I just hope AI will never replace artists. Otherwise I can see AI producing books, films and everything we consume. I'm writing my fist book and also illustrating it. It's a bit discouraging because I finally found my passion and it looks like others can pop out books and illustrate them at a faster pace than I can ever do, or any of the authors/illustrators out there. Amazon for example already acts against AI generated books because it just spam. I hope we all can learn how to use this technology properly without leaving behind what makes us human, and in the end the human part of the stories in our books.
One more thing, the community of illustrators talks strongly against the AI generated images because the programs were fed their work and the developers use it for making money while they are not even credited for. In some images you can even see their signature. To me that is quite unethical. We will see how the future legislations will help balance everything.
On the other hand chat Gbt can write you a book in minutes. I don't know if you saw that 😮 then people run it through a rephrasing app and then it's undetectable for the copyright tools on Amazon for example. Blows my mind. We are really going towards a brainless generation with zero intentions and interest on learning and curating a craft.
U should see for yourself how CHATGPT's writing is nothing but garbage. It's redundant, lackluster and heartless. We writers can make unique stories, but it can only generate what's already been out there. And that's a great thing. Cause we can always change the direction of the tide...

Thank you Eevi, you answered a number of my concerns. My biggest concern is that no matter how beautiful these images can be, aren't we removing art from picture books? When I write a book I always have images in my mind but my favorite part of the process is seeing what my illustrator 'sees' from my words.

Stable Diffusion is the best option for this need. You can get consistent characters and are easily able to pose characters using Stable Diffusion. I’m almost done with my first children’s book illustrations. The learning curve was a lot but once I learned the right workflow and methods it’s working!! I highly recommend trying it!!

Thank you for the video.I just published a beautiful child story book by using Chat GPT and Midjourney. But I had to use Photoshop a lot to edit and rearrange these images. Character consistency was a challenge as you correctly point out but I somehow addressed it.

Eevie ur highly mistaken one can get consistent characters easily provided they introduce their character with a unique name. This helps in generating the unique character in different scene settings.
Yes, and there are other ways as well, as shared around 10:07. I’m sure it’ll get there, especially if we want interacting characters stay the same. Right now, it’s not quite there yet.

I am on my first book and thought about this a lot. A quick Google search says that an illustrator is between $500-$5000 for a 32-page book. Idk if that's accurate, but if it is, then how is a new writer supposed to earn that money back? It would take a very long time to get out of the red. If A.I. illustration works well, then I believe it is ideal for someone who is just getting started.
Oh won't some one please think of the poor authors and not the illustrators who are losing work to these tools?

Thanks Eevi, Decent and honest review 🙂. Whilst you look into this as an advantage for writers on one hand, do you not think that AI could replace writers also on the other?. People without either skill are producing books already and as the AI improves being able to differentiate between the pros and amateurs will blur. Total AI generated books by people who are good at using AI platforms rather than at illustrating or writing at the very least will eat into the market and eventually quite heavily, especially self published picture books, because it will be so easy to do and the standard will get better and better very quickly. Most consumers wont care if its AI or human made, just whether or not they like it (I cant speak for everyone here, but it looks likely over time for the majority) especially, if they can't tell the difference anyway which looks like it will be the end game. Sigh!!.
In the meantime which hopefully is a few years away, let’s not get too discouraged and keep doing what we love so much. Although I really appreciate all this information, I won’t let it make me feel defeated, there is still lots of room at the table for human creativity.. Peace

I'm sure some people may be mad at me for saying this since it's against the exact audience of this video, but as a children's book author I'd expect that you'd want to root for your fellow children's books illustrators... AI art in children's books is a very scary and real threat for artists who have a passion for children's illustration and want to make a career from it, I don't really see the point in making a video that's basically a how-to guide on replacing illustrators if you actually care about supporting your fellow creative peers

@mooeykazooey If you watch the video you will hear that her answer is "No, AI can't replace illustrators". She advocates supporting illustrators while embracing ethical use of AI as a tool for idea generation.
I was thinking the same thing. Especially since AI could write your children's book, replacing authors!
I guess the days of children's picture books being beautiful, unique pieces of art are gone. Very sad indeed.

These comments are disapointing to read. As an author and illustrator. Seeing how callous you all are in the name of your books towards illustrators, you know, the thing that makes the book special.
Everything was scraped from the internet to feed their plagarism machine, they fed our own work to compete with us in the marketplace but you authors are all "Poor me, illustrators are so expensive waaah" As if they're rolling in excess amounts of cash.
Well, we don't need authors now do we? Just chatgpt it.

@@EeviJones I love your videos Eevi, and have watched them numerous times and will continue to. But I completely disagree with your take here and I hope you reconsider this.
My opinion is anything done by AI in place of a human, especially something a human should have done, is wrong.
I agree! And people that don't have the consistency and will to work on improve or pay an actual professional that dedicated his life to his craft, should do something else. This is fast fooding art. And it's not ok. If you use chat GBT to write "your" book and midjourney to illustrate "your" book you are just a producer/editor or whatever. Not a writer. And myself as a consumer won't support this kind of plagiarism and invasion of lazy people without talent. Problem is how are you able to tell the difference and know which one is real and which one AI?
