- Looking Glass' obscure hit, Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, is an engaging and clunky title that pioneered much of the squad based shooter genre with its numerous technical and mechanical advancements. Any retro enthusiasts willing to wade through its quirks will be satisfied and somewhat confused.

Oh man, I'm several years late, but you can still view the MFDs by pressing TAB while in the fullscreen mode, also you can press O for the options menu where you can also set the difficulty and the resolution as well as crank up all of the settings to max, it runs great when setting the cycles on dosbox to max or really high, you can also press H to view the hotkeys.

I dream every day, the appearance of the sequel or a spritual successor of Terra Nova SFC with better graphics and adding modern functions like swapping mouse-look in combat or mission select.
I played this one in 2019, well, some elements aged badly, but after all Terra Nova SFC, the early tatical sandbox FPS, was an very good and solid experience.
+ And may be better touch to make PBA more like a exo-suit. like Edge Of Tomorrow?
Holy shit, where has this game been all my life? This is the closest we'll get to a proper Starship Troopers game. As in the novel, not movie.
The things i'd do for a good, faithful starship troopers movie or game, at least the anime is ok
I'd set fire to an alien village, personally. And then start launching ordinance off of my Marauder's Y-rack. Ucho no Senshi was dece and I did like the utterly alien feel of the Bugs. But having a game where you command MI ala Republic Commando that demanded you to change tactics between fighting the Arachnids and the Skinnies would be something I'd preorder without hesitation.

The objective is easy. Getting everyone home okay is the hard part (salutes)
BTW, it supported VFX-1 VR headset and Cyberpuck controllers. A true gem of its time.
Fantastic and unique game, I only first played it back in 2010, when I had built a retro MSDOS pc. The tactical possibilities in a true 3D outdoor world with good enemy AI was really engaging. A real gem of old school game design when PC games were made by true gamers finding out what the PC could do.
This game also has excellent music.

This was one of the most intense action games I've ever played, I love it.
Having a squad based tactics game is rare enough, but one with mechs is even rarer.
Given your complaints, I think an Enhanced Edition treatment (similar to System Shock) would be great.
Boy, do I feel like a dummy, lol. Saw this in my sub feed, was intrigued by the thumbnail, said _out loud_ , "What the Hell is Terra Nova"? Turns out I _have_ this game on my GOG library and have played it before, but just barely. Jeez louise. I clearly gotta give it another shot!
Also, it was unintentionally perfect that the last guy you showed off while talking about people overacting & chewing scenery (1:31) in cutscenes _kinda_ resembles 90's Nic Cage :D

Mechwarrior with Iron Man suits, slick controls, and a Wing Commander-esque campaign. What's not to love? And when's the remake coming out?

I had this game and it was really, really good. Unfortunately, it's release was very ill-timed as it released around the same time as Mech Warrior 2.
A big box copy of this game remained unsold for years at the local (now defunct) game store. I wish I had picked it up, it probably went in the trash.
