Daniel Fisher and Jacob Dupre show how much fun it is to play Casio‘s Casiotone CT-S1000V and CT-S500 arranger keyboards. They both pack a powerful sonic punch with 800 lifelike sounds in a sleek, highly portable package. Sixty-one full-size, touch-responsive keys make for an absolutely joyous playing experience no matter your preferred style. If you‘re looking to practice or compose with a backing track, then Casio has you covered with 243 full-accompaniment rhythms built right in that include acoustic drums, global instruments, bass lines, drum machines, horn ensembles, and more. Once you have your ideas laid down, both keyboards offer incredibly deep editing tools - three assignable knobs can be programmed to adjust filter, effects, and modulation. There‘s even a built-in audio sampler that gives you the ability to create custom tones and drum sounds - not to mention the amazing Vocal Synthesis program that‘s accessible via Casio‘s Lyric Creator app when playing the CT-S1000V.

If you are looking for a good digital sound of the 80's & 90's, then these are your choice. Yes, of course it can do a lot more. A lot more. Kinda vintage but still has that modern vibe. I ordered my unit today, with the "vocoder". If you are a fan of the 80's Casio synthesizers, then you will need to have this, with or without the "vocoder". These are not toys anymore, i can tell you that. The 80's were superb and Casio was strong back then with the CZ and VZ series. Then the 90's came and that was a sad time for Casio. In year 2022 i can only say that Casio has returned to their glory days. They are doing strong. Nice.

I own the CT-S500, it's so good. So easy to use, it feels good. It sounds good. It's deep, but you can ignore the deep if you want and just play. Owned some roland Junos and casio PX5s, and this honestly is perfect. SImple, but it you can be create with it and make the sounds you want too. Love the sampling. Use it with the OP-1 and micro freak in the audio line it and out the very nice speakers. Totally happy!
I do wish it had a midi 5 pin out, that would be super nice.

What do you mean by "sampling" ? Can this keyboard also be a sampler, or do you just mean the samples for piano, strings, brass, etc. ?

Hi Julian. A Casio keyboard also changed my life. I was in the US Army Signal Corps in 1981 when an officer heard me playing my brand new Casiotone MT-30. Two weeks later I was the Keyboardist for the US Army Band, and 18 months later, Keyboardist for The US Army Rock Band. The rest of my life started with the purchase of that MT-30. -_Daniel_

The CT-S500 is the one I want, I think the vocoder features on the 1000v are a bit of a gimmick and a distraction for someone like me who wants this to learn to play on. Was about to bite the bullet on the CT-S400 and then this is announced with customizable DSP per tone and proper knobs to adjust it with. Happy days. Also, I believe that this series has the unique tones from the CT-S1 as well so that gets rid of any buyers remorse I might have had about choosing the CT-S400 over the CT-S1.

Every time I see Dan jazz out a rhythm, I think this thing needs some kind of looper, or worse, a sequencer that analyzes your loop and turns it into an accompaniment style with auto-generated fills and such. Maybe in 2030. Til then you have to hire Dan (or use what Casio programmed. You can't program your own patterns with this one, right?)
