    What do you think? Would you use a fabric cutter like this?

      I have a few of these, including the Studio cutter. I love mine but I find people confused about the point of this one versus the electronic cutters. You would not want to use the electronic cutters if you are cutting multiples of the same shape. The benefit to an electronic cutter is the way it is unlimited and you can create your own shapes and sizes without having to purchase a die. The Accuquilt allows you to cut multiples but you do have to maintain the mats to get good cuts but I have moved the free baby Go! I rec'd (and yes, I was a little curious about how the discount did not impact the "free" little cutter) to my upstairs to cut when I am hanging out with my husband because cutting scraps is a hobby in itself. I find satisfaction in using scraps to the last thread but I do keep those apart from the fabric I have cut with the proper positioning of grain lines. Crafter's Companion has those thin dies BTW and you can purchase an entire set of ALL the sizes for a very reasonable price. Your Accuquilt will cut those dies with an adapter and they are a great supplement.

    Cutting with my accuquilt go is far more accurate than I could ever accomplish on my own. As a result , the pieces are a joy to sew together.

    I just bought the bundle on amazon and the price was reduced by 175.00 . I had had it in my cart for awhile , kept going back to look and finally a substantial discount so i pulled the plug. Iam rubbish at cutting with rulers so i am excited to use this. Especially for the 2 1/ 2 " strips

    That companion set with the drunkard's path has been switched up by Accuquilt. It no longer comes with those two shapes and it has replaced it with other shapes. Just FYI

      @@ScrapFabricLove I have a set with the drunkard's path and I like it so much better than the new options. I didn't notice it until I started paying closer attention. I am currently looking at all the sizes and trying to figure out how to NOT repeat purchases just because a certain shape appears in sets or in a block-on-board and it is nearly impossible not to end up with duplicates. HST are the same as QST and I am trying to figure out why they are designated differently except I do know the orientation impacts the way you put the fabric down according to bias vs. nonbias and grain lines. I guess what I mean is that I think they are over selling by naming some triangles HST and some QST when they are the same shape and you just put two together or four together.

  • @kittyswanson3611
    @kittyswanson3611 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought the same cutter in January. I have made two quilt tops, both half square triangles - one 6" hsts and the other 4" hsts. I loved using this cutter for these hsts - no trimming because the dog ears are already sorted and no drawing diagonal lines. I was happy with my accuracy/points. I am looking forward to using the strip cutter for binding and making jelly roll quilts.

    I imagine this "toy" will make sure you continue to quilt and your love of quilting will grow, since the cutting will be so much faster and accurate. As soon as I can afford it I will be using your affiliate link if you are still an affiliate at that time.

    I appreciate all of the time you put into this video. I just can't accurately cut with a ruler. It slides all over the place. I like the strip cutter. It would be worth it to me just to be able to make my own bias binding. I also like to save money on buying the pre-cut charm squares. I'm going to see if I could find a used version on eBay. You managed to answer every single question I had.

    I have accuquilt go and few extra dies. my complaint about accuquilt is that they do not sell anywhere but their website and Amazon. Every thing ships from Nebraska which in USa might as well come from China.
    not sure why they don't open up wearhouse on eastern side of states.
    also their cutting mats are expensive and do not last long.
    I saw hack using plastic cutting sheets from dollar tree... I'm going to try it.
    If anyone else tries it please share.

    • @ScrapFabricLove
      @ScrapFabricLove  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a shame about shipping. I actually buy mine from the states with a low cost international shipper because the markup in the U.K. is so much. Or I buy secondhand from eBay.

    Hi Kristen. As a beginner quilter... I've made 3 so far from patterns... i am obsessed with the craft. The only problem I have is being restricted by arthritis in my hands. I came upon your blog by chance and then found this video. I would love to buy a cutter machine with cutters to suit my ambition to become a faaabbulous patchwork quilter😊. I'm just very uncertain where to start. I've read some of the comments and see that one person uses Gemini machines and one lady mentioned using spurios dies. I've been on the accuquilt website and I'm so confused about where to start and whether I need to buy multiple dies eg qubes 5 and 8 and larger mats or is the qube 8 set which comes with the Go cutter sufficient for now. I live in Ireland so anything I buy has to either come from US or UK with inherent delivery and taxes to consider so if I'm placing an order I'd like to get everything i need in one go if possible. I would love some advice.

      Hi! It really depends what kind of quilts you make which dies you want. I have a post about the dies in my collection (but I probably have too many) that talks about what I use them for if that is any help? It’s here: scrapfabriclove.com/my-accuquilt-die-collection/

    I hate cutting. It is my least favorite part of any of the fabric crafts. I wish they made a machine that could cut out garment fabric pattern pieces. I want a second the part about the English paper piecing hexi die. I feel like it would be worth it for that alone. I don't want to cut out a six-sided object over and over again.

    • @ScrapFabricLove
      @ScrapFabricLove  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the cutting is my least favourite part too for sure!
