Radahn, Miquella, Ranni, Malenia... The Lands Between is basically a cosmic soap opera, and we’re just here stirring the pot. If you’re into the lore as deep as I am, let’s chat about how messed up this whole situation is! Which demigod’s story blows your mind the most?

10 headless demigods. I mean, those corpses in the walking mausoleums are all children of Marika, yet we know nothing about who they were and what they did. Only that they failed to meet their mother's expectations and were discarded for it.

I think Godwyn was absolutely intended to be the final boss of SOTE, but was changed to Radahn somewhat late into development. There are several things in the base game connecting Godwyn & Miquella (Golden Epitaph, Castle Sol & Walking Mausoleums, statue in the Haligtree) and Godwyn returning would not be a retcon or deviate from the base game’s lore at all considering it’s a fantasy world with arcane death magic and a Shadow Realm upon which “all manners of Death” wash up.
The reason Miquella failed to restore Godwyn’s soul the first time was not because the Eclipse happened and didn’t work, it was because the Eclipse couldn’t happen in the first place, due to Radahn holding the stars in stasis. This is why we needed to kill Radahn to enter the DLC, because Miquella needed the stars to resume their movements for the Eclipse ritual. Then he’d have brought Godwyn’s soul back, in Mohg’s body, as his consort. This would explain the battle of Aeonia as well; Malenia tried, but failed, to kill Radahn so the Eclipse could happen.
Also, Miquella’s dialogue in Radahn’s phase 1 cutscene: “… and my Lord Brother’s soul will return.” and his phase 2 dialogue: “Lord Brother. At long last, you are returned.” make no sense for two reasons. For one, ‘at long last’ doesn’t make sense considering Radahn has only been dead for however much time we spend in the DLC. Secondly, when he says “…my Lord Brother’s soul will return,” as well as “…at long last you are returned,”Radahn’s soul is already present in Mohg’s body. It’s not like we’re there to see his awakening, he’s standing and ready to fight when we enter the fog gate.
This is why I think these lines were originally intended to be used in a cutscene for the Promised Consort Godwyn fight, and that they were repurposed when they had to make the change from Godwyn to Radahn. The Gate of Divinity looks like it’s just begging for an Eclipse to happen right there, for the Eclipse to then drip light into the opening below with which Godwyn’s soul would be restored in Mohg’s body. It’s a shame we were robbed of such an experience.
Radahn and Miquella had no connections in the base game besides the battle of Aeonia, which would make more sense in the context of Radahn preventing Miquella’s Eclipse from taking place, making Aeonia more of a Miquella-Godwyn connection anyways. And no, the description on the Young Lion set “revealing” what Malenia said in that story trailer is not proof that they planned Radahn’s place as Miquella’s consort from the start. We had no idea what she was saying back when it release and I don’t think FromSoft did either, they could have had different ideas for the story back then and planned for her to be saying something completely different. They could have told us she was whispering the beginning of the Bee Movie in that scene and we’d have no choice but to believe them because that’s all we have to go off of.
    It shoulda’ been Godwyn.

Yes, this is a very nice plot and it does stand. The "at long last" for me could also be intended as that Radahn didnt die back when Malenia went to kill him and so Miquella had to wait for us. But, that stands both ways and your version does indeed make even more sense as it would have been nice to see the eclipse happening. I think Radhan did it all of his own volition, about the stars. It's a point that he's a golden order sucker and that he fanboys Godfrey, so when Ranni destroys everything, he, another child of Carian descent who knows about the stars guiding their destiny, just holds them in place, fitting perfectly in Miquella's plan

Side note. Due to Alberich's dialogue, we know Mohg was charmed before Miquella entered the Hallingtree. Alberich challenged Miquella after Mohg was charmed and was charmed himself. This couldn't have happened after Mohg took the coccon because we can see that while the coccon is torn, it wasn't opened. Thus Alberich must have attacked Miquella before Miquella went in the coccon, which would have been before the Shattering and all that entailed. Miquella staged the kidnapping, which means he abandoned his sister and all the Hallingtree's refugees willingly to death by Scarlet Rot.

@@AmeliaAeon Miquella like Ranni plans several steps ahead of everyone else and tends to be underestimated due to his appearance. My guess is after the failure to resurrect Godwyn at Castle Sol, Miquella went to Plan B: Rahdan. That involved finding a suitable vessel and when he looked around he decided that no one would miss Mohg. Then I think he arranged a meeting, the image in the trailer, by some means and charmed Mohg. Ansbach challenges Miquella, fails, Miquella goes back to the Hallingtree and sets his sister to kill Rahdan, fakes the kidnapping, leaves his sister and the Hallingtree people to rot (literally), does the whole pre-DLC stuff in Lands of Shadows, then died at the Tarnished's hands.

I have had an alternative theory cooking for sometime, see I don't think Miquella ever planned on Godwyn ever being his consort, namely because without Godwyn's death, Marika never loses her resolve and shatters the elden creating causing the shattering war creating the opportunity for Miquella to ascend to Godhood in the 1st place. No I suspect Miquella in fact not only had a unseen hand in the Night of Black Knives I think it was he who specifically selected Godwyn for assassination and commanded the Black knife Assassins to do so having them betray Ranni not only because foresaw the effect it would have on his mother's resolve to keep the Golden order going but to intentionally sabotage Ranni's ultimate ambitions and to protect his desired consort Radahn who I believe was Ranni's intended target that night. Think about it Radahn being slain in Godwyn's place would have been a 2 for 1 advance of her ultimate plan: shedding her empyrean flesh while freeing her suspended fate held back by Radahn. As things played out by Miquella's design he brought down the Golden Order clearing a path to establishing his own while effectively neutralizing Ranni the lone Empyrean that could rival him for an entire age (possible forever without Tarnished's intervention on Ranni's behalf)
This explains why Ranni & her crew appear to be in direct conflict with Black Knife Assassins since the immediate aftermath of Night of Black Knives with Ranni imprisoning their leader Alecto in the Evergoal on the Moonlight Altar and Black Knife Assassins attacking Blaidd and slaying Iji upon Ranni freeing fate and slayer her fingers becoming a viable threat to their true master Miquella's grand design/ambition to ascend to Godhood. I'm not sure why but most people seen to miss the fairly obvious connection to Miquella and the Black Knife Assassins in Ordinia where not only is the Black Knife Assassins armor set located, but hosts the largest number of living Black Knife Assassins in the game all of which just so happen to be guarding the seal to Haligtree in service of Miquella.
To think the Golden Boy Miquella had accounted for everything (even played Ranni for a chump using her own talents to advance his ambitions as he sabotaged hers on the sly) but his own mother's contingency plan: the Tarnished the exiled warriors & kin to her discarded Consort who only grow stronger in the face of death so long as their ambition burns until at last they become the unthinkable: mere humans that can slay even a God

Ranni found out about his plan and made one of her own, no plan needed, just slay her flesh at the same time of godwyn's death, so that one soul and one body will die.. and that's why "Godwyn SHOULD have died a true death", because he was a sacrifice for Miquella's godhood, destined to die and be reborn as his lord, but Ranni intervention ruined everything, and so the eclipse was never complete, just a half circle, wow this game.
Edit: Actually Ranni could have known about the plot of Miquella and just betrayed him at the end slaying her own flesh.

You know what doesn´t make sense, why would Miquella want Radahn to protect Sellia, also how can it be Miquelas plan to halt Ranni´s plan to Godhood by KILLING RADAHN, the thing that is literally holding her fate in stasis, that is as dumb as it gets if youu want to prevent Ranni while ascending yourself. Why did Radahn´s soul "wash up" at the damned gate of divinity also makes zero sense.

    • @AmeliaAeon
      @AmeliaAeon  หลายเดือนก่อน

Ok, so Miquella didn't care about Sellia but he may have used it as an excuse to "convince" Rahdan as he is the one that cared about Sellia... If Miquella told him to halt the stars to block Ranni's plan, Rahdan may have not agreed to and Miquella may have given away too much of his plan..
Now Miquella needs some time to go to the Land of Shadow and sort out his business. While he does so, he needs Ranni to be blocked and unable to ascend to godhood before he does.
This is why Rahdan is holding the stars for Miquella. To buy him time and Stop Ranni. Rahdan in my opinion is not aware of Miquella plan,
When Miquella is done in the Land of Shadow, that's when Rahdan needs to die to become his Lord.
This is just my theory for this video and how I puzzled all the gossip together. There are a lot of other scenarios that people have pointed out and are still valid :)

I personally am agaisnt the idea the miquella purposely manipulated Malenia in any way with his charm powers. His Charm power is actually not very strong and Ansbach, Hornsent and Leda all prove that they have their own goals and they still pursue them despite being charmed. Malenia loyalty was won not by charms but by the dedication of miquella to cure her and improve her life. He was the one that wove unalloyed gold into her body, created the needle to stop the rot and was the creator of her prosthetics and armor. She clearly developed a complex for her brother and only wished to protect him and the fact she still willingly calls herself blade of Miquella is proof enough she was not charmed. Miquella goal drove him from the golden order, pushed him to grow his Haligtree, forced him to leave his other half St.Trina* and ultimately allowed him to become a God.
*St. Trina own power to put people to sleep and allow her to walk in order people's dream is not capable of curing Malenia's Scarlet Rot.

This is definitely a plausible theory! There is no proof whatsoever that Miquella charmed Malenia. It’s just a theory that, if not disproven, could potentially stand.
But a charmed Malenia fits this plot nicely in my opinion.
The fact that Miquella was helping her could definitely be a factor to influence her loyalty!
The lore of this game is so tangled 😅

@@AmeliaAeon Yeah, the lore definitely feels tangled but this part of the lore is definitely written by GRRM. I expect many will view miquella as evil but his like his mother, he just wants to help the people he loves. It's what makes the minor erdtree incantation heartbreaking to see.

Ye, it make sense, I do find myself constantly wondering wether Marika was good or evil.. and now same for Miquella I guess. It's like Unity in Rick and Morty if you know what I'm saying.. like it's so immoral but it was actually better when she has control over everyone 😂 where do we draw the line????
