I have a few the same style as that pump. I rotated the heads on the by one set of screws so where the outlet meets the body is at the top, rather than just pointing strait up. Found it helps them prime slightly easier.

Hi Thanks for anothergreat video ! I use an emmersion chiller to cool my wort. I use a GF stir paddle on a drill to mix the wort while chilling to reduce the time taken to cool the wort and it works well but hands could be freed to do other things using a pump. Would it be reasonable to use a pump such as you are showing here to pump the wort from the tap and back into the kettle without causing the pump to get blocked with hop debris ? I know you say you can in the video but you may be assuming a hop filter is in play, I use pelleted hops .

Hey! Yes you can certainly use a pump in this way and personally we would suggest this would be a better approach tan some of the stir paddles as their is a risk of hot side oxidisation with these if you are too vigorous with the drill. If you are whirl-pooling the hops before chilling starts then you will have gathered the hops into the middle of the kettle and as such could avoid the need for a filter, a nice gentle speed with the pump should suffice and a well angled return into the kettle with the outlet below the surface of the wort and you'll nail it!

Great idea, will be coming up. As with everything brewing, never let it dry dirty;)

    Hi Rob
Does the pump have to be horizontal or can I attach and use vertically?
