This series is pure Gold. You would actually be paying a ton to learn graphic design and still lack the understanding on these important principles. Hats off to Satori. Huge Respect for you brother.
this is the best graphic design youtube channel i've ever seen. The explanations are easy to understand and the most interesting thing is that the video animations are fun
Hey Tom, I just discovered these before and after videos and I really like them. They are a great source for those who are willing to improve their knowledge and skills. That said I just want to point out something I've seen in this video since I'm graphic designer specialized on making wine labels. The three concept illustrated in this video, the first and the third in particular, are wrong. The first and essential rule about making a label for a bottle of wine is to avoid using grape illustration at any cost (it doesn't matter if it's stylized or not). In fact there is not a single bottle of wine in the medium/high quality category that use such an amateur approach. It's the same principle criticized by yourself regarding the use of basketballs as bulletpoints in the Adidas poster. The image of a bunch of grapes is usually used in the industry for really cheap wines, the ones you can find in the supermarket (tipically the boxed wines). Thanks for reading. Cheers from Italy.
I really like your take on it. As a fellow designer, for me, It really shows the nuance(and specialized Industry knowledge ) involved to make a good design. Those designs look Amazing aesthetically but It's easy to fall into a trap were we design things JUST to be pretty instead of designing towards your clients goal. I feel the latter is where designers can really help and make a huge difference.
Thank you for displaying my art and sharing the links to my work. I would definitely encourage everyone to participate in these challenges as you get to learn a lot and also get it reviewed by the master himself. Once again thank you for teaching us and taking out your time for us.
Really love and appreciate these before and after videos in this channel. They are very much helpful. Good luck on your future endeavors and keep your work up. ❤️
Summary: White space IS NOT negative space. 1:04 1. Micro White Space The space between small elements, buttons, paragraphs, line spacing, icons. This would mean how you position your line, heading and maybe a row of buttons. 2:06 2. Macro White Space Considers the overall layout and “busy-ness” of the page - the spacing between the bigger elements like columns and graphics. Imagine redesigning a landing page to only have a few elements with great focus in there. 3:30 3. Proximity: Elements that belong together should be grouped together, to communicate through their closeness that they are of together. Take note: White space is also, or especially, important in Logo design to bring a message across clearly.
Hi, I subscribed to your channel because your content is very practical and useful. I really like before & after redesign videos. Even though we are aware of those principles, it's not so easy to make design decisions with confidence. I wonder whether some people naturally have better design sense or it's more so you get better at designing as you practice or both? Knowing theories is one thing, but I always feel reluctant when deciding on the size, spacing, typeface, etc. I usually try to imitate, copy, or benchmark how some amazing visual designers approached the design solutions, make a few different versions by trial and error, and then pick the one that I think looks the best. I wonder how others do… Any suggestion on how to improve visual design skills as quickly as possible?
I have always thought that white space was a negative space. Beginning my design career I was told whitespace is equal to negative space. It's really nice unlearning and learning better. Do you have more videos on negative space?
I think I was taught that incorrectly at one point also. Here's another video on space, and thanks for the kind words :) th-cam.com/video/UfkzHRM70sQ/w-d-xo.html
One comment : For the reworked DEVELO logo, I'm having a problem with the "O" at the end of "DEVELO". It appears to be floating slightly above the baseline for two reasons : The kerning needs to be a ted tighter, plus the bottom of the "O" needs to extend a bit below the baseline.
One thing that would be useful is to give us the links of the images so we can play around with them before you give the final results. That would really help.
3:54 the one on the left has a much better placement of the social media links. They should be easily read. The links on the right are too small and requires investment from the viewer to decipher.
I want to participate for the first time in this competition to challenge myself - - - - Can we change the colors or we need to maintain the colors and work on the design in relation to other design principles @satori graphics

ME: (Feeling good about the space proportions)
CLIENT: Since we have more space, can you make our logo bigger?

YEEEESSSS, this Way!

Soo smoooth animations🤤 Which Software you use ?
I noticed that you don t use justify as alignement option, why ?
May that be life or graphic designs, a small minor space helps to make them both breathe :) Thanks Satori !
always happy to help :D
Good Jab
What's the deadline for the challenge??
If we didn't have ours shown, is it all right to post on our own accounts with your before our after designs and tag you for credit?
Yeah that's totally fine of course 👍
@@SatoriGraphics thanks so much! Looking forward to the next challenge =)
When will you announce reaults for this challenge?
You didn't announce the results for the Sale Poster Design
In the first one, the two buttons need some more padding
i like your commentary, where can one learn the "graphic laws"
I didn't manage to submit my redesign but what's your opinion on having a landscape instead of portrait format?
It depends on the brief. But for this challenge on today's video, I think keep it portrait
Anyone know which logo font was used on the second wine bottle label? Brilliant...
Just like to see your video
I thought my design would made it, but oh well. Great video nonetheless.)
There were so many and like I said, many could have easily been chosen :)
Try the new challenge 👍
What is the last date for submission?
.
Do you consider yourself and an Art Director or Creative Director? or just a Graphic Designer?
At this point, none of the above.
@@SatoriGraphics 🤔 then what are you?
Please share link of blub and wire design 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
i will redesign the poster but how can i send it to u??
check the description 👍

My boss said the Facebook icon can't see. Can enlarge it? And enlarge... Enlarge ....Till no spacing.
Sir do you have any course?
awesome vid
Come on really lol? I thought everyone knew that
3:56 that do not balance well, the social being on the right side at the same height as the text would balance properly.
p.s still looks more balanced than the original.
Why is the file deleted?
I like your British accent
Thanks for the compliment Nodira ✌
why don't you post a video with auto subtitles please
Second
Yeah lol, and welcome
I need indonesian subtitle mr.
first
Can confirm 👌
