@Cynthia Erivo If this is really you, I would like to add my appreciation to you. I had not heard of you until Strictly and I've looked up every YT of you. Aretha gave you her crown
@@liamgaine why not? Any play requires a suspension of disbelief. If you can watch a bunch of people running around a stage pretending to be in a field, and not think it looks rather silly, you should be able to watch a black woman play a polish Jew. What matters is the talent that makes you buy it. If the emotion is there and the message is there, the cosmetics don't matter a bit. Barbra didn't look like a boy in a single frame of the movie and yet it doesn't distract from all the sorrow, the pain, the anger and the joy the movie brings.
It's crazy because she's singing as though she's just talking! Making it look so easy and effortless. I also saw her in TCP and was so excited when she won her Toby award as it was truly deserved. Her rendition of 'I'm here' hits me every time without fail.
It sent chills through my whole body watching the Tonys. I really hope they released a soundtrack for this cast like they did when Daniel Radcliffe did "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying". I wish he'd do more Broadway...
she managed to give a stellar performance with only a piano and her voice. This song's power derives also from the arrangement written for a full orchestra, could have been a disaster with only a piano. She's amazing.
Especially for someone like Barbra Streisand who carried that last note for around 40 seconds. I'll give it to Cynthia Erivo who did what she could to keep up.

But the bonus of discovering how special Cynthia is made that night even more memorable. It really was a privilege to see her perform live.
Woaaaah. Her voice is perfection -- her outfit is awesome and cool and contemporary -- and holy fuck check out her torso when she belts out those last few lines! I hope we can keep Cynthia Erivo around for a bit.
I've seen this great British talent singing in the West End loads and I have always been obsessed. Am glad she is now famous. She is true lot talented .
I'm in awe every time I watch Cynthia Erivo sing and this is no exception. Her own rendition of Barbra Streisand's famous song, " A Piece of Sky," is phenomenal and masterful. I can't wait to watch her in " Wicked," the movie.

Many Filipinos are just like that.. They are proud.. too proud actually, to the point of needing to drag someone down just to uplift their idol.. Mind you, this is coming from a Filipino and not everyone behaves like that, but it happens..
@@darrenriccs Let's be specific here, Regine stans are the only people who act like that. They will always be there berating someone who is in the same sentence with Regine. Some of her fans are smart and intellectuals but the majority are just ignorant.

WOW WOW WOW! What a set of chops!! It was effortless. I feel like she was nowhere near the ends of her range. Rocking body too. This lady works HARD on her body.health, voice... and deserves every success!
This is showing her levels of vocal skills, that she can play other roles than just African American, just a good actress with a good part to play. I Love it I haven't seen talent on Broadway from a women of color in a long time.
As a fellow thespian, I feel as though I know you. You gave your soul right there on that stage. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall. Amazing darling.
Wow! I wonder if Erivo knows that Yentl was partially shot in the UK? That number was recorded in London and the scene was shot in the Irish Sea off of Liverpool.
That pianist really adds to this performance as well, especially at the ending. Superb all around.
finally someone acknowledging the pianist, lol!! cheers! (a fellow pianist here!)
I need the pianist's part to play myself.
Any ideas where to get it?
Yes!!! I was a vocal and piano major. I’m itching to play this version!!!! I LOVE THIS
yes the pianist was just life
@Cynthia Erivo I'm from Jamaica, you should visit sometime
lord she serving arms honey, I'm jealous.
Now, she's literally gonna fly in the Wicked movie.
