "[APP] Processing...", then after approx .5 - 10 seconds a screen should pop up on your phone stating "Transfer Complete". You should now find the S1000V ready to play with the lyrics you just transferred to it.
      I'm just finishing putting a whole series of videos covering all aspects and features of the S1000V, and one demonstrates this exact process. I hope to start uploading them to my channel in the coming weeks.
      I also gave details of this process in a thread on the CasioMusicForums.com site, it's on page 2 of the "Problems Connecting to CT-S1000V" thread. I'll post a direct link below to see if TH-cam will allow direct links, if not, feel free to go over and look at CasioMusicForums (free to join) and join in over there.
      Hope this helps!
