    My husband owned firearms as a young teenager as he grew up in a rural area. He is now 70 & still has his firearms because he registered his rifles & applied for a firearms licence when the government brought in stringent firearms legislation following the Port Arthur massacre. You can own firearms in Australia as long as you satisfy the licencing authority that you are a responsible person & have a reasonable reason for owning that type of firearm. You cannot own assault rifles & personal protection is not a valid reason for wanting a firearm. Owning a firearm, just like having a drivers licence, is a privilege; not a right.

      Since taking away Guns, Australian States made tge decision to arm all Police Forces. They do not have a 'valid' reason to carry Guns. UK Police do a better job WITHOUT GUNS.

    I agree if you had universal healthcare would help a lot. I’m Australian and a nurse and I have worked in the US as a nurse. Many people that are school shooters needed mental health care and couldn’t afford it. I worked in US mental health unit and heaps of people were turned away. In Australia no one is turned away. Also if someone comes into the mental health unit I work in and they have access to a gun. Then the police are called

    In France we see any problem we strike and the governement fix it with our taxes ( sometime we dont even have to force them ), but in US i bet you have the good samaritan syndrome : someone should fix it , or the not enough tax problem gvtmt have no money for everything so it take ages to fix anything , of course rich people dont want to be samaritan or they would not have been rich in the first place or dont give a chit about paysant problems :))

      Issac Butterfield is NOT your general Aussie. He is a loud mouth, self-important and obnoxious. As an Aussie I cannot stand him.

    when election day comes in Australia , the most important thing is the sausage sizzle where the money goes to charity . when we vote , we say to ourselves did the c.... f...up or did they do a good job in the last 3 years , then we vote accordingly , and after that , we don`t give a f... until the next election in 3 years time . by the way , voting is compulsory here and everyone wants you to vote . at the last election 95% of us voted 😁😁🫡

    I am an American and I do take issue with the comment about Australians being cut from a different cloth. My wife and children are Australian, and they are not like Isaak Butterfield and the character he is projecting for the sake of entertainment. You will find that your experience with most Australians is what you experienced in the Sydney airport where everybody was ''chilled''.

    I still wonder how you got rid (or better said minimized) of smoking, since the tobacco was also such a big lobby in the US. And hell .. the Marlboro Man was the epitome of your "FREEDOM !!" for so long years.
    So did all the tobacco companies got some great deals that they can now instead produce synthetic drugs and other shit where they can even make more money frorm ?
    Seriously, whenever some USAians these days are so "shocked" that people in europe still smoke more than them, i wonder how could that happen ? And the whole gun thing, isn't it much the same ? Just let them produce more tanks, jets, drones, give them some little wars in africa, in the end who cares about dead people in africa, they are only worth 0.001% of a good american.

    The right to bear arms should be redefined as the right to bear boomerangs, peashooters and spud guns.

    American celeb culture is whack. Not just kids who answer "famous" to the question, what do you want to be when you grow up. Americans have elected Sonny Bono, Ronald Reagan, Jesse Ventura, Al Franken, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Donald Trump. Not all bad, but why them?

    its so funny to listen to those who know nothing about guns try to tell people they shouldnt own guns. its great

    • @barnowl.

      We have guns in Australia. However, they are not needed or used for self-defence. The guns are strictly controlled by legislation and law. You have to show that you have good reason before you can purchase one, they have to be registered, you are not allowed to own certain types of guns or rifles or too many, they are expensive, you have to check in with the police regarding them and the police can turn up to your house at anytime to check on them. We have learnt the lessons regarding (our) mass shootings. The USA Second Amendment needs to be amended ! The people of the USA need to realise that their society is being controlled by the arms manufacturing industry and associated groups. Wake up !

      @barnowl. good for your. Your government stole your guns from you. Self defense is an amazing reason to own a gun.

    • @barnowl.
      @barnowl. 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@General_Zod99The government did not steal our guns, After our last massacre the Australian Government offered an amnesty for guns voluntarily surrendered. Huge numbers were handed in. .Watch on You Tube, Aussie comedian, Jim Jeffries live stage show in the USA named .'Jim Jeffries- Gun Control Parts 1&2.' to get a wake-up shake-up It will destroy your argument regarding self-defense.. I've visited many countries in the world but would not put a foot in the USA due to your gun culture.

      @kingseb2252 firearms are used in self defense at the low end 60k times to 2.5m times a year in the states. Think of all those lives saved by someone having a firearm. Banning them will do nothing. Do you think all the criminals will just look at their gun amd go welp this is banned guess I gotta throw it away? You need to live in reality my friend
