I think main thing for Cata healer is that the skillgap between a good healer and a bad healer is far far more noticable than prior expansions. The mana buffer doesn't exist to be bad at healing and knowing the fights for CD usage is more important as the get out of jail "every pally has an AM or DSAC" is gone. Combine that with some tight dps checks on Heroic Prog means you can't just add more healers to compensate for bad players, this is a great expansion for skill healers.
As a long time resto druid since 2006, watching people struggle to adjust to the mastery juggle of resto druid is sad. We are pure raid healing. We don’t have much in the way of damage reduction cooldowns for tanks. That being said, we can no longer just blanket people with rejuv and not worry about mana. To be honest, S tier is Rdru, Disc and Shaman (during prog only as mastery drops off, considering they will mostly never go oom too if played well with Telluric Currents and bosses taking double damage during phases). All healers are A tier except for the the few S tier. Paladins are great but their AoE is still lacking, people are overhyping holy radiance and light of dawn. Light of dawn is limited on targets, but decent healing, meanwhile holy radiance will tick for 500 healing on everyone, if stacked. Even less in most cases, depends on gear. Also, tank healing is way less valuable as most guilds will run DK main tank and they will heal themselves like crazy + pala mastery is garbage... noone will stack it. Second one to go is probably the hpriest, as you will no longer need the raid cds and they lack other cds. Hpriest is also very fun to play as you can prepare for different phases of a boss and switch to what is needed, single target or AoE, and perform very well. I never understood why people think resto druid was the best healer, they're not even remotely as good as holy paladin/disc priest til tier 13. @@slushy1522 Disc priest lowers the healing required, so yes you will need another healer, if you're doing cata raids with 1 healer, I'd love to know the strats you're doing. Disagree with druid not being S tier. It brings 2 raid CD, innervate, combat ress. Best healer on fights with lots of movements, they themself almost never go oom(highest mana pull). There will always be at least 1 Resto druid in 25 raids and safest pick in 10 man(especially in progression). Easily S tier imo.
you can only combat rez once in 10man, and that's covered by blood dk i think, innervate is only 20% mana for the druid and nothing else, all healers have their own mana cd, shadowfiend/divine plea etc, resto druid will pump some of the highest healing numbers but i think some fights having utility from paladin/disc will be really nice, the question is whether the higher healing output from restor druid outweighs utility the other classes bring, and ofc it depends on whether its 10 or 25, resto shaman is prob godly on 25 man, while resto druid is prob stronger on 10 man i imagine.

As a long Private Server Player (Whitemane, Twinstar) that played every healer in Cata this is my thoughs: S Tier: Resto Druid/Disco Priest A Tier: Holy Paladin, B Tier: Resto Shaman, C Tier: Holy Priest Resto Druid: biggest healing out put of every healer, because cataclysm is the best expasion via healing out put, It's the first expansion that HOT's are legit broken, because how healing works It's not like in previous expansion that, If anyone went down from 100% to 50% hp you cast 1 heal to intantly top them to full, It's not like that anymore, you will likely bring 2 of them to 25 man, speaking of 10 man, they are not that strong via utility as a holy paladin, but they are stiill good you will likely be healing 10 man with Disc Priest. Disco Priest: Its just broken like in Wrath via shields good in 25, important into 10 man. Holy Paladin: Biggest strength is Utility via blessigs and etc. It's not like in Wrath anymore, you will bring 1 to 25, but where holy paladin shines is 10, less players less buffs so holy paladin utility just shine, everybody know that best healing duo for 10 man is Disc Priest/Holy Pala. Resto Shaman: Is the best version of shaman that is here from TBC and most fun, but as a healing out put that the class can do is not that good, biggest strength of shaman is just Spirit Link Totem + AOE Healing though Healing Raid, Chain Heal, but still you are out healed by Holy Priest, shaman you will bring just 1 into 25, good luck trying to join into 10 man as a resto shaman you will be forced to play Ele. Holy Priest: It's just worst healer, why would anyone play this spec, you will never be the best in utility or rough healing out put, you are just handcoufing yourself from success.
Hm I'm starting to think you played with awful shamans and paladins. Resto shaman have the best arsenal of spells in the right hands it does the job perfectly. Holy pala is the strongest tank healer and later in the expansion the best raid healer...

Holy paladin is F tier until T12, druids are top early pretty much, priets are both ok, disc over holy as usual, resto shaman is top in all phases, but shines the most in dragonsoul, a skilled resto shaman will always top on dragonsoul, even against holy paladins
sigh...numbers and data over what a person wants to play and enjoy... even in a game that's already been played before and its a rerun...people whine and complain about numbers
Yet again people shitting on and discounting Holy Priest. Holy Priest can 100% outheal a disc priest's absorbs when healing without a disc. The throughput is INSANE if you know how to play the class. The problem is that not many people do because you can't just faceroll 1 button as Holy. Also to note that this guy has no idea how to play holy priest, because you don't just stay in one chakra if you're worth your salt.
Disc will always have higher throughout. Back in world of logs days, disc was so far above on allstars followed by hpals then rsham h priest and then rdruid last. 😊
Lmao the disrespect for druid was gnarly. They don't have mana problems at all with constant clearcasting procs, have strong survivability, bring brez and innervate, and tranq is one of the best healing cooldowns. In terms of sheer output tranq is nearly unbeatable, then you add tree of life and stampeding roar on top of that.
"Resto druid won't be the best, they'll just top the meters!" As if that's not what most people are looking for lol. As much as raid cooldowns matter, they mostly matter to the raid lead; if they don't get easily seen on meters, no one will care.
Yea I sort of agree. If the raid doesn't need big CDs druids will absolutely destroy the meters lol. Plus I think Rdruid is the most fun healer but that's just me
I mean if a resto can pop tranq and no one dies then how was it any worse then a disc bubble and no one dying. Also been tranq and tree you can rotate 2 very power CDs over and over. Plus druid is just fun to play.
If the meter is configured for both healing and mitigation the RSham should comfortably top the meter with spirit link and healing rain. For about 15 seconds of the raid they'll be getting about 50K HPS from these 2 spells alone.
If you run with 2x disc, 2x holypala, then the last slot should go to holy priest. The ability to change sub-role depending on the fight is such a huge win. Spirit link is an awesome spell, but is mostly beneficial with major non-shielding raid healers like holy priest, druid and shaman, which are the minority of healers in the disc/pala majority comp. I think you want one of each healer type tbh, the holy priest is massively underrated. That being said, im the most biased person in this comment section to make this claim, as my wow-prime was as holy priest in cataclysm hehe

@@JustNrik Not sure what you smoking bruh, holy takes 0 skill to play at lvl 60 or 70, lol lvl 70 circle spam, at lvl 80 its still brain dead just not as brain dead as disc, and at lvl 85 disc is far more complex than holy. Idk about you but I'm a long time priest player, I quit wrath due to how boring it was but I played both disc and holy, log is Sfzrx from whitemane.
One major point in favor of the rdruid is its dmg output, especially compared to a hpal. It will be interesting to see how competitive raiding will use the rdruid DPS to push the limits and strats, most likely in 10m
No. Just… No. Please don’t bring that retail bullshit where healers need to do DPS and even worse during raid encounters. Healers are to HEAL, as stated on the name HEALERS.

I just played Disco Priest + Resto Druid on Heroics so far.
As Disco Priest I have a great tool and know what to do... As Resto Druid I felt shit and blown away.
There were times I hotted players with 4 hots and they still died.... (speaking of Heroic 5man Dungeon Content) both chars are not even pre raid BiS and it feels rough depending of dungeon + group.
I've noticed r druid feeling a bit rougher in a 5 man setting, but worry not-- they perform well in raids!
I played holy priest in first phase of original cata... I remember having huge mana problems
Go shadow and destroy everything!
Wrong usage of skills and panic spamming issue. Holypriest start shining after first raid tier. With dungeon tier it is normal to have mana problems.
'Yeah the resto druid is god tier at healing, but they arent the best healer." talk about copium.
Lmfaoooo
High output but the raid utility doesn't compare to the others. Makes sense to me
@@brandonl7759 "Boomkin brought a raid buff in wrath. that makes them the best dps." thats how stupid that argument is.
@@chiefgunman Lol Balance is a mid tier DPS that brings only one unique buff that's also shared by shadow and every shaman spec. You're just looking to get angry without putting two thoughts together.
@@chiefgunman argue at a wall though, just don't get pissy when people value high heals and high utility more than very high heals and low utility. ✌️
Thanks, i choose resto dru!
Resto druid easily is S tier in cata, they will have probs at first before gear if they are bad but the good ones will easily be best over all other classes
Crazy cause i know a geared resto druid will be able to solo heal some bosses on heroic firelands, including heroic rag.
I never understood why people think resto druid was the best healer, they're not even remotely as good as holy paladin/disc priest til tier 13. Healing starting in cata isn't just about healing numbers. Its first about keeping targets alive, second what else they bring to the table. If other healers can keep targets alive just as well and bring other utility, why bring a resto druid?
Don't they have brez, big raid healing cd, group movement speed buff? I don't remember the entire tool set but they are far from just raw healing.
@@cruxe2372 Correct, they do have brez, big raid healing cd (every healer has some kind of big cd, shamans multiple I think). Movespeed buff is useful but I don't think it was as useful as it is in later expansions.
@@cruxe2372even with raw healing rdruids are the best.
Your outta your mind thinking disc priest keeps ppl alive in any other scenario than a fight with small raid damage, disc priest is only good with a healer actually healing, rdruid can do anything a disc can plus they actually heal
@@slushy1522 Disc priest lowers the healing required, so yes you will need another healer, if you're doing cata raids with 1 healer, I'd love to know the strats you're doing. Otherwise, disc priests will make the other healers job significantly easier. In dungeons, disc priests can basically negate any healing necessary and get around -100% healing received mechanics which there are quite a few of those because they can just bubble the target.
@@sfzrxgaming9875 as a healer main it's weird seeing resto shaman ranked higher than resto druid when resto shaman has issues for a lot of prebis content I wouldn't say rdruid is exactly stier but higher than rsham by a good margin
@@chilwil07 th-cam.com/video/1v-WxNGg2Y0/w-d-xo.html This person has the best cata healer analysis I've found on youtube, he rated resto druids fairly high. But I think most people rated resto shaman high because of spirit link, while druid have weaker cds but stronger overall heal. In the original cata during p1 shamans didn't have spirit link, so they weren't really represented. This time around its hard to say, but I think resto shamans in 25 man will be far better than 10 man. Druid will prob be godlike in 10 since overall dmg is lower and there is more room for hots to tick.
@@sfzrxgaming9875 maybe I've played with subpar healers but every fresh server I've played resto shaman seems to struggle with mana before being bis/firelands
This is not from best to worst
We are now 3 weeks in cata and yet to find any healer to top me up in any raid(i play resto druid)
They have great output!
It drives me nuts that guides or "top tier list" never mention RShammys unique ability to increase targets hp by 10% I mean cmon
As a long Private Server Player (Whitemane, Twinstar) that played every healer in Cata this is my thoughs:
S Tier: Resto Druid/Disco Priest A Tier: Holy Paladin, B Tier: Resto Shaman, C Tier: Holy Priest
Resto Druid: biggest healing out put of every healer, because cataclysm is the best expasion via healing out put, It's the first expansion that HOT's are legit broken, because how healing works It's not like in previous expansion that, If anyone went down from 100% to 50% hp you cast 1 heal to intantly top them to full, It's not like that anymore, you will likely bring 2 of them to 25 man, speaking of 10 man, they are not that strong via utility as a holy paladin, but they are stiill good you will likely be healing 10 man with Disc Priest.
Holy pala is the strongest tank healer and later in the expansion the best raid healer...
holy priest actually has very good output, it just doesn't have the utility that other healers do
Agreed
Holy Priest been shit since Wrath. The MP issues is ROUGH.
Great quality vid
Thank you bud
@@Riyaniwow It's not that well cus u rate them wrong. If holy was as bad as you say it is, why did method use them ? You say holy priest cant do as good aoe heals as the others which is total crap. Holy priest can do same healing or even heal more all the other healers.
Don't forget we will play at 4.3....healers changed a lot with this patch especially holy priest so....
Hpriest slept on. High throughput and much better at keeping inspiration up than disc.
How important is replenishment for healers in cata? Can you get away without it in 10m?
Quite important-- resto druid, ret, and shadow priest are quite strong, so I'd consider bringing one if possible.
The King of wrath were discipline priests 😂
Every class is strong. Just learn it to play 😊
It is true only for 10 ppl. But restodruid is the best on the hardest bosses even in 10 man raids.
Damn it's ok man
Disc will always have higher throughout. Back in world of logs days, disc was so far above on allstars followed by hpals then rsham h priest and then rdruid last. 😊
After having played multiple twinstar cata servers, mained healers and played in the best guilds, i disagree with this video. Have a good day sir.
Lmao the disrespect for druid was gnarly. They don't have mana problems at all with constant clearcasting procs, have strong survivability, bring brez and innervate, and tranq is one of the best healing cooldowns. In terms of sheer output tranq is nearly unbeatable, then you add tree of life and stampeding roar on top of that.
you really can't go wrong with any healer.
They are all pretty equal, some are just more equal than others.
Personally cata was.my fav.coz.i got rich and dominated with holy/disc =]
im so sad about holy. it's by far my fav spec for priest. :
All specs are super viable, so if you were running holy in wrath, you can absolutely run it in Cata
Aint no way a disc priest is S tier especially in pve
It is
"Resto druid won't be the best, they'll just top the meters!" As if that's not what most people are looking for lol.
That is some outdated way of thinking.
If the meter is configured for both healing and mitigation the RSham should comfortably top the meter with spirit link and healing rain. For about 15 seconds of the raid they'll be getting about 50K HPS from these 2 spells alone.
Yeah that matters in pugs, but nobody gives a shit about pug meters 😂
If you run with 2x disc, 2x holypala, then the last slot should go to holy priest. The ability to change sub-role depending on the fight is such a huge win. Spirit link is an awesome spell, but is mostly beneficial with major non-shielding raid healers like holy priest, druid and shaman, which are the minority of healers in the disc/pala majority comp. I think you want one of each healer type tbh, the holy priest is massively underrated. That being said, im the most biased person in this comment section to make this claim, as my wow-prime was as holy priest in cataclysm hehe
Spirit link is heavily overrated, outside of 100 corruption chogall mage strat and possibly on alakir phase 2 towards the end its borderline useless.
Literally makes the tank unkillable for 6 seconds. No other spell has that kind of utility.

interesting that your priest choices are the opposite of every other tier list for cata.
