There is a small one in Pretoria very close to the University, but the best one is in Rivonia. They are amazing! I hope your family get to check them out and you get to check them out on your next visit 😉
I’m an Aussie that spent a year in Canada and I took a huge jar of Vegemite, I met some fellow Australians who had been there for a few years and they were all jealous of my Vegemite haha. My mum also ended up sending me my favourite pepper steak seasoning since I couldn’t find an alternative that I liked. She also sent me large photos of the view from my bedroom and some of our back yard because I was living in an apartment in the middle of a city for the first time and was missing the trees. I know now that if I move to another country again these are the things I will take with me every time.

A big, green, can of Bag balm. I've healed and grown back so much skin with Bag balm.(sorry if that sounded weird TMI) 5 Generations of my family will swear by it! I grew up with it and, seriously, I don't know how to live without it! I've actually scooped and washed out a smaller travel size case of a different brand lip balm that had a tighter fitting lid that I liked and filled it with Bag balm so I can always have some with me.😄

Vegemite is also used in Australia as a drop-bear repellent. It works - I have never been attacked by a drop-bear while walking in the Australian Bush.
What I wish I could bring back from SA is biltong. You can't get anything like it here in Korea. South African biltong is the best beef jerky in the world!

I have actually bought gochujang from the chain supermarket here in Midwest America. It is fantastic to add to dishes, such a unique flavor! So interesting to hear everyone's staples that they have to take with them!

We have so many options, and you can almost always find what you're looking for at any time of the year. There are definitely more limited options in a lot of other countries I've been to.

Mrs Ball’s chutney actually you can find in All Publix for as long as I can remember so I think 2009 lol. The US actually has a lot of South African products available there the chocolates and sauces and things even Biltong. As well as Alcohol... So I don’t take a lot with me when I do go back, BUT I do take Speckled Eggs, Nik Naks its actually like cheetos chip and I also know you call nik naks like bits and pieces but it chips... and Well I agree with you when It comes to the Ibuprofen, I bring the same tub back from the US to South Africa when I come back home. I understand Chantelle. I left most of my clothes in Sth Korea to fit in food in. Tea and tea set included. Some things I wanted to I couldn't as I wouldn't get through Australian customs.
Well I'm Algerian and when I was studying in italy everytime i go home i take a huge bag of almost everything ... The things that i always got back with me are : Arab spices and kouskous ... You'll almost never find them abroad & as a typical Algerian or north African in general we used to eat kouskous every Friday of the year ... & It's really really expensive in italy compared to Algeria ( in Algeria it's almost 1€ for a kilogramme while here it's 25€ for a 250 grammes plate 🌚)
Things I want to phone home for are: Rooibos tea, some toiletries, deep heat, germolene, sinutab (the strong one), and a few others. I'd also want rum and raisin Cadbury chocolate, ultramel custard, and Bar One chocolate. As for vegemite, marmite is a better (haha don't hate me) ;P Mrs. Balls is life

When travelling I definitely try to keep my stock of biltong which is a must

Hi Guys Love all your Uploads on all forms, Watch as much as I can... So my Comment is mostly to John, I am a South African who has worked and Lived in the US on and off since 2009. Mrs Ball’s chutney actually you can find in All Publix for as long as I can remember so I think 2009 lol. The US actually has a lot of South African products available there the chocolates and sauces and things even Biltong. As well as Alcohol... So I don’t take a lot with me when I do go back, BUT I do take Speckled Eggs, Nik Naks its actually like cheetos chip and I also know you call nik naks like bits and pieces but it chips... and Well I agree with you when It comes to the Ibuprofen, I bring the same tub back from the US to South Africa when I come back home. Thanks great show.
I would choose biltong and Ouma Biskuit above Mrs. Ball's Chutney any day. Also couldn't live without Simba chips and Nik Naks

I understand Chantelle. I left most of my clothes in Sth Korea to fit in food in. Tea and tea set included. Some things I wanted to I couldn't as I wouldn't get through Australian customs.
Well I'm Algerian and when I was studying in italy everytime i go home i take a huge bag of almost everything ... The things that i always got back with me are : Arab spices and kouskous ... You'll almost never find them abroad & as a typical Algerian or north African in general we used to eat kouskous every Friday of the year ... & It's really really expensive in italy compared to Algeria ( in Algeria it's almost 1€ for a kilogramme while here it's 25€ for a 250 grammes plate 🌚)

Things I want to phone home for are: Rooibos tea, some toiletries, deep heat, germolene, sinutab (the strong one), and a few others. I'd also want rum and raisin Cadbury chocolate, ultramel custard, and Bar One chocolate.
As for vegemite, marmite is a better (haha don't hate me) ;P

Nice to see you guys laughing a lot in this vid 😊 I can survive without Vegemite but if I left Australia I'd miss Bickford's lemon cordial, Schweppes lemonade, meat pies, sausage rolls and the sourdough bread from my local bakery (none of which are very transportable 😂)
As an American who grew up in Oz the one thing I miss and can sometimes find in the States is Schweppes Lemon Bitters.
I would take moccona coffee, and kit kats. And kettle chips
They sell 고추장 (gochujang) in Cape Town (can’t speak for the whole of South Africa tho lol)

I moved to Tygerberg (close to Stellenbosch medical campus) there's a spar with Korean food and japanese as well
