I saw the movie, and I loved it. I am also a male. The original has always been one of my favorite movies. I also saw the staged musical at the beginning of 2023. The cast is excellent. I enjoyed the fantasy aspects to some of the performance numbers. I hope many of these actors receive Oscar nominees for their performances. I am so glad they restored a scene between Shug and her father which resolves her character arc. That was my one criticism of the staged production that I felt Shug's story was left unresolved. Happy New Year!
First off…. Happy New Year! AND YES! I will say I prefer the original movie’s version of Shug coming back to the church I thought it was so emotionally beautiful that her spirit was led back to her father. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie and I can’t wait to see more!
I loved it.I liked that some of it was toned down in terms of Celies traumas but it was still really good and still as emotional as the first. I won't lie the Sophia scene made me not want to be your friend for the day 🤣. I blamed your ancestors lol
NO!!!!! 🤣 I remember seeing Dream Girls and the part when the groups song was stolen…. “Got me a Cadillac”. I remember when the scene happened I cringed and shrunk in my seat because of the shame 🤣.
