They didn’t said it un the movies but The marauders map was created by Moony (Remus Lupin) Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew) Padfoot (Sirius Balck) Prongs (James Potter) when they were on their fifth year, so they could do mischief easily, that’s why Lupin knew how the map worked and how lock it and unlock it. And the nicknames are form their animagus form, Peter (a rat) James (a stag) Sirius (a dog) and for his condition Remus (Moony) they became animagus so they could help Remus on his transformation, also the Patronus have a corporeal form of an animal, and Harry’s dad Patronus form was a Stag, just like Harry, also, the Patronus of Lily (Harry’s mom) was a doe
Do we know his dads patronus was a stag, I think it's just that he transforms into a stag, and that's why Harrys patronus is one.

Trelawney isn’t a new teacher, she just hadn’t been shown yet. She’s been at Hogwarts for 13 years I think at this point, and she’s there because she had the original prophecy about Harry and Voldemort, so Dumbledore wanted to keep her somewhere safe.
The prophecy doesn't exist until book 5 so that's a bit of a spoiler.

@@ItsTotallyCody Also, Sirius was framed for killing 13 people when he supposedly killed Peter, but it was Peter who caused the blast that killed them as a means to fake his death and escape. Therefore, Sirius was completely innocent of everything he was accused for. Of course, he was so maddened by the fact that he never got revenge that he seemed culpable the entire time.
@@ItsTotallyCody If you remember the picture of the Wesley's near the beginning of the movie, Sirius saw the picture and noticed the rat in the picture was missing a toe, so it had to be Peter. In order to take vengeance for Lilly and James, Sirius broke out of Azkaban.

The reason why Harry has to return to the Durleys is because the house is protected by the same charm that saved Harry from Voldemort when he was a baby. His mother's sacrifice was "transferred" or just "expanded" towards her next of kin, her sister Petunia. Vernon and Petunia know about this, since it was in the letter that Dumbledore gave them when Harry was delivered to them.

So what happened was the Potters were under a protection spell where only one person can give away their location and as long as that one person never told no one would be able to find them; that person is called the secret keeper. Sirius was supposed to be the secret keeper but he thought that everyone would guess that so they should make Peter the secret keeper without telling anyone else, so no one would know the truth. So once Voldemort killed Lilly and James everyone thought it was Sirius who told. Then Sirius went after Peter and Peter yelled at Sirius loud enough for people to hear the Sirius was guilty and then faked his death so Sirius would go to prison. I feel like this doesn’t make any sense sorry it’s midnight and I just got off a closing shift.
The happy thought he had to conjure the patronus in the end was thinking of leaving the Dursley’s to live with Sirius

quick note (not spoiler) it is explain in the book that Sirius, James, lupin and pettigrew are the creator of the marauders maps. That's why Lupin knew about the map.

It doesn't say it in the movie, but the knight bus is summoned by holding your wand out over a curb, which is why it showed up for harry at the start :)
The Dementors, unlike other scary magical beasties, keep on giving in the terrifying stakes with the Dementors’ Kiss. This is the worst kind of horrible as the Dementor locks its jaws on the mouth of a victim and sucks out their soul.
‘You can exist without your soul, you know, as long as your brain and heart are still working. But you’ll have no sense of self any more, no memory, no ... anything. There’s no chance at all of recovery. You’ll just - exist. As an empty shell. And your soul is gone for ever ... lost.’
So in the books the reason Remus choses Neville is because Snape "warns" him about Neville and basically say that Neville can only perform magic well if he has Hermione telling him what to do, in front of the class. So Remus choses him to help build his self confidence.

So in the books it’s said that originally Sirus was going to be the one to know where Harry’s parents were hiding and everyone knew, but at the last minute in secret it was changed to Peter.
Third-years choose electives. Divination is one of those electives and Trelawney is the teacher. She usually doesn't sit with the other professors during meal times and instead stays in the tower where her quarters and classroom are.
In case nobody has explained it. Sirius was blamed because everyone thought he was the killer and traitor. The Potters knew they were hunted, so they went Into hiding. They knew one of their friends was a spy for the enemy. Lupin thought it was Sirius (Because most of his family was dark wizards) and Sirius thought it was lupin (Because most werewolfs joined voldemord under the war) . Nobody thought Peter would be able to betray them. So Sirius and the Potters told every one sirius was the Secret keeper (the only one who could reveal the location of the Potter safehouse) but make Peter the real keeper in Secret
The Marauders map's insult was specifically designed for Snape.
That will always be one of my favorite details from the series, EVER. 😄

Prior to the invention of the Wolfsbane Potion, Lupin was compelled to undergo an excruciating transformation every full moon. Once his condition was discovered by his three best friends, they sought a way to render his transformations less solitary and painful, which led to them learning to become (unregistered) Animagi, so that they could keep him company without harm to themselves.
Does the potion make it less painful? He still gets sick every month. It's just that during the full moon, his human mind still remains if he takes the potion and he's not a danger.

For some weird reason i always like the part when the dementors come on screen, i even got excited when i saw the dementors on the Harry Potter ride in Universal (California)
it's my favorite of all the movie, it's the transition to more darker theme movie and the change of scenery (if you notice a lot change regarding the scenery compare to 1st and 2nd movie.

This movie left out SO much from the books, I think more than any of the other movies in the series. It covers so much of the history of the marauders’ friendship that you don’t see in the movie. My favorite detail from the third book you might be interested to know is that Sirius used his animagus ability to communicate with Hermoine’s cat and keep track of Pettigrew. Also, Sirius escaped Azkaban to find Harry because he recognized Pettigrew as a rat when he saw the newspaper photo of Ron’s family in Egypt.
I love that you're watching this amazing series for the first time, the films just keep getting better and better!!! They are all so great

For me it doesn't make much of a difference but premieres are slightly better because you seem to get more notifications so you know when you uploaded.
The true question you should wonder about is how Fred & George somehow never noticed that Peter Pettigrew was sleeping in Ron's bed when he was clearly visible on the Marauder's Map. 😂

I wholeheartedly believe that due to how vast Hogwarts is and how many people inhabit it, the map will basically show you what you're looking for. If you wanna know where Filch or Mrs Norris is, the map will "highlight" their dots in some way, so that you don't have to search after them for minutes. If you wanna know whether a certain corridor or secret passage is clear, you'll of course see everyone in the proximity to these. So I don't think it's that strange they never noticed it, cause they were probably never very interested in the Gryffindor tower to begin with.
Sirius was blamed for the murders that Pettigrew committed as Pettigrew faked his own death by blowing up a street when Sirius confronted him, so it looked like Sirius murdered him and 12 Muggles. Sirius never murdered anyone but there's no proof except for his word, and the word of Lupin who due to being a werewolf wouldn't be taken seriously (wizards treat werewolves as 2nd class citizens, Lupin was lucky Dumbledore didn't care and hired him anyway but most employers wouldn't employ a werewolf, hence why Lupin wears tatty clothes, he's very poor)

A couple of fun things about lupin and his name are the fact that it is foreshadowing his transformation at the end. Lupin’s Latin root is lupus, which means wolf. And Remus, was the son of Mars in Roman mythology and was raised off of a wolf.

Serius chased after Peter when Voldemort was first around. Peter killed muggles, cut his finger off to look like he died and turned into the rat..only people saw serius at the scene and he was blamed for it
Richard Harris's (old Dumbledore) death was why Chris Columbus didn't direct this movie like he did for the first two. They were good friends.
The whomping willow is important because dumbledore planted it so James, Sirius, remus and peter could be with remus during his changes during the full moon...that's also why there's a path to the shrieking shack
It wasn't planted so that they could be with him, only so that no one else would unknowingly stumble upon him while he was a werewolf.
Dumbledore had no idea that James, Sirius and Peter had become Animagi during school and were roaming with Lupin every month when he transformed. The Whomping Willow was planted to hide the tunnel entrance to the Shrieking Shack. Lupin would be taken down the tunnel every month so he could hide in the Shack as a werewolf and the tree protected the entrance so nobody would stumble across him in his werewolf form.
Your reaction to this movie is everything! I was so excited the whole time. Especially for when you found out that Sirius is innocent and that he is Harry's godfather. And I hope you know that Remus (Moony), Peter (Wormtail), Sirius (Padfoot), and James (Prongs) were best friends and they made the Marauders Map. The Prisoner of Azkaban has always been my favorite!
My favorite thing here is that Snape instinctively puts himself between the kids and the werewolf.

Where Marge was being blown up. I think it was like an instinctive Silencio spell, cause Harry wanted her to shut up. If Silencio is performed incorrectly, that happens instead rather than being silenced.

Fun fact: The Knight Bus scene was mostly practical. By that mean, I mean the outside shots of the bus going at super-speed. In reality, the bus was driving at normal speed, while the other cars were driving very slowly, but they edited afterwards, obviously. They closed down the streets for those scenes.
The reason serious fights Lupin is a dog is because if he bites him he will not be turned into a werewolf
The Dursleys are terrible but their house is under a protective spell and it is the only safe place for him when the school is closed.
About quidditch... its played in all kind of weather you don't cancel a game of quidditch over a bit of rain 😉
During the scenes on the train, books explained well that the dementors are not after Harry precisely. Dementors' powers affected the whole train, and some others fainted,not only Harry because of Dementors . Also those creatures were called as security guards around the school's property.
So here's my question....if it was discovered in the last book/movie that it was VOLDEMORT who set the Basilisk on the Mudbloods and NOT Hagrid's giant Spider....why wasn't Hagrid allowed to reclaim his wand and be a wizard?
Sirius was framed. Everyone thought he was the secret keeper when he wasn't, he tracked down Peter but Peter yelled to the street how Sirius had betrayed them. Then blew up the street before transferring and running so it looked like Sirius had killed him.

trelawney is a seer which is a person who can predict the future and create prophecies, when trelawney creates a prophecy, she goes into some sort of trance then she speaks the prophecy, she then basically goes back to normal and has no memory of ever creating that said prophecy

If you are still wondering why Sirius was blamed for James and Lily's death let me explain.
James and Lily wanted a Secret Keeper which is someone who knew the current location of them and is the only person who can tell someone. The needed someone to trust so they thought of Sirius because he was James's friend. But they thought that was to obvious. So they picked Pettigrew someone Voldemort wouldn't expect because he was so weak. But Voldemort threatened Pettigrew so Peter told Voldemort James and Lily's location. Since everyone thought Sirius was James and Lily's Secret Keeper Sirius got blamed. And ya. ALSO Sirius went to kill Peter because he was the reason they were dead. But he didn't kill him he cut of his finger and then Peter killed 13 muggles and blamed Sirius. das it

Sirius was in azkaban because of a mistake. You get a way more informations in the books.
Voldemort was going for the potters and dumbledore said the best case is to use a spell for secrets. The Plan was that sirius (the best friend of james) is doing the spell so only he know where James, Lily and Harry are.
But in the last second sirius said its better wehen Peter is doing the spell because sirius was sure that voldemort will hunt him to get the secret where they are but he will never espect that Peter (a quite bad Wizard is the keeper of the secret.
Later Sirius saw that Peter isnt home and had a bad feeling and went to the Potters house and saw that James and Lily are already dead.... So he hunted Peter but Peter was faster and killed everbody on the street with his wand at his back so everbody thouht sirius did it... after that Peter choped his finger off and went as a rat in the Sewerage...
Maybe you asking ure self why the dont pick lupin... its because they knew a traitor is under them and sirius thought it was lupin and not Peter...

In the book’s when the dementors are affecting Harry on the train that woman he heard screaming His name is his mothers final moments alive before Voldemort killed her. This is a big reason he wanted to learn the patronus charm to not have to listen to those screams ever again. In the book Harry talks to lupin about it and its one of my favorite scenes of the whole franchise. Another constant reminder of how tragic Harry’s life has been. It’s a shame they don’t include any of this in the movie other then hearing a pathetic “ HARRY” the first time he comes across a dementor

My favorite movie of the harry potter movies😊 but the first book is my fave because I read it like 4 times when I was 12 years old. O the feels❤😊
Cody the reason why Harry have to stay at his aunt and uncle’s house is cuz when his mum protects him with her love magic, so he is also protected by blood magic and his aunt and cousin r the only relative/blood so as long he live with the Durslys Harry is protected by blood magic until he’s 17 the the blood magic is broken and any wizards knows where Harry lives.

Dementors dont care about good or evil, guilty or innocent. They are drawn towards horrible memories and feed on happy ones. Since Harry had worse memories from his past than anyone else one the train except maybe Moony and both where in the same cart.
