I met Eddie on the train last weekend, she was the most gracious wonderful lady who obliged me with a selfie for which I am so grateful... you are lovely and you say in this interview to treat people how you wanted to be treated....... well you made my day (my birthday!) thank you x x x

Always have been a fan of Eddies since mid 90s, was lucky to meet her after a show in London. Great respect from me for the wonderful comedy and then all the marathon’s, I hope she goes from strength to strength and doesn’t have to keep explaining the name or she/him I’ve always felt in the same way as with religion these are very private areas and down to the individual.

I’m happy for her and that she’s not bothered by either name or pronouns. She provides another variation to the trans community (gender fluid 👏🏻) but please continue to check in with those in your life who might not feel that way about old names/pronouns. Izzard has continued to be open about what is respectful for her and it isn’t a one-size fits all. We are all a kaleidoscope of expressions and lives. ♥️ Solidarity + Respect 🥳

gender fluidity is STILL a mystery to some so much that they feel frustrated (not me!) and its such a shame just as its a shame that this proves that somehow humans have gone from feeling brave and open to possibility in the face of the unknown to being terrified and shell-shocked. what did we do to ourselves? thats been at the heart of Eddie's comedy for so long. Frankly I think this whole debate is a low voltage white persons 1st world distraction from more important issues, but if you are going to be trans or whatever and it makes you happy, then be happy and get one with it.
This guy is intelligent, diplomatic, and positive and fun, funny and likeable. Most importantly: intelligent, and that's not a gender thing.
He's not pretending he has become a woman, he identifies as one, and he's cool with that.

I’m a massive Eddie Izzard fan, but somehow hadn’t picked up on her new name to go with her new publicly-stated pronouns from some years ago… I’ll endeavour to adjust my mental model [from a lifetime of being a fan of her] and how to refer to her; whilst also not worrying too much and berating myself unduly if I forget: while I recognise and understand how incredibly important this sort of thing is to some people (and I make *every* effort to respect them by honouring their wishes, and will defend them to others when/if the need arises), I also believe that gender and sexuality are both on a spectrum and definitely not a binary state.
Qualifications: being bisexual for a quarter of a century; sometimes more than others, because these things can also be fluid! Also always a trans ally, despite being personally cis - a fact that people on Twitter have tried to dispute; both in terms of my biological sex and gender, as a result of a combination of my personal trans ally views and my physical appearance.
Seemingly these things suggest to this sort of commentator that I must have been AMAB (factually inaccurate, but largely irrelevant and meaningless to me personally, because I don’t think being trans is some big negative thing; and presumably nowhere near as upsetting to me as for someone trans actually being misgendered or having their professed gender identity disputed). It’s all very sad and a sign of being very small-minded, and harkens me back to my days of living in rural south-west England in the 80s and 90s as I was growing up, where I couldn’t wait to move away and find much more open-hearted people to be around.
Big-ups to Chris Evans and Virgin Radio for being decent humans. This obviously should go without saying, but given the current state of the right-wing media-fuelled public “debate” on the “issue” of whether trans people actually get to exist and be respected, somehow it’s become a thing to congratulate people about when they do anything not actively transphobic. This is not the 2024 I was expecting.

Izzard is not part of the LGBTQ community, he is a straight male transvestite. Transvestites are almost always married men who, for reasons of their own, choose to dress up & act as thy think women do. They do this in their spare time. Izzard is an attention seeking clown & is offensive to both women & trans people.
I could call myself Suzy, it would not make me a woman, nor would it make me trans. Izzard has no experience of the turmoil & life changing issues that most trans people face, I find him utterly ridiculous & unbelievably crass.

I think Izzard a likeable and decent person. I get the feeling there's a lot he has to keep private about his transvestism and when he says it's not a fetish, I think he's either lying or in denial. But I like his "you can't go wrong" schtick. It's the opposite of making something deliberately confusing and then blaming them for getting it wrong, you know, like weird pronouns.

I've really tried with his stand-up from the 90s and up until today and still couldn't get into it.
