Excellent vid. Great to see Good Ol' Mick in fine spirits, as well as Big Lawrie.

I remember this well ( I wasn't there, but recall watching the news at around 5pm). And I've ready plenty about it since. It was a surprise, but not a total shock. Man United had been brilliant in the league all season, but had just tailed off at the end. They'd perhaps run out of steam at the end of what was for them a long, hard season. Southampton arrived at Wembley pretty much with a nothing-to-lose attitude. But they had some experienced players - Peter Osgood among them, no stranger to Wembley Cup Finals. So perhaps on reflection it wasn't such a giant-killing shock after all. Anyway, well done to Southampton on the day!

What a day - I was there, and I was there again in 2003, and I'll be there when Saints rise again.

Brilliant day , I was 16 years old then . We were given coupons at the Dell to be exchanged for tickets for a FA cup ticket . My Uncle kept them, and he used them to get two tickets for the Final . Left Salisbury bus station at six in the morning heading to Wembley. Who knew that 11 hours later Southampton had won the FA CUP !! The scenes on the motorway bridges were out of this world, fans flags banners for the Saints , it's a Memory that I will take with me to my last resting place. Come on you Saints .

@@TheBucklandBull So why did he play for Southampton in 1976 ? , and win the FA CUP, as he was born in Portsmouth and a fan of Portsmouth, also Micky Channon why did he play in 1976 for Southampton and not Portsmouth ? All I know and care about is that Southampton won the FA CUP with the likes of those two plus the 9 other players . Iwas born in Singapore, but I don't support Singapore, I support Southampton A .E.K ATHENS and England. P.S. I'll drink Tiger Beer as it was born in Singapore as I was . Ada ya .

At The Time Scummers Was Were The Money was, they didn’t want to play for Southampton, football is a job at the end of the day.

I was there-still got the ticket! Coming home on the train from Wembley to Southampton Central-every level crossing the cars were flashing lights and hooting.

Coleman was the best commentator for Sporting occasions. Never been the same since.

He was definitely the best I would say - with Barry Davies and John Motson not far behind. Nowadays the 'commentators' can't commentate for toffee, if you ask me. All melodrama with no insight.

The role of Mick Channon in the goal seems to be ignored. It was a deft touch. And, I always feel for Hughie - if not for his late equaliser against Villa, we would not have been there.

Offside! Definitely offside! Should have gone to extra time. Even a football pundit looked at this recently and said that it was offside!
