In iowa you have to get a salvage tag in order to keep them legally. I was in a county in which I wasn’t familiar with the DNR and didn’t want to go through the hassle of trying to find the contact information and meeting up with them to get a salvage tag. Easier most times to just leave them

In Iowa you can keep the dead head if you call the local DNR and they have to issue you a salvage tag. You can’t just take them with you without getting that tag so sometimes it’s just easier to leave them there
