Another thing to add. Most of the biggest TH-camrs are introverts. You would be surprised how many are introverted. They like to live in their own bubble.
I finally started my podcast and published the first episode. As an introvert I've always had trouble expressing myself and getting things out of my head. My podcast isn't about anything complicated, I just talk about obvious yet overlooked facts about life, but I already feel better. As an INTJ I just love to see things from different angels. That's why I always sound abit odd to others but now I can use this trait to create content.
Totally agree, I'm heavily introverted and I love that it's form of communication and creating value that is on my own time and it has definitely helped me work on my public speaking as well
absolutely agree! starting a youtube channel has honestly taught me how to be more human and stop being an alien haha. over the years i’ve become pretty good at faking a more extroverted version of myself and can sorta mold into any environment that would require that. very useful. it’s interesting to look back at everything from a 3rd person perspective and see how I can keep improving. the process of content creation and speaking on camera can translate incredibly well to other things in life.
Any other introverts find it much easier to speak to a live audience than to speak into a camera? Not only is it harder to gauge the context of the situation, I feel that when you're just there talking by yourself to an unseen audience, it blurs the line between public speaking/performing and thinking out loud (only this time, with more hypercritical/perfectionist tendencies taking over). Like, instead of having thoughts such as: "Holy shit, people are stopping their lives to listening to me, so I better make it good and seem like I'm taking command so as to shield my weakness with apparent competence; if it doesn't go that well, at least memories are fickle and a bit of stumbling is fine because it's live, you're only somehow homo sapien, and people know this; any stumble and you need only laugh it off all relatable-like or carry on like it never happened; and yet, this could well be a fine endeavour indeed; this is what you've prepped for, and it'll all be in the past once you're on the other side; right, time to charge steadily to the end; there's no questioning Ni now; ready positions; tally ho, lad!" Making a video/voice recording instead makes me think: "Lol, what am I doing? I'm talking to myself; oh crap, it has to be coherent; wait, what's the audience again? would they respond the way I would respond to myself; what are they thinking right now? there aren't any clues; darn, I need a retake; just cut that out in post; annnd... I need another retake; am I still coming across as a hostage? ugh, I've said/seen this so many times, I can't properly gauge it anymore; ugh, editing feels like such a time suck; also, whatever I put out serves as a permanent record to be replayed again and again... Oh no!" Does anyone else think this way, or am I really wierd even by INTJ standards?
As an INFJ I can totally relate to this. Since I've learned to overcome my shyness and come more out of my shell, I love talking live to an audience or giving a presentation. But when it comes to making voice mails or talking for a video/audio I start to struggle. Over all I'm an extreme perfectionist so I usually delete them and need at least 3 attempts to make a propper sentence. I think the reason why I'm better at speaking to an audience is mainly because I know I can't delete it or take my words back so I'm forced to focus, think quickly and most of all I have less time to doubt myself. (Sorry for my grammar, I'm not a native speaker... Anyway, greetings from Germany ;)
Such a good video, as always. I'd add that posting content you care about helps create a better relationship with your Fi (definitely helped me)! Feeling understood, making valuable connections in the niches you're interested in, and having fun debates in the comment sections is priceless. Plus, you're bettering your filming, editing, and communication skills consistently, which will be very valuable. Right on point. x
Editing makes all the difference--it helps me feel less like I'm being put on the spot and more like a thing that I made is being put on the spot, and that's a helpful separation. I hate to think my neighbors might hear me recording, but then I don't really mind putting the final (edited) product out in the world
I’d be terrified in this current cultural and political climate, honestly, to put myself out there, on the tube. Plus they keep cancelling people’s accounts, who are really nice people. People are being so mean to eachother. It’s really sad to see. I just find it heartbreaking. Sorry for all the feelings. Please, don’t panic lijo, I’m okay, you don’t have to soothe me. No pressure. I got this. Usually I am quite logical to outsiders, with a warm, snappy, engaging delivery that implies far more emotion than I am actually feeling, but this time, I’m just the feels. Note the lack of snappy, engaging delivery. I’m in the loop, I think. -INFJ
Always been tempted... Learning to talk to a public is a frightening and liberating "thing"... the thing is always present... :D A live audience is preferable....you have an immediate back up , if one pays enough attention, and can manoeuvre through the "jungle". I would do that....really ...the perfectionist is already thinking at the subject and the level of maximum precision.... The practical part of me: is looking at me at the moment , sad look, basically saying no with a slow motion of the head.... while I am typing.
Took me YEARS to decide to make a channel, and I decided reviews is what I was comfortable enough to do videos. I edit nothing. It takes too much time 🤣. plus, I've done sales, so I'm used to going into that "mode" if you get what I mean.
My channel is going live in May. It's one of those 'follow along with me . . .' so it's tied to start of the thing. What I like about the process is trying to get outside my head to script content that viewers might like as much as I do. I'm also looking forward to that weird sort of community that grows in the comments between the content creator and some loyal followers. The best form of interaction - not on the phone, not in person, focused around a topic I selected, and can delete those I don't like. Yup, that's how I human. ;-)
For those who can't get big cameras and stuff for youtube, you can start podcast with a low cost microphone (it can work great if you learn some audio processing software).
@@InternetLiJo I'd prob focus on subtypes and the intertype theory. Like maybe make a video about the similarities between the conflictor types. For example what personality traits do ESFJ's and INTJ's share.
Second to that -- do it! I started off telling odd little stories and more recently branched into MBTI. No editing, but refine over a couple takes. I'm so-so -- INxJs seem to get very good at it.
I encourage you to do so, because there aren’t a lot of us out there, who stick with it. FJ has too many droolers now, who have no sense of humor, and just like lookin’ into his beautiful baby blues; his comments’ section used to be interesting , but now, they are a bit of a vapid drag. Not his fault, but sad just the same. Are you, perhaps over the age of 30? If not, it doesn’t matter, I would ask that you consider interviewing older infjs, and I don’t mean elderly, but they are good as a well, but, to add some perspective, very much needed, in the arena of INFJ TH-camrs. I’m a middle aged, female art professor INFJ, and we change so much as we age, which is very difficult to anticipate, as an INFJ in your 20s and 30s. We can be clouded by the “J” need for certainty, to the extent that, as I discovered, we can believe a very temporary stage of our development, to be a truths we must face, of our type, which Frank does, as have many others, when it is dead wrong, and they simply aren’t. This frustrates me so much, because it doesn’t help other infjs, to see these videos, as it actually really hurts them, and their progress, at kind of a crucial point in their lives. I wish there was a bit more interviewing of mixed ages of infjs. It would be beautiful to see, actually, and greatly needed. I hope you’ll consider it. I gave my classes, every semester, the mbti test, to break the ice, they really loved it. It was just for fun, but what an incredible lab for my natural infj people observational skills to take flight. I did it for 8 years at a major university in D.C. and another school in Baltimore. I quit academia due to mass hypocrisy, (not among the students, they were the best) in 2018 and have been making art and traveling the world ever since. Good luck to you!

I'm busy with a video right now for YT, but it's highly controversial in today's woke culture (sigh). First upload next week. I tried narrating it, but was surprised how bad I sounded lol. I nearly put myself to sleep! For such a hectic topic, I figured presentation style with music and "ambiance" would get my message across. But 100% correct. You do get an outside perspective of how one presents to the world, though it seems narration takes out the colourful element of personality. But it did allow me to consider recording myself in a private setting. It's creepy to me, but ja. Let's do it haha.
LiJo, since you've done livestreams (which can't be edited), I'm just curious how that process was for you. Was a livestream intimidating the first time? Did you delay doing one until you'd gotten a certain number of pre-recorded videos under your belt?
Wildly intimidating. I don't think I did my first one until 1.5 years into the channel. I practiced by going live within a smaller FB group a few times. At some point I had to take a deep breath and pull the trigger.
