so this wave design is not a sine wave cancellation design. It would need to be mathematically correct. You would need to take the integral of the function of the box with the limit of the 2nd derivative (if l'hospitals rule applies, depending on the function). THen you would need to integrate all the space between each wave with a limit of Fx and Fy using implicit differentiation. A sound wave will either have a slope of zero of a hyperbolic function of x=1. this of course would be determined by the sub placement and output. This box DOES not cancel out the waves. A function opposite of the function of the sound wave will in fact cause something called wave acceleration, allowing for the asymptotic function to actually increase the distortion. This box DOES in fact increase distortion. The best box for a sub would be a box that has a sub placement exactly above and orthogonal to the cancellation wave forms. So a cos or a 1/cos function would be best. A box with a sub in the corner, and a sharp spikey box interior would be best. Look at that sound deadening material. Notice it starts like a cos function. I'm talking about the stuff that some people use under bed sheets. It is a foam padding. This not only cancels the wave, but it also decreases momentum impulse of the wave. This is the idea of what a box should have. The box made in this video is fucking retarded. It looks like it was designed by some people that think they are smart, but us actual smart people know this is fucking garbage....

no. I am an electrical engineer and I work for rockford. My mission for the last 5 years has been to alter dimensions of boxes or rectify coilover techniques to decrease resonance.

y do rockford subs gets louder in a bigger box than factory specs?

omg finally someone who has knowledge and proves it!I worked with Mark Finey way back in the day and even my ass knew this is from someone who TRULY believes he is doing good, but actually he is just propagating distortion. After all these years I can never figure out why some people think it's SO Complicated to make a sub box.Unless ur trying to break records, the simplest boxes with ave subs are 1000 times better than even in the last 10 yrs.Rockford, Orion, PS make pure insanity for relatively cheap and can handle obscene currents forever!!!

Sorry didn't even realize you were an engineer working for Rockford!!Lowering resonances? That must be the unicorn I saw last week outside my window lolGood luck. The new generation subs are truly unreal in current draw handling whilst staying linear!!!

Didn't think so, wear your fucking safety glasses!!

The wavelength of the frequencies that will be produced by a subwoofer like this are much longer than the dimensions of the box. So how can there be standing waves in the first place?

+Pete Reiter Quarter/half wave resonance might be possible.

Sound waves are propagated in longitudinal waves not sinusoidal.

Awesome work dude!! Last year I made something like these for a two way speakers and sounds great, honestly it's a very hard work.

whats wrong with dry wall screws exactly? I use them and never had a problem

I'm asking myself the same question, been using them for years without an issue.

HA! HA! You guys are funny. Pan heads are fine, but CERTAINLY!!! are not an indicator that a shop is Poor or Great. Most screw failures happen at the neck, where the head meets the shaft... course drywall screws especially #9 or heavier will work fine for 95% of sub installs. Want crazy strong? try using T-nuts or... #10 x 1-1/4", Stainless, Square Drive, Type 17 wood cutting point screws. More important are the poor connections you made to the sub. If the Sub company is so cheap they still use 60 yr old spade speaker terminals on their frame PLEASE! at least solider them. That crimped slide on connector is absolute Crap!

Because mdf dust is very toxic, you should wear a good mask in order to be safe, there are some 3M mask with N95 certification on walmart that cost about $5, which are very suitable for handling mdf dust..
