      @@DrakesDetailing drake I had a question, what vacuum did you use for the water? Also is it better to pressure wash the leaves or can you use a vacuum and do it? I visited florida for the first time in my life and after a fishing trip I helped a friend clean a boat. And I though about maybe trying to start my own detailing boat business. So watching your videos will really help me with that. Thanks a lot. I’ll definitely be asking for more advice in the future 😂. Keep up the good work. It really helps me and your viewers as well.

    7 minutes, I like the fact that you appreciated the customer and justified that $500 was a good price because she was nice. I've been doing Professional Automotive Detailing for about a year and am moving from AZ to a place where there is tons of boats. I figured why not try to work on some boats I bet I could make some money. Also I was thinking you should vacuum the interior first that way all those leaves that are soiled don't fly around to areas that you may have already cleaned. Great content! Looking forward tot seeing more of your videos.

    I've been using cleaner wax on my boat while cleaning it at the sandbar when I'm bored!! What would you recommend for that kind of cleaning. Only heavy clean twice a year. Otherwise boat sits on the dock all summer?? Also, what psi is your pressure washer. That wont damage the wiring on the engine bay or the wiring under the dash, or the seat stitching?? Thanks man

    For rust marks and brown stain from the water line down I used to cross the US border at Sumas Washington to pick up a product called Barkeepers Friend. It’s a powder that comes in a can like Ajax’s or comet cleanser. Make a paste on your smaller brush lather it up let it soak for a few minutes use your brush or rag to wipe it off. It’s an amazing product. $5.00 up in Canada now.

What could I do wrong? Or better yet how can I do it wrong? If I wet it down and then spray it/scrub it and don’t let it dry am I good to go?

    Great attention to detail. Only thing I’d like to see as a boat owner is vacuuming the leaves out. Don’t want to get those in the bilge area and block bilge pumps if it’s not self bailing.

    Just came across your videos as I’m looking into detailing my boat. Boat is new, do you recommend the gray pad since there isn’t any oxidation? How about using that machine and a gray pad on a car?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend the lake country force white pad... that will be softer for lighter polishing.

    Hey Drake, great videos. I have my 1st boat detail coming up and I have quick question. His boat is lightly oxidize and I was looking for a 1step process for him. I typically one step on cars with a DA and a yellow rupes pads. Do you know if the yellow pad will have a similar cut as the Lake Grey. I have a Rupes LR15. I love Jescar powerlock+ so that with a Grey pad looks to be awesome. Keep up the great work. Any other tips please send them my way

    one more question haha, i have the makita buffer and i was wondering if i could just put a foam pad on it and use it just like the flex? or do you just use the flex because its smaller

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can finish with the rotary makita, but it takes a lot more skill and usually more steps... if you used the rotary you would most likely have todo the orange lake country forced pad with menzerna 400 then the white force pad and menzerna 2500.
      Anytime you use a rotary you are more likely to leave holograms

    What type and size pad your using on the 80 and why? Also what do you think about the purple wool pad from lake country

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m using the 3inch finishing microfiber pad from lake country on the pxe80. It’s thin and doesn’t soak in a lot of wax.
      I have only tried the purple wool a few times and it was ok, works better for cars in my option.
      I don’t really need it, because I do all of my cutting with a wool pad on a rotary. I only use da’s or my flex for finishing and waxing.

    I use a 12 gallon shop vac for super dirty decks especially if they got tons of leaves. I also observed that you got into the boat with dirty shoes. That kind of messes up your work. I use shoe covers after every wash so I do not cross contaminate.

    Hey man love your videos. I work as a detailer for a small company and I notice you don't use a buffing compound at all. When I detail boats, my boss wants me to buff the boat before hitting it with wax. We use wool buff pads instead of the foam ones you use. Is this a necessary step, or would the foam pad make the job that much easier? Because with all the steps my boss makes me take, I do in 5 8-hour days what you did in this 5 hours.

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      that's correct, I use compound all the time, just not in this video ha. this customer was only paying for wax so that's what we did. Check out my other videos for compound tips. 5 to 8 hours is about right, some of our jobs take weeks ha

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m a huge fan of purple power and super clean. I don’t really dilute them, because when I need them I generally need all the cleaning power I can get. You just need to be carful it does not sit in the surface too long

    is it okay to wet sand (1000 grit) and compound over the boat decals and pinstriping on the hull? Not sure if you are supposed to avoid them or if it's okay to go over them while you are doing the gelcoat.

      Cystomer wants a buff and wax. The Jescar should cover that right. The outside isn’t too bad just old and dull looking. It’s the interior that needs work
