Shohei Ohtani in his first season with the Dodgers: - Career-high in HR, H, R, 2B, SB, RBI - 400 total bases - Dodgers franchise record in single season home runs - First 50/50 season in MLB history - First career playoff berth - First career division title
Ohtani will win the Triple Crown if he goes 6-12 at COL, Luis Arraez goes 2-12 at ARI, and Marcell Ozuna goes 5-20 vs NYM/KC. While not likely that would be epic.
That was a team effort! And despite Ohtani, Mookie, Smith, Pajes and Teo all hitting bangers, I gotta give it to Buehler for finally stepping up when it counts! ☝️💪
Today I watched a baseball game for the first time in about 17 years. Gotta say...the pitch clock has made it a much less arduous sport for spectators. Thank you Shohei for bringing me back!
Oh yeah! It was thrilling to watch a 2 to 1 game in the 7th with relievers taking a half hour between pitches, and endless relievers. Didn't give a damn by the time it got to the 9th, with all the commercials too. It's a lot better now.
@@lcglazer That’s exactly what I was thinking. Especially in that situation. The tag did come in low but I think he beats it and also doesn’t get hurt.
I've been a fan of Shohei Ohtani since he first started gaining attention in Japanese high school baseball. Despite being an extraordinarily talented player, unlike anyone of his generation, he wasn't blessed with many victories in high school. However, I can still remember, as if it were yesterday, the moment he won his first championship in professional baseball in Japan. His reaction was like a child receiving a long-desired toy as a gift-pure joy. And now, when I saw his reaction during the division championship celebration and champagne fight in MLB, it was just like that moment. After seven years in MLB, I truly believe he was starved for victory. The "victory" I mean here is having his team win a championship. This is what he has been longing for, and it’s why he follows the incredibly strict and stoic routine he sets for himself every day, more rigorously than anyone else. Everything is for his team to win the championship. I believe that over these past 10 days, leading up to the Dodgers winning the division title, Ohtani has made the world, not just America, realize this. Shohei san, once again, congratulations on the championship. I am truly proud to be your fan.
Ohtani has been more productive than anyone else in this series. He has a .909 batting average in scoring position over the last seven games, with 10 clutch hits in 11 at-bats. If Ohtani wasn't here this year, we would have been in the running for the wild card.
This is what the Angels could never do for Ohtani. So happy he gets to experience that real taste of winning at the MLB level and not just with Japan. Hoping he gets the World Series he’s always wanted.
Ohtani's 400 bases in today's game marks the first time in 23 years that a player has achieved this feat since Sammy Sosa (425), Luis Gonzalez (419), Barry Bonds (411) and Todd Helton (402) did so in 2001 during what was known as the Steroid Era. Aaron Judge, who hit his 58th home run in today's game, has yet to reach that record (392). There are three games left.
Speedy recovery for Freddie, we need him for the playoff. Congrats to the Dodgers on winning the division and it's nice seeing all the emotions from Shohei and Mookie. Job's not finished tho.
the last thing the dodgers need is injuries before playoffs xD we've had enough issues with our actual lineup being injured for like. 60% of the season lol. please let everyone stay free of injuries.

Congratulations to the Dodgers on winning the district championship in a very special game, the final game of the Dodgers' home stand: ‼️ You did a great job despite all the injuries 😄. Today was a good day for Buehler. He lived up to expectations in an important game. I honestly thought we were going to lose today because of the lineup being held back, but Smith did it first. He seems to be hitting well in important situations☺. But Freeman...will he be ok? I don't want to see a World Series without him 😭
Arraez still would have to go 0.250 or below his last three games and Sho to go over .500 against the Rockies. Ozuna also to hit slightly below average. But if there's anyone who can do it, it's 🦄.

Not gonna happen. We have no pitching besides Flaherty and half of Yamamoto who is on pitch count. Its as if lot of Dodgers fans have short term memories. Postseason heavily revolves around pitching and managerial skills and we have little pitching and no postseason managerial skills.
We also have knack and buehler, buehler was quite good tonight and can keep it up and knack had some rough outings recently but he’s had a good season overall. So it’s doable
Good outing by Walker Buehler and Musgrove. Big hits by Smith and Ohtani opened up the flood gates for the Dodgers most significant win of this season.
I think the position of the wild card 1st and 3rd should be changed in the playoff tournament. Only certain, it's easy to win if in a weak division, and the league 1st should be rewarded. Nevertheless, it's strange the wild card #3 doesn't have to play with league 1st. It's more disadvantageous the obligation to play the winner of either the wild cards 1st or 2nd than the league 2nd who can just play with either the winner of a weak division or the wildcard 3rd.
Don't know if the Dodgers 1st, and also nothing to do with the Padres. The trend of weak division winners being weaker than the wildcard 1st will continue like AL West. Just think be better to fix the biased tournament so league winners rewarded.
If one division is dominant, the current tournament format means the top three teams will bust each other from the get-go, so it would be better to change it.
