SAVOTTA HATKA w 4L Side Pouches, FDF Sleeping Pad, ASKARE

  • The HATKA 12L is an incredible day pack from SAVOTTA. It is both backpack and additional storage on a larger backpack like the JÄÄKÄRI M. Adding 4L Side Pouches increases the capacity to 20L with additional room for lashing other gear. Swapping out the shoulder straps will greatly enhance the experience as the load increases. With the additional storage/weight, the pack is very comfortable. If you have a HATKA, this is well worth experiencing.

      Thanks brother! I hope that didn’t come across wrong at all. The pack is definitely a work in progress. Keikka straps on it, Savotta foam pad in back as per your recommendation (I like it!), as well as a couple cinch straps to tighten it all up. Just loading it up now for an overnight. I am not too keen on it by itself like this, but on top the ASKARE it is awesome. Oh, SAVOTTA shared your video on Instagram the other day! Pretty cool. Cheers 🤝

    Nice to see - already stuck a 4l on the side of mine, and had been considering another for the other side. I also swapped out the straps (which I'd put on Sarma Sling Pads) for an extra set of ALICE pack straps. Very comfy, and so far has alleviated the need for a sternum strap.

      Excellent. Yeah, the ALICE work perfect on this. Some compression straps to snug up the 4L pouches might be worthwhile.

    Good Evening Jess ..
    👍👍👍 Super 😊.
    I've got a set of the 4L Pouches for my Savotta Jääkäri Jäger S. They are a definite plus.
    When I don't need them at any moment, I just keep them inside the Pack. I can still pack stuff inside them, inside the Pack (aka when Grocery Shopping and such). Should my purchase be larger than expected, I move them to the outside and 'Voila', we have extra carrying capacity 😊.
    For the back of the pack, I got a 'Beaver Tail' from Varusteleka. Comes in very handy for stuffing a jacket / whatever therein .. or a bundle of firewood, etc, etc.
    A good share .. thanks for keeping us up to date. Until next time then, take care .. Tommy

      Hey Tommy! Man, you have an excellent setup. Very flexible. The 4L pouches are great. Transferring them in and out of the pack to suit different tasks is very smart. The beaver tail... so simple, but incredibly versatile. Well done 👍 👍👍😁

    i was just thinking of upgrading my hatka this way a few days ago. right now i have 1L bottle pouches from camelback on both sides of the bag and i can hold a decent amount of stuff with those for work (snacks, liquid IVs, eyepro case), but when i’m doing weekend ruck/milsim events i could use a bit more space for a variety of stuff.
    right now it’s also kind of goofy looking because i pack my sleep system (foam mat+woobie+bivy) horizontally. the balance isn’t amazing but it’s so easy to deploy my bed and still considerably light.
    this channel is awesome but now i gotta prowl for a set of 4L pouches in multicam

      Checkout my most recent overnight with a hammock in a thunderstorm. I use this setup with the compression straps. Shoulder straps were upgraded to KEIKKA harness. Super comfortable. the askare is something ive got coming in the mail today actually. i just hope it won’t have the same sagging issues as the helikon tex buttpack i wore in west virginia. and when i get the 4L pouches i’ll definitely grab a padded keikka strap set because ive been using a set of sternum straps since i’m skinny and i can fit it on with whatever i’m wearing. they dug into my shoulders rucking this weekend but i rely on my shirts shoulder padding to that work, it was just too hot to wear it

    That's cool! I just got my Hatka and can't yet decide whether to get the Jääkäri M or L with which to pair the Hatka for some bigger carry down the road, so I was thinking about what it would take to try and do some simple overnighters just based on the Hatka. This is one interesting solution - thank you for the idea!
    I already got some shock cord but no pouches; all of those additions would remain useful with any other possible choice of backpack, in any combination...

    • @EnduranceRoom
      @EnduranceRoom  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@sietuuba That’s great! The Hatka is amazing. The stock shoulder straps are very good, but if you ever decide to upgrade them, the Keikka shoulder harness is a nice option. Both the M and L are excellent, but I would probably start with the M. It is very capable, especially with the aluminum frame. For most trips, even winter when combined with the Hatka, the M has more than enough.

    I am torn between the Savotta Askare lumbar pack and a battle belt/war belt that contains P.A.L.S. webbing for pouch attachment. I'm currently leaning towards the war belt scenario that is equipped with a lightweight shoulder harness. To which I can attach any number of swappable small pouches so that I can configure the war belt to meet specific needs.
    I can't recall if I saw this hack on your TH-cam channel or someplace else, but I just received in the mail 2 brand new, NOS, post-Vietnam War era, OD green, U.S.G.I., LC-2 canteen covers equipped with lightly-used, surplus, A.L.I.C.E. clips.
    I intend to pair the two LC-2 canteen covers with two olive green, U.S.G.I. surplus A.L.I.C.E. to M.O.L.L.E. adapters and two current-issue, olive green, Finnish 1L plastic canteens. All 4 items of which are currently in transit from Varusteleka in Finland.
    I've been looking at the *Savotta 12L Hatka Day Pack* for some time, although I have also been looking at the *Varusteleka, Sarma, TST, DP10 Day Pack* that is equipped with padded shoulder straps.
    I've been seriously looking at the combination of the *UARM, AWBH, Armored War Belt, High paired with the UARM, TCCA, Tactical Clavicle Carrier Assistance shoulder harness with sternum strap.* Expensive, to be sure, but not out of line with the cost of Savotta and Varusteleka gear.
    *Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and I thoroughly enjoy your videos!*

      @EnduranceRoom  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! The war belt idea is great. I have an ALICE setup and a MOLLE setup. Both are awesome, but they are also very tactical. Not a bad thing in the woods. Personally, I really really like the ASKARE. you can run pouches on the belt, fit it with suspenders/harness, but you can also where it around other people without freaking them out. There is room inside for at least 2 Finnish canteens. Right now, I am running one inside, and then I have a second belt (25mm webbing with fastex buckle and tri-glide). Varusteleka sells a Swiss general purpose strap for 3.99 that would be great for this. On that belt I have my knife, dump pouch and second canteen in a the same USGI pouch you have. The ALICE clips are okay, but they need to be secured/tied so they don’t come off. I replaced mine with a piece of webbing, making a belt loop. I am really happy with this setup. Pretty much all essentials including first aid, fire, water, repair and navigation all there. It’s lightweight, convenient and of most interest to me at the moment, it supports my backpack. The pack literally floats on top.
      Between the DP10 and the HATKA, I would go HATKA. They are real similar, but 2 extra liters on the HATKA plus some internal organization. With a normal load in it, the stock straps are more than sufficient and can easily be swapped out for something else at anytime. I really like ALICE LC1 straps on mine. Recently though, I put on the KEIKKA harness, which is also quite a good fit.
      There you have it, man. Hope this helps. Cheers
