We don't have any space to "park" the seat at the bottom of the stairs. Is there a way it can stay upstairs and be called down when required?

Hi Caroline, yes absolutely. The chair can be "parked" either at the top or the bottom of the stairs. The remote can be wallmounted in a small bracket, so it's easy to call the chair down or send back up as required.
