Class is over with for the day and I've got an hour to drink coffee, watch this, and just pound out a few words in response to another offering. My experience in coordinating my family for an outdoor adventure is much like "herding cats." It looks like the agenda and schedule were set and everyone, despite minor distractions, got dressed, moved along, and got in the car without too much getting in the way. No one is complaining that people will be expending a little energy and churning out some sweat. To top it off, everyone still looks good, even though there's some talk of being haggard. I really think your haggard is quite different than my haggard. I can frighten the neighbors' pets if I walk out of the door in the morning without getting straightened up. So many times we hear that the modern family sits at home and are prisoners of technology. Parents and children sit vacantly in front of screens for hours and hours, shoveling fast food into their mouths, focusing their attentions on fictitious lives and activities far from reality. What did I see this afternoon? I saw a father decide upon a course and a family bounce out of the car, ready to take on the day. Ahhhhh... I love to see adults running up hills and setting fire to the calories that they just took in a few hours before. You know... that seeing things like that gives me that gentle, soft foot in my own personal backside to do more than I currently am. Although you can see a coyote or a wolf on the National Geographic Channel, nothing can replace seeing an animal in the wild. How many suburban kids today can claim they have taken the time to go out, ramble around, see, and eventually photograph beautiful animals in their own habitats? Taking photos of the family's chihuahua just doesn't cut it... I loved it when you changed lenses and got a closer shot of the coyote. Now, one of the cool things that I saw was just a snippet that I almost missed. The drone shots and music were mixed really well and it set a great mood. The expanse of the hills and land was juxtaposed with the trees, their size, and their ancientness. I was rolling in all of this when something just popped into view. It was only for a moment... you caught the drone hovering in between the trees. It was as if a tiny bit of modern technology was dancing amongst the old immortals. I don't know if this was intentional, but it provoked a little spark of imagination in me... which is really what any artist wants to do for his viewers. So, for that... kudos! And since I'm a baseball fan... I was able to gauge the age of this video. Game six, huh? I wonder if anyone else caught that... Keep on keepin' on!
