Directions
To start off make sure that your turkey has been thawed. If it is still frozen make sure you start defrosting it in advance. Turkeys generally thaw 3-5 lbs per day depending on your refrigerator. Once thawed remove the insides and cut off any excess skin around the neck and tail area. Pat turkey dry to remove all excess liquid. Season outside and under the skin with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, paprika, lemon pepper seasoning, and Italian seasoning. Once seasoned spray with cooking spray for seasoning to set and place back in the refrigerator uncovered overnight. The next day when ready to cook heat up your oil to 375 this took around 45 mins. Once your oil is up to temp, place your turkey in the basket and slowly lower the turkey into the oil (make sure to use gloves). Cook your turkey 3-4 minutes per pound. My 20 lb turkey was cooked for 75 mins for the dark meat to reach 175. Let the turkey rest for 30 mins before slicing

Hey bro i just pruchased this fryer. Am i able to fry more than one Turkey with this fryer
@@joshuadaniels3259 one after another yes. Two at the same time. No
@@CookingWithThatown2 Thanks Doc
At what temp did u set temperature for a 19.25 lb turkey
All directions are in the description box below the video
I had this frier now going on 4 years and it never disappoints, I do a 2 day wet brine in salt, brown sugar, cinamon sticks, thime, star anise, orange slices.
Yep yep 👍
That sounds like something I would like to try in the new fryer. Can you provide the recommended amounts of seasonings and liquid?
@@laverdadesmejor I don't have exact measurements but I think I use maybe 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar 2 cups of salt a few sticks of cinnamon, a bunch of fresh thyme, a couple of star anise, crushed garlic cloves, 2 whole oranges sliced and water in a pot bring to a boil let cool transfer to brine pot with ice cubes and water to cover for 2 days in cool spot ( I got enough space in my fridge) until fry day. Pat down turkey dry before frying
@@laverdadesmejor all directions are in the video and in the description box
My bad you were talking to b money
I have the same fryer and while my turkey last year was delicious, it didn’t have that deep color I wanted. I saw your thumbnail and watched. Glad I did. Now I have the last piece of my puzzle to get the color I want. Thank you.
That fryer is great
What oil you using?
I used peanut oil. All steps are in the video
Thank you so much for making this video. You are the only one I've seen with a 20-pound turkey using this frying. I am frying a 20-pound turkey today and I saw a video with a woman saying that she wouldn't put a 20-pound turkey in this fryer. Thank you for putting my mind at easy.
No problem. Yes it will def work as long as it fits in the basket
I also deep fried a whole ham
I had to come back to this Turkey again this year.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy again 👍🏾🤞
Mouth watering! It looks AWESOME!
thank you.
Thanks so much. I will trying this recipe this year.
Look at the professionalism…No ordinary person can get a crips like that 😮
Trust me you can do it too bro 😎
That looks so good!!!! 😋 Happy Thanksgiving! 😀
Thank you. You also
Dude you have slowly and steadily developed a following! I remember when you were just starting to post on reddit. You sold me on getting this fryer.
Tha k you. How do you like the fryer. I think i may need a new one... I'm having issues with the power cable and the fryer not getting up to temp
@@CookingWithThatown2 I have only used it twice. It's been great so far but I swear modern appliances just aren't built to last.
Hhahahhahaha all we need is some good ol cast iron
@@CookingWithThatown2when that starts happening best to get rid of it for safety reasons don’t risk burning your house down. Always think safety
@@CookingWithThatown2 oh by the way it may be that extension cord you got hook up to it. The manual states that the cord must be plug directly in the plug not with an extension cord
I'm glad you opened left the legs free. More seasoning that way, love this fryer.
Yes, this fryer works great. Quick and easy
Yooou Bro, That looks very tasty! Cool video, Thanks!
Thank you
Looks Delicious...I did the same but also injected it...was SO MOIST
👍🏽👏🏽
I fry for 3 min per pound and let it rest under loose aluminum foil as it will continue to cook. Should reach 165 after 15-20 min rest and not be overcooked. I wouldn’t put it in the oven to rest because the build up of moisture in the oven will cause the skin to be less crispy.
Got me one. Never fails me. But although you can fry it in your home I am always skeptical for safety reason I fry it outside. Thanks for the video.
Be careful using that extension cord it’s a no no . LOL
My mouth is watering watching this video 😋. I'm definitely trying this in a couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing your video.
Thank you. I hope you enjoy
I was concerned about how much oil to put into the fryer. Your video helped me! Thanks!
Your welcome
Great investment, I own both this, & an oilless Big Easy fryer from Charbroiler. Both are great, however the electric is the way to go if you're pressed for time. Get done in 1/3 of the time roasting.
My electric one stopped working but I do have an unopened oiled fryer in the garage that I haven’t used yet
@@CookingWithThatown2 Aww man!! That sucks that ur electric one stopped working, but @ least u have some sort of backup.
@@prestonmcleod1726 it comes on but it will only keep the temp for about 2 mins then we revert back to a low heat. I’ll unplug it and plug it back it and it will boil again for a few mins then cut off. I bought a new power cable and still same thing. Guess I just need to try to find another one… I really like it too
@@CookingWithThatown2 I personally don't like the magnetic cable feature, I understand it's a child safety mechanism, but it gets in my nerves.
Or look your element assembly there should be a red pilot button somewhere on it. Try pushing that to reignite it.
I keep hearing people say let it rest....I give it about 5 to 7 minutes. I carve it while it is still crispy.
How do you get crispy skin using this fryer
Beautiful bird!
Thank you
I deep fried my turkey this year with the butterball fryer and I’ll say it’s legit Af turkey was super juicy best I ever had
Glad it turned out great for you!!!!
Mega helpful. Thank you.
No problem.hope you enjoy
Thank you
Great job
Thank you
It takes me two day in bottom of fridge you cold season it on therd day and cook it on forth day.
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Alright now!🤜🤛👍
👍🏽
I'm trying to decide PROPANE or ELECTRIC???? So many good points for both.
The Butterball XL seems to be a popular electric unit.
Get both!
All depends on how you want to use it. Some people enjoy the whole process of hanging out outside while the propane turkey is cooking
@@CookingWithThatown2 I think I am of like mindset. If I'm going to be "frying", make it a REAL experience. I just ordered a complete ensemble of 32 & 10qt. S/S pot, accessories, baskets, etc., supposedly made by Enterprises. Propane of course.
@@laverdadesmejor yeah you bout to be sitting outside with the fellas having a few drinks chilling relaxing while everyone else keeps asking is the food ready yet
I've had the oil fryer at least four years, NEVER disappointed.
This year I bought three BIG EASY air Fryer.
Excellent results and no oil.
The oil fryer has its pluses, but with the price on the oil (2 3/4 gallons, the price of the turkey... you're looking at a DELICIOUS, MOIST, TENDER $100.00 TURKEY🤑
That being said, I'm frying in oil today.
Bon appétit
I met you at the farmers market
Thank you it was nice meeting you guys. Thanks for trying out my seasonings
I have family members who have nut allergies. Is there another oil that the turkey can be fried in besides peanut oil?
You can fry in whatever oil you like. People use peanut oil because it has a high smoke point and you won't burn the oil as easily, but yes you can use vegetable or canola oil if you like
@@CookingWithThatown2 thanks for the reply. I've never deep fried a turkey in my life but want to try it out. The fried turkeys I have eaten were so juicy. I'm going to purchase a Masterbuilt XL. What about injecting the meet before frying. Any ideas or what to inject with?
And peanut oil can be reused for like 5 to 7 turkeys, other oils likely one or two. But definitely doable! Gl!
@@scottb_02 I fried a while turkey a turkey breast and a ham in the same oil
They stuff you're allergic to in peanut oil burns off when you heat the oil to a certain temp.
That's how you season a Turkey!!!
Fully covered
Inject the breast and all the meat with melted butter also before you cook it. These fryers are the best except they don't maintain the heat and recover very good, I own 2 of them. Seem to have a heating element problem that is too weak and needs upgrading to higher wattage to help maintain the 375° heat for the entire cook.
I need a new one lol
how is the clean up after?? Is it a hassle trying to do it in the kitchen sink
No it had a drain spout ounce the oil cools you can drain the oil back into its container
Do you inject or would you recommend injecting after deep frying?
I dont know about injecting after its cooked. I guess it depends on what your injecting. If you plan on injecting after taste what your using to make sure you like the flavor because that is not going to get a chance to be cooked with the bird.
I INJECT the day before.
@@tiag298 i injected the one that i put on the grill
i would inject before frying i have many times and its awsome i use creole butter injecting
I like using the jalapeño butter also
What kind of oil are you using? Keto concerns?
Peanut oil
What was the trick to get all that beautiful color on that bird? We have the same fryer and tried it for the first time a year or two ago, and while the turkey was great it was very pale looking. Was it just the dry rub?
If you have the same fryer then I would say maybe your seasonings more paprika and chili powder and make sure your temp is right and leave it alone while it’s cooking don’t keep opening the lid hhahahhahaha
@@CookingWithThatown2 People kept fucking with it and arguing too much about it last time we fried. I'm gonna keep it locked down this year lol. Preciate the response man.
You got some back seat drivers hhahahhahaha
@@CookingWithThatown2 Turkey came out awesome! Crispy skin and super moist on the inside. This video helped a lot from the last time we tried a few years ago! Thanks!
How many times can you use the oil before you have to change it?
I got about 3 uses out of it all depends on if you strain the oil or not.. you’ll know depending on how dirty the grease is. The last cook I super over seasoned the meat and a lot of the seasoning came off
@@CookingWithThatown2 Ok Thank you.
I appreciate the greatness in your video, but it’s a piece of hair on the turkey at the beginning.
What temp did you heat the fryer up to?
375
We’re u get that Air fryer from omg need one asap it so big
This is a Butterball or Masterbuilt Indoor Turkey Fryer they sell them at Walmart and amazon
You didn’t say what temperature to cook it on
Recipe is in the description but it was cooked at 375
Did fill grease to max line or went over
All directions are in the video
But yes filled to the max line
What temperature was this cooked in?
375
Any smoke throughout the house?
Nope just steam
Can i brine and inject my turkey both ?
Yes you can I just wanted to do a dry brine to keep it as dry as possible because it was my first time using this fryer
I think the brine will cause more moisture and then cause more grease to pop out which can be dangerous. I say a dry rub and injection would do the trick. I have this indoor cooker and it is fabulous.
@@Andrea-bw5lw yeah i agree. but you can still inject just make sure when you put the turkey in the grease you go very slow.
I offer to fry the Turkey. But What kills me people don’t want it at there house. Or in there house because they think it will catch the house on fire. The temp is controlled and there is no gas. It’s safer than cooking French fries with vegetable oil
On the stove. I like fried Turkey much more than the oven. It’s not dry. It’s always flavorful. I use powerful herbs in an injection so it doesn’t have to sit. Mustard and garlic is always good especially with a sweet honey or brown sugar with Worcestershire. But some still like a plain ole oven turkey that takes hours. And nowhere near as tender.
Yeah this is an electric indoor fryer so no fumes or anything. Safe as long as you don’t overfill it
@@CookingWithThatown2 And still yet no flame to catch on fire...But hot oil is hot, really hot.
@@rokinrandy true
WAIT ....how long to heat the oil ???????
Depends on your fryer to reach 375
I was looking at the ingrediants and what in the world is just Powder
hahahhaha thank you for catching that. I updated it that was chili powder
@@CookingWithThatown2 did you inject it with anything before the rub?
What oil
@@cederick_tv9000 has to be peanut oil
@@stevo88071 watched another video someone said they used vegetable oil for chicken
Did you inject the bird?
No
Did you take thermometer out?
If your referring to the pop up thermometer that comes in the turkey. Yes, i took that out before frying
@@CookingWithThatown2 I can’t find one in mine should I assume there isn’t one? Bc I’m about to do one for work right now lol
@@herondelacerda look for a small white and red plug in the breast but yeah you may not have one hhahahhahaha
@@CookingWithThatown2 yeah I didn’t see one I think I should be good haha
@@CookingWithThatown2 I know it’s pretty visible
Paid $20 a gallon for peanut oil😒
I believe it was $35 at the time this video was made that may be the price now. But hey if you want a deep fried turkey you know what you have to do. Plus you can fry mutliple turkeys so go ahead and hook up the whole neighborhood.
OMG, first thing I see at the beginning of this video.....is a circular piece of hair on the turkey!!! 👀 🥴 OKAY! HE REMOVED IT! Sigh!!!
You got a good eye I just noticed that it must’ve been on the package of napkins because it wasn’t on the turkey before I started patting it dry
Before giving advice about health... what about leading by example becoming healthy yourself! The medium is the message Bruh!
Who is this referring too?
The music masks voices. Annoying!!
Can you hear me?
I have the same fryer, it's very easy to use. I inject it overnight as well as season it inside and outside. Use the season of your choice. Take it out of the refrigerator and let it get to room temperature, while the oil is heating. It comes out moist and golden brown every time. I use a Creole Butter injectable Marinade and add just a little more creole seasoning to enhance the flavor. Use your judgment as to how spicy you want it.
