Late to the party, I know. I visited the school book depository when I went to Texas in Spring 2016. And yes, it also surprised me that the distance wasn't that great. It really was the perfect spot for a sniper.

Your comments are spot on. The first thing I noticed on my first visit is that the area is much more compact that it appears on pictures and video. Looking down from the 6th floor window next to Oswalds, the shot appears to be short and Elm St is straight at that point. Very good video.

I spoke with a friend who is (like me) a formally trained US Special Forces Sniper. My friend stood at that window, I'm not sure if he was on the 6th or 7th floor, but said it was an easy shot for even the average marksman. What we questioned however, was the complications involved with making shots in quick succession with the Mannlicher-Carcano.

We know Lee Harvey Oswald practice with the rifle before the shooting. Like any good marksman

Oswald fired three shots over approximately 11.2 seconds, with intervals of 6.3 seconds and 4.9 seconds between the shots. Is that still not possible?

I did a history trip to Dealey Plaza from Pennsylvania a few years ago. I also remember thinking, the book depository window and the X on the street were closer then I thought. I imagined them too be a lot further away.

I made a friend during the 1st Gulf war, a few years later I went to Dallas. Whilst there we went to the Book Depository, a while later we both went to the knoll/railway tracks. After a minutes an offical of some type told us to move on. I like to think I'm a semi good markman, I can hit a target (head shot) 330m easy, grassy knoll shot would have been the ideal shot to take.

I've lived in North Texas the majority of my life and have never come here. After watching this I need to make the trip downtown and see all the different museums here.

I remember vividly, as do most of my generation, exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news (Miss Ruckreigel's 6th grade class - lunch) and the rest of the day and the weekend. Will never forget it. I still despise Dallas (and the Cowboys).

You can see him with his tent set-up behind the narrator at 2:50 standing in the red shirt.
