What an amazing symphony! Hearing his symphonies chronologically, this is the first one where you can feel Tchaikovsky's style in complete maturity. Such a complete composer, with thematical creativity and imagination to vary, impeccable structure and a very rich pallette of orchestral colors. The first movement is amazing and yet almost feels underwhelming by the amount of variety and identity that the other movements have. Tchaikovsky is probably the best composer to balance the spirit of romantism with the russian nationalist music. His music almost breaks the boundaries between phantasy and reality
BRAVO MUTI! Finally, a conductor WHO GET's IT RIGHT.....at 26:00 EMPHASIZING the back part....BRILLIANT! Been searching all day for this one.....Cheers from Acapulco!
This first movement starts off so well. I find what follows the intro to be a bit square and stiff...not that fertile for development...my favorite parts of this are the two slow movements which are the gems of this work.
It is the happiest Symphony I've heard, for the moment. The tonalities of theese are 1 sol mlnor,, 2 do minor,, 3 Mayor, 4 fa menor, 5 mi menor, 6 si menor. La única sinfonía en una tonalidad mayor. En todo rebosa optimismo aunque tenga algún movimiento en tono menor. ❤
This is much better than the 4th Symphony. Why is it never performed? By the way, Maestro Muti makes some strange rhythmic distortions, though overall it is a gorgeous performance.

Pizzicato in Tchaikovsky's symphonies is iconic.
Gorgeous, such an underrated symphony… but I may understand why.
i swear youve commented on every singe symphony on youtube

Thanks for posting this. It's my favorite Tchaikovsky symphony and gets no respect. IMHO 👍
I totally agree 100%! Such a good one!

Merci pour ce beau cadeau ! J'ai la chance de posséder la version de Muti en CD, la meilleure de tous les temps.
Fifth and Second Movement are great!

I'm shocked that all melody was under off beat from 3:52. It makes as if a beat is added at 4:39.
Erinnert an Mozart KV 543, letzter Satz.

Without a doubt no.3 might be his best symphony out of his eight including Manfred and no.7!
The fourth movement reminds me of Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's "A Midsummer Night's Dream".😉
Isnt this the Philharmonia orchestra? I dont think Muti recorded the 3rd symphony with Philadelphia but im not sure
I can tell by the winds that this isn't the Philadelphia Orchestra, this orchestra sounds very European
Grate recording
何とアクロバティックなスケルツォ😳
Great music, but the rehearsal letters are very out of order and in all sorts of wrong places

31:27 what a pathetic trombone solo. Soppy and lifeless.
Write a better one
@@butter5014 its the player and overall tempo of the music not the solo.
no respect because He glue fragments of music together.. which hard to understand without reading the score and confuse the listeners
i guess he's deeply sorry for not letting you understand his work as you want it to 😭
I am wonderfully, happily confused.
