Exactly, never stop renewing, rediscovering yourself, it doesn't matter if you are 20, 30, 40 or 50, work on becoming the best version of yourself, visit & explore your interests, likes, whatever that is, consider learning a new hobby, language, anything you like. Don't use your past as a couch but rather as a trampoline to propel yourself to bigger and better things. xo from a mom who got her high school diploma at 45 after leaving the cult (and not stopping here).

Wow, thank you for sharing your inspiring story! You’re absolutely right-there’s no age limit to growth, self-discovery, and becoming the best version of yourself. Your determination and mindset are incredible, and I love the metaphor of using your past as a trampoline rather than a couch. Congratulations on earning your high school diploma and for showing that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. Keep going-you’re amazing! Sending you lots of love and admiration. 💛✨

I had a full scholarship to an HBCU and I did two semesters before I was shamed into dropping out to pioneer. Now, I’m 47 and I’m finally going back to school to further my career path. What a waste of time being a JW. I’m so glad to finally be free after 44 years in.

Starting over at 47 is no small feat, and it shows your determination to prioritize yourself and your future.
Your story will inspire others who feel it’s “too late” to chase their goals. Wishing you all the best on your new path-you’ve got this! 🎓✨

Thank you for this comment-it really captures the mindset many grew up with in the organization! The discouragement of higher education has left so many without opportunities to develop their potential, all based on the constant expectation of Armageddon.

@@ErikaMesi I agree! Their worst nightmare is when young JWs develop critical thinking.
How else would the org spoon-feed their flawed teachings? 😂

I was a “worldly” person who was scammed to join the jws which lasted a decade as a baptised cult member. I always worked full time which was a lifesaver as I engaged with others and had connections with friends and family. Now that I left I wasn’t impacted as much. I still decided on upgrading my life and now studying a diploma and will do a bachelor degree as well. I have always one to improve my life so I I seek opportunities for personal growth. I never had this desire for jw related stuff which I’m glad because my life would’ve been hard.

Thank you for sharing your story! It’s inspiring to hear how you maintained connections with friends and family and kept your career going despite being in the organization-that foundation clearly helped you transition out with more ease. It’s also great to hear that you weren’t deeply drawn into JW-related goals. Wishing you all the best as you continue upgrading your life-your story is truly empowering! 🌟

I mean, I always had jobs in offices and somehow survived (but only had a bicycle). After leaving JWs I went to work abroad and ended up in the diplomatic service and was abroad for nearly 30 years. This opened my eyes even more (I mean, after nearly 6 years in Afghanistan, you should know . not to talk about other nice places like South Sudan or Burkina Faso, Chad...), But: I met my wife, the most religious person I have ever met in my life. Today I life still abroad, will never return home. I have no contact with my family (not much remaining). Funny is - ever since I am excluded for apostasy NEVER ANY JW knocked on my door. Where are they? "Not at home" on the report card (which does not exist any longer?). I am really good and not poor, I can help two kids to study. This feels good,

Your story shows how fulfilling life can be after leaving. It’s ironic how JWs avoid those they can’t control, but it sounds like you’ve built a meaningful life beyond them.

    Higher Education:
Dinaig pa mga Mormons/LDS na nage-encourage ng higher education, to the point na may sarili pa silang university (Brigham Young University) kasi they think it will be beneficial sa mga members to become self reliant, and more tithing para sa kanilang organization.
Why fear College Education? Due to constant fear of impending doom ayon sa kanila?
    Or
...to shelter their minds na nasa JW lang ang totoo and sa kanilang pagdi-discourage to think critically and to research kesyo "false"? Part of development as human being, especially for our brain ang critical thinking, yet mali ayon sa org
    Or
...para di nila malaman kung gaano ka-harsh ang JWs?
    Or
...para di ma-bully kesyo iba paniniwala?
    Or
...ayaw ng org na magkaroon ng magandang career and maging self reliant at kumita for yourself kasi (as I remember Tony Morris said, correct me if I'm wrong) na pagtapos daw ng Armageddon ay di na natin need mga engineers keme or abugado or doctor, kundi karpintero at tubero.
    Lastly...why fear?
...para di malaman ng mga JW from the so-called "worldly people" how controlling the org is?
