@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1, not exactly. Her voice, Pasta's, I mean, was uneven, like Callas', but not harsh and ugly (according to the chronics, at least). Pasta, on the other hand, was not a dramatic soprano but a _sfogato,_ that is, an extended contralto. When Viardot described her voice when attended Pasta's last recital in London she said "it's a ruin but, like Leonardo's Last Supper, the most beauitiful ruin in the world". Well, Callas' voice was never beauitiful but during the sixties and seventies It was a horrible ruin (she still knew how to sing well, of course, but the instrument itself was beyond ugly).

Beh, non esageriamo... Da qui e fino alla Casta diva di Roma del 1958 (con meno risorse) siamo veramente a livelli stratosferici. La Casta diva del 1960 nonostante gli accenti sempre sublimi già accusa oscillazioni proprio ai limiti dell'accettabile. Nel 1965 la voce è piccola, spoggiata, fragile, i fiati sono corti e il registro acuto proprio molto compromesso e volte accennato o urlato. Se parliamo di ENORME Artista sempre d'accordo, ma non è obiettivo dire che nel 1965 sia stata stratosferica!
Not bad at all. The wobble, minimal, was already there, but she knew how to sing, no doubt. That said, nothing to do with Caballe's 1974 Norma in Orange.
Her technic was great but her was ugly. Not nice to listen too. Well as for gran vocaccia had a connotation of laud but not nice at all, fromm an Italian prospective nobody would use vocaccia to discribe a sweet and melodic voice
