I love your take on the skillet. Use it and it earned its lifelong rest. I have the oval Dutch oven and I use it for big batches of jams. But I don’t have the others you mention so it works for me.
yep, the skillet did what it came to do and it did a great job, no need for a new one especially since I have the Staub 11' deep skillet. What a great use of the oval dutch oven!!! What a great idea!
I am at the point where anything I buy has to be EXACTLY what I want. Signature series, the right color, the right shape, etc. I’m not buying things just because they are a “good deal”.
Yes, this makes total sense waiting on items that are best for your cooking style.Currently, I am willing to patiently wait for the color bamboo to be released in either a round Dutch oven, chef's oven or saucepan!
With the skillet being gone, you now have the perfect excuse to get the everyday pan! With the bread oven, I have two of them. Like you I don’t make one loaf. But I only make two at once (sourdough) so it works for me. I use the bottom as a skillet also, pizza pan, baking rolls, etc. For me, 2024 is no-buy year! I have soooooo many LC items. Many items I have 4 each (different colours 😂). All of my stoneware, metal baking, non-stick, dishes, utensils…all LC. So I think I’m best to just stop the insanity and live vicariously through other videos and people’s Facebook group posts for all the new pretty colours! Haha Oh, I also have the crepe pan (in the cast iron and the non-stick). You can use it for many other things…just another flat cooking surface (naan, flatbread, wraps, pancakes, tofu, fajitas, etc.). Oh, and for the oval DO, I have the 4.7 and the 6.7 and I don’t use them much. The larger one I never use. I’d bought it for bread but use my bread ovens now. Like you I don’t roast any birds etc. So it’s just another « shape ». I also think if you can only have one shape, I’d go round. If using electric or glass stove top (like me) I find the heat doesn’t dissipate as well to the edges. Oh, another item I rarely use because I don’t have gas stove, is the press that goes with the grill pan. This saddened me when it arrived and I realized it doesn’t work unless you have a gas stovetop. I use it for weight but that’s about it. Sticking it in the oven is cumbersome and messy and just not worth it.
Hahahahahaha!! I love this!!! I like how you said now I can get the everyday pan!! LOL!! I actually thought about it but I am not sure if I would use it on the regular. I like the bread oven and never thought about using it as a pizza pan or something along those line and I quite like that idea....Also, now you have given the crepe pan new life with the thought of using it in all the ways you have listed, lol!!! I would love to hear your recipe for sourdough for sure. I have tried to make my own sourdough starter for a while now and it doesn't work...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@@karenandmaya8329 I use the basic everyday recipe in the book by Emilie Raffaela…artisan sourdough bread made simple. There is a whole section on making your starter too. My starter is about 6 years old. I’d give you some if you lived near me hahaha London Canada 😅
I bought a LeCreuset and ended up exchanging it twice due to pinholes, ended up returning and bought a Staub instead, are pinholes a common thing?? 3 dutch ovens had it and so did the displays 🤔
I don't plan to buy anything new except for the Signature Everyday pan, I don't need it but I am losing to temptation, it is just a matter of deciding on the color. I thought about the Heart Cocotte..maybe the size is 2 Qts or liters, and the heart shaped cookie pan but I don't need them and probably would not use them often enough. :)
The everyday pan is great. I use it a ton. Suggest getting the glass lid in 11inches/28cm to go with it. It makes it a lot more versatile. I got mine in Agave.
LOLLOL "I am losing to temptation!" Hahahahaha! this is too funny! I like the heart shapes too but I know myself too well and I think right after valentines day I would put them away and not take them out again until the next year. I think they are so cute though!!!
@taniaallan5702 Thanks for the tip about getting the lid, I wonder how soon they will be back in stock? I thought I'd try to substitute it with the 11" Staub domed glass lid but they also are sold out and I am not sure if the lid would be compatible, even if I could find it. :) Agave and Licorice..I am having a hard time deciding on the color, but I'm leaning toward agave now. :)
I’m at the point to where I’m more than grateful for the 4 sets I have along with some baking dishes. I once had none 3 years ago. It was just a wish therefore, I don’t see myself purchasing any in 2024… UNLESS they put the chef’s oven in matte black. Otherwise, I’m done for a while. Sorry about your skillet😔
Thank you!! I am so glad I was able to enjoy the skillet for the time that I had it, but like you I am grateful for the opportunity to have had it. I am hoping for a chef's oven or saucepan in the color bamboo after that I think I will be done(green is my favorite color)
@@karenandmaya8329 I have the olive green in a variety of sizes. As much as I would have loved to have the bamboo, I don’t see the need for another green scheme but it’s surely pretty 😊
You are so right, we were so surprised that the handle completely detached, but I figured it was one of the older pieces, but maybe I will call and inquire about it.

Have to share that I just bought a braiser, the larger 5 qt. after seeing your videos. I love it!
Awww I am so excited for you, which color did you decide on?
I got the meringue. I love it. @@karenandmaya8329
I fried my 9 inch flame skillet instead of putting food in it. 🥴 Now thinking about a new one but may want a different piece more.
The everyday pan is a great addition.
@@karenandmaya8329 You are right. That would be perfect
Absolutely, it's like 2 for 1....a skillet and a pan LOL@@Mistyrain487

I would contact Le Creuset. They have a lifetime warranty. Regardless of how it happened, the handle shouldn't come off!
You are so right, we were so surprised that the handle completely detached, but I figured it was one of the older pieces, but maybe I will call and inquire about it.
I would definitely give it a try. I had to replace a piece that was a bit older and they gave me a newer one. @@karenandmaya8329
I WILL NOT be purchasing the bread oven--even though it has begun to peek my interest.
