Dimash was a competitor here on the Chinese show “I Am a Singer” in 2017 when he was 22. He became an overnight star in China from his first performance (of SOS), came runner up and kick started his global career. Other must watch Dimash performances from this show are: Opera 2 and Adagio where he also won first place; other high scoring performances - Autumn Strong, Daybreak, Daididau, Unforgettable Day; and Lionel Richie cover Hello as a guest singer on the show in 2018.
You’re right, Dimash started off in Mandarin switching to Italian. He sings in 15 languages but only speaks his native tongue Kazakh and Russian fluently, has good English and a smattering of Mandarin, otherwise generally learns lyrics phonetically. 🙏🇦🇺

This performance is from a Chinese talent show called I Am Singer that Dimash was invited to take part in in 2017, as a wild card. He was expected to last a couple of weeks, but stayed the whole series, coming 2nd overall, even though he won a number of individual shows. While there he began to learn Chinese & English & performed songs in those languages phonetically. I believe he is only fluent in Kazakh & Russian & had continued learning English & Chinese, but he always likes to perform a song in the language of whatever country he has concerts in. His 1st verse to Confessa he did in Chinese, as you rightly identified, as a respect for the audience, but then switched to the original Italian version. Another great reaction, thank you 😊🙏💕

Dimash has performed diva dance several times and does it slightly different each time. My favourite us called Drunken Concubine where he sings with a bake Chinese opera singer. Dimash hits an even higher note and the whole thing is a lot of fun.
The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.
Please react to the Diva Dance from his Bastau concert. He performed this song on his first solo concert in Kazakhstan called Bastau in 2017. It was after he finished The Singer competition in which he also performed The Diva Dance together with another awesome Italian song Confessa by the Italian singer Adriano Celentano. The Bastau version is short but in my opinion muuuuch better. He was much more relaxed there because it was his concert and no competition. What fascinates me the most is, that he sang this song in his concert where he had already been on stage for almost 2 hours. Just unbelievabel🤯. He worked so hard for this terrific concert. I was scared at first when I saw him. He was so terribly thin.

It’s called Drunken Concubine and it is from the Shanghai Spring Festival Gala in China. He sings with Li Yugang, a great Chinese Opera singer who usually plays a female in classic Peking opera. He is a very famous singer in China. The two harmonize so well together. It’s really fantastic. I love it and I’m sure you will like it, too🥰.

This is the TV Show "The Singer China" that brought Dimash international fame in 2017. The fellow competors are all professional singers with strong fanbases. Dimash was brought on the show as a "novelty guest" that was expected to crash and burn after a couple of shows considering the stiff competition. He was also the youngest competetor ever. The audience of 500 are the judges, all have a background in music fields.

Many singers (male or female) have tried. Nobody sings this song as perfectly as Dimash. He is the only person in the world who sings this song flawlessly. He reaches the highs as well as the lows effortlessly and he delivers all riffs and runs and staccati accurately.
When Dimash fell on his back and lay down at the end of the song, a worried viewer called out: Get an ambulance!

In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to TH-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

Confessa grew on me. He sings the first verse in Mandarin and then switches to the original Italian. Supposedly the Singer 2017 producers asked him to tone down the Diva Dance, so this version is a bit different than Phalalaguna’s. 😊 His Bastau version was more like The 5th Element’s - and much better IMO

Dimash did this song four times and every time, he got better. I hope you react to The Show Must Go On, All By Myself, and Adagio, all from this show. Wait until you hear Sinful Passion, Love Is Like A Dream, and Ikanaide. So many people will ask you to react to a song Dimash wrote when he was 19, Unforgettable Day, from his Gakku concert. I suggest you watch & listen to him perform it on this show. Unbelievable.

A song with incredible range is "Our Love" from the Masked Singer (Mandarin) Dimash is dressed as a steam-punk version of the Golden Eagle which is the national bird of Kazakhstan and his nickname when his career was just getting started.
Dimash dances because Michael Jackson was one of his childhood idols. Dancing did not come naturally but he worked very hard on it. He dances in "Give Me Your Love" and several other songs.
Mostly he hires troupes of dancers for his music videos and Concerts.
If video views remain low (under 5000) please take my advice and react to SOS/2021 Digital Concert. It is very different from your original SOS video. This will alert the fan base and bring them in to your channel.
