You are so right! Taking an old rusty tool and making it useful again is so satisfying. I owe everything I do to you for sharing these videos. Thank You John.
That blood on your thumb makes us blood brothers. Last week, I was restoring a beautiful machete that I had honed to razor sharpness. I was tired and it was late. I was polishing the Flat surfaces without protecting the blade with tape. My hand slipped, and off came the fingertip of my right index finger. No saving it. It was the top quarter inch of the tip. My hands are so destroyed, the bones, so broken and improperly, healed that losing a fingertip is par for the course. In fact, I did the same thing with my left hand when I was in my early 20s and working as a butcher. I cut the tip of that finger off too. now I have a matching set.
You are the Elvis of Tools and Undisputed King of Before and After...just wow! And I'm ashamed I sent those to ya.😳... I didn't remember them being poor mans flea market worthy so I apologize but holy cow what a job! The clippers were just churning out cuts! Amazing! Gooder than good Mr. John! Wow!
Vic- Thankyou again for all the goodies and especially the challenge tools, as you know the most satisfying projects are the ones that seem too far gone. When we conquer a challenge like that it is so rewarding. 😃👍
I know I like taking a tool nobody would want or use and restoring it back to to good usable condition, and a lot of times people will gravitate to it to use it after it is restored, funny how that works. Nice job on those two tools, enjoyed the video sir, thank you.
Those things turned out great you did a great job. I look at some of those tools and just see them as a piece of art. Thanks for sharing and have a great week.
Well Big Vic is no dummy! He knew better than to work on them himself! He sent them to you! They came out very nice! I just bought a crimper type tool by a company called Nicopress. They call them swaging tools?!?
The tools look great! Your right, they do look like they had been in the sea but now they look really nice and the bluing makes them look even better. Thanks to you and Vic for this tutorial.
Great show scout I have a similar pair but as per usual I have lost the bloody nut somewhere in the shop man so frustrating ha ha god bless take care 🗽🇳🇿🪖🇺🇸fjb45
Those turned out great. I watch a channel called NBS welding and he has a cement mixer full of nails that he uses to clean rust off of stuff. I think it is a brilliant idea, but omg the racket that thing makes must be crazy. Great before and after. Cheers
One day if I find a baby possum he is coming inside! My little friends have it pretty good, no predators and free range of my property with food and fresh water available 24/7. 😃👍
Great video. Thank you. Please give some thought to visiting Japan. The exchange rate is really in your favor. You can make some great videos here. I can assist your visit. Thank you.
There aren’t too many places outside the US I would love to visit but Japan is definitely one of them. I watch lots of videos of Japan and absolutely love their way of thinking. I did ponder the thought of going it is a 14 hour flight to Tokyo at a cost of $2000. 🤔😃👍
Great job on two messed up tools. I really like the bluing on the electrical tool. I had to look up the Western Union splice, never having heard of it.
The thing with the holes looks like one part of a flanging tool for brake lines and such with the other part missing. I have one some what similar and its a double flanging tool I use on making brake lines for classic cars and it works great. Just my thoughts
Short and sweet John, what amazing transformations to both those tools, I appreciate the discussion about how far to take the restoration, it's so easy to get over-invested in a tool that will never be great again ! I've got some old pruners to restore so this will be handy reference, at least these old steel handles don't break, I'm guilty of being a bit of a gorilla at times and have broken a few of the modern plastic handled versions, even high quality Bahco ones.
Amazing Job Johnny- great work . I showed a friend of mine and he couldn’t believe how well and A+ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️came out he said that you should “buy clamshell packs and stock those in Home Depot or Lowe’s “😂😂 thanks for the Vid brother- just 1 question ? What grit wheel were you doing those cutters with ? ( the round one )ttys John ✅
I am regretting throwing away tools in years past. You have proven once again that you can tame a Frankenstein's monster. By the way the before and after picture brought a chuckle to me. I have seen doors and windows installed the way of those pictures, but never a vise grip hammer!🤣
I think restoring prunes is your specialty on TH-cam! I found you trough the first video you did on restoring prunes so that will forever be my favorite video of yours!
Agreed, Big Vic is a great guy! Perfect choice on the bluing, these look awesome. I bet these work as good today as they did when they were new. Great save Scoutcrafter!
As always great job on those 2 items! I have a specialized screwdriver I'm working on and the blade is terrible,so we'll see! Till the next time see you Wednesday
Those tools really came back great. The cutters really work well. I thought you might use the Dake to straighten the cutters so the blade would close properly. The picture of the Western Union wire splice reminds me of the non functional GPS system in my wife's car that failed. The installer barely wrapped the wires and used painter's tape on the connections instead of electrical tape. I kid you not.
Amazing results like always, restoring those cutters are probably the hardest thing to do in restorations the angle and sharpens has to be right or they won't cut
Both tools turned out great! What kinda maniac doesn't dig an impressive before and after!
Thanks for all the great videos! The dog, looking askance, makes me laugh!

Hi John. Great video again. Nice work on those tools. I really like that crimping tool. Wish I had one of those 😮...👍👍❤...

The most interesting people you will meet usually have many scars to tell wicked tales about…. 😃👍

I wonder what Scout did to you to give him such a challenge??
LOL@@mikewatson4644
@@ScoutCrafter I sure enjoyed seeing it!

Always a great part of Monday is SCOUTCRAFTER !!!
Great show scout I have a similar pair but as per usual I have lost the bloody nut somewhere in the shop man so frustrating ha ha god bless take care 🗽🇳🇿🪖🇺🇸fjb45
You just missed an opportunity to use everybody's favorite tool, the Dake, to take that pin out!!!😂😂
Those turned out great. I watch a channel called NBS welding and he has a cement mixer full of nails that he uses to clean rust off of stuff. I think it is a brilliant idea, but omg the racket that thing makes must be crazy. Great before and after. Cheers
Like the old rock polishers! 😂👍
Those came back good. I have one of those cable connectors with wood handles tucked away somewhere.
Both look great. The bluing works really well on both. Nicely done 👍
you Mondays better, great critter shot, thxs for sharing...
That Little Guy needs to come in for the Winter. Can you house train a Possum?
One day if I find a baby possum he is coming inside! My little friends have it pretty good, no predators and free range of my property with food and fresh water available 24/7. 😃👍
Man you made that look easy! They look great. The blueing looks so vintage and nice.
Wow those tools looked like they were goners - not any more. You did a great job of bring them back to good usable standards.
At least the sheets working and crimper was able to full restored they were some pit monsters
Nice job getting that cutter to cut so nicely. Thanks for showing us.

@@ScoutCrafter Check flights NYC to Denver and Denver direct to Narita (the more famous airport) or Haneda (Haneda is Tokyo).
Great job on two messed up tools. I really like the bluing on the electrical tool. I had to look up the Western Union splice, never having heard of it.
The Western Union splice was very popular when telegraph lines were in use. Strong and secure! 😃👍

Yes- like a flare tool! 😃👍

Andy- In the beginning I made that mistake far too many times- You can easily get burnt out doing restorations- especially the long ones! 🫣😂👍
Amazing Job Johnny- great work . Hi Al, that drum sander was a 320 grit drum. It worked very well! 😃👍
Thanks bud
Right on. John excellence at it's best. I like the crimper the best. There you go raising the bar again😂. Right on
Nice work John. You’re so right how we love to see an old tool work again. Your little opossum buddy still coming for supper. Very cool.
Hook- I love that little guy! 😃👍🇺🇸
Respekt. 👍👍👍❤️

Bill- I often feel the same way, how many things in the past I thought were trash but now realize were restorable! 🫣😂👍
Multi-purpose hammer kit. Happy week, John and God Bless
2 more saves. You did a very nice restoration to save both tools. Big Vic should be happy with your work. Thank You
Great restoration as always. 👍
Hey !Jhon toujours une belle restauration d'outils, j'adore l'opposum et le teckel.
Patrick- That little Possum is so great. 😃👍
Pretty cool stuff! I will have to give those crimpers another look.
I think restoring prunes is your specialty on TH-cam! I found you trough the first video you did on restoring prunes so that will forever be my favorite video of yours!
Alex- I always get a kick out of finding out what video people saw first. Hopefully not one of my rants! 🫣😂👍
Mr. J it looks like you got your moneys worth out of those black gloves.
Those gloves are horrible. I rarely wear them because they are terrible! 😂👍
I love being able to repair or cleanup garbage and bring it back. Nice work!
Agreed, Big Vic is a great guy! Perfect choice on the bluing, these look awesome. I bet these work as good today as they did when they were new. Great save Scoutcrafter!
Great job! 😂
Amazing video as always!
As always great job on those 2 items! I have a specialized screwdriver I'm working on and the blade is terrible,so we'll see! Till the next time see you Wednesday
Mike- Screwdrivers look so simple but are deceivingly hard! 😃👍
The tools came out way better than I thought possible. I really love the collection of misfit pictures. Cracked me up!
Those old pruning shears are great for gardening. So much better than the new cheap ones.
Well done Scout, you get such great results. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺
That’s a fantastic job on both tools but very impressive how good you got those cutters to work 👍 I thought they were toast 😮
That before and after of those guys was pretty hilarious! The crimpers and pruners turned out beautiful!
Gotcha
😂😂😂
Another great video. I have to go back and watch a video where you show the bluing process.

I was going to use the Dake but that one part of the cutters is pretty soft so I used the vise. 😃👍
BOOM 😂😂😂😂😂
how did u put the slot in the bolt, ... QQRAH!!
Curious, do you use ultrasonic cleaners much?
They look great!!
Nice finish, as always.
Amazing results like always, restoring those cutters are probably the hardest thing to do in restorations the angle and sharpens has to be right or they won't cut
It’s true! They wind up folding the twig over! 😂👍
