I think making this has made want to try out more video ideas other than just stream highlights and osu! plays, while continuing to upload those as well! Edit: it’s been 5 years now and I managed to go up another 100k. Still 6 digit though.

Really interresting to see how other people started out. I started in 2014 and did the exact oposite as you did lol. Started out with the old nightcore jump training maps (SOMEBODY MAKE A MOOOVE) playing them over and over and focusing exclusively on aim and accuracy becoming a hdhr player in the long run. Guess the skillsets and weakpoints of players are visible from the start.
when i was worse in osu i always tried to do maps like dead to me, lyoshka etc and ended up being a hddt player

Ive had my account for 7 years, as of last month, and only recently bought a tablet to switch from being a mouse player. If you translate out my account age with my plays, it comes out to like... 2500 plays a year
Hidden hardrock hidden doubletime
Skillsets aren't necessarily visible from the start. You can always expand into new areas. When I started out I would exclusively play nomod on fairly low bpm stuff, mostly jump maps. Now I play EZHD and high bpm streams. I love that there are so many distinct skillsets in osu, yet they all influence each other. I don't see myself getting bored any time soon.
And I'm over here playing 2-star maps just for fun.

I’m 7 digit rn, been enjoying osu! through your vids for a hot while. So far, what I’m doing is actually pretty similar to your beginning. Started regular maps, then played maps I had on DT/NC,HR,HD. Rn, I’m playing maps regularly and trying to FC them. I have a minimal understanding of pp and am trying to get my rank up with the help of tillerino. I’m having fun so far. Might actually get into this more seriously.
Update 1: well, I didn’t even try lmao. Just reached 6 digit the other day (About a month or so after posting this comment). Definitely have been getting better, everything is kinda doodoo still, but I’ve been getting better at reading maps. Am able to beat 3 star maps well and a few select 4 stars. Will try to keep updated, been busy with work so I don’t play osu as much as I’d like to
Update 2: been almost a half a year since the last update lol. I’ve been playing on and off, been busy due to work. Currently inching up to the 700ks. Been seeing a lot of progress in my reading and aim, but my fingering needs work. Currently able to keep up with low 4 star maps in terms of reading and aiming, but my fingering is maybe mid 3 star territory. Definitely gonna do stream practice.
Update 3: One hour after last update, finally hit the 700ks. Currently 785,761 :)

I have a thousand retrys from when I first started, because I was trying to beat a world record on a low star map, and I was confident I could get the slider past 3k, which is what everyone else had. I eventually did do it, after 1.8k tries.

ive had osu for a few years and rarely play it unless i just wanna relax and listen to music while still entertaining my hands but I'm trying to get more into it and im having trouble getting above 3 star maps
i don't really practice so maybe thats all i really need to do

Really cool to see how your improvement was going, I've been playing osu! for 1 year, although 4000 of my plays are just for fun I didn't know what pp was until this last month when I was playing for one week and had gotten up to 3,380 plays and then this entire month a bit more than that. New subscriber and keep up the good work KoiFishu :)

Samuel Liu its all g man. Tbh just take your time and enjoy the game. Slowly get more beat maps and increase the difficulty by slight increments until you hit 4 stars+
3 stars is where i wish i had focused more on learning bursts and streams--i recommend trying to focus those a bit, itll help for later maps. and really honing reading/timing/listening

I liked to play maps that are 1 or 2 stars above what I can clear, and if i can get a C on no fail, I move on to another harder map. turns out it's not really a good way to raise your rank, but I enjoyed playing osu like that.

Maybe you're confusing a map that's 3* with 3mod and one that's 3* to begin with.
as a single player that transitioned into double tapping, i highly recommend you train yourself to double tap

@@TROLLER410 i know you didnt ask me but i started training my alternating at around 90k. you can always start earlier. also i still single tapped but i just alternated occasionally until now where i can do it consistently

hey, I just saw your comment, and I know you've probably forgotten about it, but I just wanted to answer it. Well, osu can be a rollercoaster, I've been hard stuck 7 digit for about a year, but I finally got to 6 digit today. It was really demotivating seeing my friends improve and me sticking to 3 star maps. But honestly playing with them and treating it as a reason to improve, and be the best I can be, withoit comparing myself to others was the way I stayed motivated. Not everyone does, at the end of the day, games are for enjoyment. If you don't enjoy it, there's no reason to continue playing it

I first started playing 2.3 star maps in 2016 and completely failing and quit after about 2 days cause the game didn't keep my interest.
After I got more in to music I got back to it and stayed, but still sucked. Now after about 4 months of actual playing I still can't complete difficulties higher than 4.5 stars... Though I do think it's amazing how you can visually see yourself improve. I don't really play with mods, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet...
This has definitely been one of the better games for me.
